The beauty of a Patreon request is you never know what you're going to get. And bless Dan Grote, co-host of WMQ&A and BatChat's first patron and guest, for coming at us with a request nobody expected. This week, we're reading three stories featuring Joe Potato, a Gotham PI who we read one story with a while back, and now we're covering all three of his other appearances. We have a story that does a Reefer Madness but with Ecstasy, Anarky makes Will really mad and a Pulp Heroes annual that totally gets the assignment. All of these served up hard boiled, even though mashed would have been more appropriate. Ecstasy (Detective Comics V.1 # 594) Anarky: Prophet of Doom (Batman: Shadow of the Bat # 40-41) I Was the Love Slave of a Plant Based Killer (Batman: Shadow of the Bat Annual # 5) Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Follow the show on Twitter @BatChatComics and support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill

In this week's knuckle-turning episode, The Caped Crusades continue as the spotlight falls on Shadow of the Bat Annual #03. Magnus takes a deep dive into Batman's first conflict with Poison Ivy, demonstrating in the process that fandom may owe Joel Schumacher an apology. As with anything though, there are no clean breaks here. Hopefully none of you will ever have to punch someone in the face in self-defense. But if it ever comes to that, you have to know when to turn your knuckles to avoid seriously injuring yourself. Lucky for you though, His Excellency is happy to explain when those circumstances present themselves. Hopefully it'll never come to that though. Bourbon. So what more needs to be said? Download this show right now before mushrooms grow out of your nose or something. Because, seriously, how much would that suck? Due to the avalanche of awesomeness, there's just no time for listener feedback this week. But Magnus has slowly been getting caught up lately. There's been some feedback recently and there's more coming soon! So don't be left out! You too can offer your feeble effort at tribute whenever you want! Yes indeed, you humble serfs are always welcome to kiss your benevolent leader's ring. Corrupt DiManzocorp interns are ready, willing, able and eager to accept your bribe to present your meager missives to your wise emperor. The email address to use is trentusmagnus@gmail.com as the other seems to be having technical problems. In an another sublime act of truly stupendous magnanimity, your emperor permits you lowly rabble to suggest topics for a future episode. Thus, requests may be sent to trentusmagnus@gmail.com for the aforementioned corrupt DiManzocorp interns (who probably lack souls) to review, whereupon your leader might consider thinking about the possibility of potentially discussing whatever you have in mind some day. And that's a promise!

Two flavors of vigilante are covered on this episode: the brutal anti-heroine Pagan (Marian Mercer, of Batman #479) and the incompetent New Blood civic pridester Joe Pubic Public (Nobody Cares, Batman: Shadow of the Bat Annual #1,) neither of whom had much of a career to speak of. Also, this is the only Bloodlines story featuring Bruce Wayne before he had to file a lawsuit against an unlicensed chiropractor from Santa Prisca. You can follow along with our reading of the annual at Scans Daily. Spill Some Blood!!!* *across social media only. Tweet host Diabolu Frank directly, or probe @rolledspine as a group. Email Diabolu Rolled Spine Podcasts Facebook, which Frank hates and has nothing to do with. If the main DC Bloodlines blog isn't your thing, try the umbrella Rolled Spine Podcasts. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/diabolu-frank/message
