Iron Man The Animated Series that ran from 1994 to 1996 and acted as a way for the higher ups at Marvel to introduce the character of Tony Stark to kids in the form of a Saturday morning cartoon. Hoping to be the next Batman The Animated Series or X-Men it managed to be worse than both. This week we delve into two episodes, one from Season 1 and one for Season 2 both of which feature Hawkeye in the lead up to the Disney Plus series. THE VIDEO [After THE JUMP: the player and what we said] -------------------------------------------- 1. Maryland preview w Alex Drain Taulia Tagovailoa experience is he's going to Madden QB into sacks or crazy 3rd and 9 conversions. They screen as often as they run so that's their offense. Their defense broke the record for most guys cyan'd despite a couple of decent DEs and a good secondary because their linebackers don't yet know what they're doing and their DTs are just beatable. 2. Penn State After UFR (starts at 19:06) Cade McNamara graded out not negative in a game that had a lot of passes thrown under duress because Ryan Hayes cannot stop NFL-grade pass-rushers all by himself. Thought Haskins carried the team; they had him reading the PSU DT to see if there was a cutback lane or if they were overplaying the left side. Attacked the boundary by forcing the safeties who came into the box to be real linebackers instead of free hitters. 3. Basketball: Seton Hall Loss, UNLV Preview, wsg Matt D from Endless Motor (starts at 33:12) Matt from Endless Motor takes Seth's chair (literally) to talk about the early season rotation. Short version is Houstan is really a four or a guy who guards Just a Shooters, not major scoring wings. The guy who can defend that is Diabate and we're intrigued by the idea of using him as a weird three. Brooks is having an amazing early season and solves the question of backup guard, which means you can explore Bufkin on the wing. Devante' Jones has to stop trying to get those steals. Add Kobe and Williams and Diabate to Dickinson and Eli and you've got an incredible passing team. 4. Hockey wsg Alex Drain & David Nasternak Two identical games against Penn State: return of Beecher gives them three excellent centers and an answer for teams that want to play ‘90s hockey. Interesting to see Steve Holtz (Steve Holt!) earning a pairing with Power. We also discuss Portillo (not Porteeyo) and his highlight reel weekend, and the pocket dimension where they keep the Hughes. MUSIC: Tonight's featured musician is Russell Brower, who if you've ever stopped because some piece of background music in your video game, or Disney ride, or Saturday morning cartoon made you think, “Whoa—this is awesome; I wonder who composed this?” there's a good chance it was Russell Brower. He was previously the senior audio and lead composer at Blizzard Entertainment, and before that was principle media designer and music director at Walt Disney Imagineering (the theme parks division). He's also worked on projects like Batman: The Animated Series and other films. If you, like me, like to use videogame music to get your flow on when working or studying, you already know what a treat it is when a Brower composition comes up in your playlist. “Totems of the Grizzlemaw”—from World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King “Heaven's Devils”—from StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty “New Tristram”—from Diablo III And because Across 110th Street will get our Youtubes taken now now, the opener and outro: “The Employee is Not Afraid”—Bear vs. Shark “Ruska Vodka”—Motorboat

If only the live action Batman & Robin could have had a Mr. Freeze like the one in this movie! Featuring Robin and Batgirl along with some newly introduced characters (as well as Mr. Freeze's polar bears!), Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero was the last movie to feature the BTAS style of animation. Kevin Conroy would, of course, continue to voice the character for years to come but sadly, this character design and style ended with this film. Phil, Jake and Jason are joined by Tiffa (Intermission podcast) to rank the classic sitcom The Golden Girls and anime on the List of Every Damn Thing.Keep up with Intermission on Instagram (@Intermission_podcast) & Twitter (@IntermissionPC). Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts! If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: Jake is in unceded Pomo territory while recording the episode. Sitcoms are comedies where the characters carry over from episode to episode but are put in different situations like "Jack makes a date with two girls for the same night" type shit. We talk about a lot of sitcoms including The Golden Palace, All In the Family, Maude, Seinfeld, Empty Nest, Benson, The Facts of Life, Frasier, Married With Children and Designing Women (sadly there will be NO reboot). Adrienne Barbeau has come up a couple times in the history of Every Damn Thing already. She played Bea Arthur's daughter on Maude and was the voice of Catwoman on Batman: The Animated Series. Also she was in Swamp Thing, and Escape from New York. She often has a look on her face like she's smelling something foul. Mama's Family was a spinoff of some recurring sketches on the The Carol Burnett Show. Phil only ever saw this on TV as a kid when he was waiting for something else to start. The cheapness of the sets & production really stood out to him. Here's the pic of Bea Arthur in a sexy feather boa that we promised. We get a bit sidetracked with Fatty Arbuckle. The book Phil mentioned about him was I, Fatty by Jerry Stahl who also wrote Permanent Midnight which is in part about being a junkie while being a writer on the sitcom Alf. Here's Buster Keaton looking all sexy. Hentai is, generally speaking, pornographic anime. Pokemon is maybe the most popular anime there is in the US. Phil's