Dr. Gin Love Thompson is a nationally recognized psychotherapist, author, civil rights activist and racial justice educator. A member of the Trayvon Martin movement and official coalition, Attorney Benjamin Crump has referred to Dr. Gin as, “an unsung hero of the Trayvon Martin and civil rights movement.” She has also served as lead organizer in additional high profile civil rights cases. As we approach the 90 day mark of the 2020 Election Dr. Gin is hosting a series of conversations with friends and colleagues creating a platform for our modern day leaders in the Civil Rights Movement to inform and inspire as we enter this dire time that will determine the future of our country, and our very lives. In the coming weeks you will hear from the prolific Civil Rights Attorney and bestselling author Benjamin Crump, legendary original Black Panther and author Professor Jamal Joseph, as well as relevant esteemed voices of the racial justice movement such as anti-racist author and speaker Tim Wise. The series of conversations begins with André Cymone and Morris Hayes. André Cymone, a Minneapolis native, rose to fame with Prince as collaborator and bassist during the pre-Revolution era. He achieved solo success in the 80’s with hits including The Dance Electric. In addition to his own discography which includes recent and racially relevant songs such as Trayvon, Black Man in America, Vote, American Dream and more, Cymone has produced billboard blockbusters such as Jody Watley, Adam Ant and Tom Jones. Cymone is an impassioned civil rights activist using his music to powerfully inform and unite. Cymone has also been a forerunner and ardent supporter of Bernie Sanders’s campaign and was a significant voice in now Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison’s campaign. His latest release and mini-documentary video, Our World is on Fire, is a timely, poignant and powerful representation of our current societal ills and uprising in the days following the massacre of George Floyd. Morris Hayes was keyboardist and musical director of Prince’s band The New Power Generation for nearly twenty years. He is a distinguished inductee of Arkansas Black Hall of Fame, his home state, alongside of legends such as Dr. Maya Angelou. 100% of the money from your purchase of Our World is on Fire by André Cymone is being donated to Sabathani Community Center in Minneapolis, Movement 4 Black Lives, and Dream Defenders. https://andrecymone.bandcamp.com/track/our-world-is-on-fire