kid loves it. Kiki's Delivery Service is a fantastic movie about a young witch trying to make her way in life. The voice of the cat in the English dub of it is Phil Hartmann's last role. The Little Mermaid is a Disney movie that's very short and came out the same year as Kiki's Delivery Service and really suffers in comparison. Other anime discussed include Sailor Moon, Ninja Scroll, My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke. Hanna-Barbera is the animation studio that created Scooby-Doo and many other cartoons, now owned by Warner Brothers. Their work in the 60s and 70s was usually pretty dull. It seemed like it was made by people who had contempt for their audience and maybe themselves. Here's the Kewpie ad mentioned by Jason. Hatsune Miku, Jake's one-time employer, is a Vocaloid software voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media, represented by a hologram of a 16-year-old girl with long, turquoise twintails. Jessica Rabbit is getting a Disneyland makeover.  Song of the South is buried deep in the Disney vault and it's impossible to imagine Disney ever releasing it, but here's a podcast detailing it's sordid past.  ALSO DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE:Betty White * Rue McClanahan * Estelle Getty * The Star Wars Holiday Special * Lucille Ball * The Three Stooges * Shakira * anti-diarrhea medicine * Avatar: The Last Airbender * G.I. They are soon put on a kangaroo trial by the Joker (the judge), Two-Face (the prosecutor), the Ventriloquist (the bailiff), Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, the Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, the Scarecrow, and the Riddler (the jury), in front of other criminals held at Arkham. If the defense (Batman and the D.A.) can prove that Batman is not the cause for everyone's turn to crime, they will be set free. When the jury gives the verdict of 'not guilty', the villains have little intention of following through on their deal... [School of Everything Else 2021] One of the greatest, most influential TV shows of all time. We watched the whole thing on blu ray, and not only does it hold up, it still surpasses most Batman media. Oftentimes lynchpins like this are hyped and oversaturated to the point where they can hardly live up to the cultural expectations, but this one really does. The first season was a HUGE run of 65 episodes which spanned a year from September '92 to '93. The second season was a more conservative 20, which went from May '94 to September '95. By this point it was time for Superman to get his own show (encapsulating the classic character rather than subverting him) which we will hopefully be covering soon.  There were a series of movies released on TV and VHS (as well as a brief, invisible theatrical release for Mask of the Phantasm, which we covered all the way back in 2012. And then 24 episodes of The New Batman Adventures switched up the art style and went from September '97 to January '99. It's the finer points and highlights of these three seasons that we focus on in this mammoth show.  Guests: Toby Jungius @TJungius of Through the Wind Door Kevin Veighey @GoldenTalesGeek whose Let's Plays on YouTube can be found here

Adrienne Barbeau began her career in 1963 with the San Jose Civic Light Opera. After graduating high school, she traveled with a musical comedy revue, entertaining our servicemen on Army bases throughout Southeast Asia. In 1965, she moved to New York where she made her Broadway debut as Tevye's second daughter, Hodel, in Fiddler on the Roof. A Tony nomination and a Theatre World Award for her creation of Rizzo in the original Broadway production of Grease led her back to California and the role of Bea Arthur's daughter, Carol, in the hit series Maude.  Since then she has become a best selling author, a recording artist, and the star of numerous features, films for television, concert performances, musicals and plays. Movie fans know her best for her performances in The Fog, Escape From New York, Creepshow, Swamp Thing, Back to School, and Cannonball Run. She appeared in the Academy Award winning ARGO.  Recently released are the golf comedy The Eagle and the Albatross with Dan Lauria and K-Pop star Amber Liu, and the ecological horror film Unearth, starring Marc Blucas. Adrienne has a Golden Globe nomination and over 450 screen performances to her credit. She starred as Ruthie, the Snake Dancer, on HBO's fascinating series, Carnivale. She was Oswald's mom on Drew Carey, Victoria Grayson's mom on Revenge, and Venus's mom on Sons of Anarchy. Daytime viewers know her as Suzanne Stanwyck on General Hospital. Her recent television appearances include Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy, the Netflix  series A.J. and the Queen, starring RuPaul, and American Horror Story. Having starred in over 25 theatrical productions in the U.S. and Canada, Adrienne spent most of 2015 playing Berthe, Pippin's grandmother, in the National Tour of Pippin, singing “No Time At All” as she hung upside down from a trapeze. Off camera, Adrienne is the voice of Catwoman in Batman, The Animated Series, Ms. Simone in Scooby-Do on Zombie Island, and Scooter's Mom in the 3-D animated film Fly Me To The Moon. She can be heard in a myriad of video games: God of War, Halo 4, and Fallout 76 among them. She also provides video description for the visually impaired on many films, documentaries, and television series; it's one of her favorite forms of voiceover work. Adrienne is the author of four books: the best-selling memoir There Are Worse Things I Could Do; the urban fantasy Vampyres of Hollywood and its comedy romance sequels, Love Bites and Make Me Dead. Adrienne is currently at work co-writing Grease- Tell Me More, Tell Me More!  for release next summer to honor the 50th anniversary of the Broadway musical.
