https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20260621dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:2-5 A Cure for That Itch Mosquito bites. Athlete’s Foot. Poison Ivy. If you’ve ever had to deal with these itchy ailments, you know they are no fun and very hard to get rid of. You try this lotion and that spray, but the itch doesn't seem to go away. Time and patience are about the only answers that make the itch go away. As the apostle Paul wrote these last words to his dear friend Timothy, Paul was preparing Timothy to deal with a situation far worse than bug bites and skin rashes. False teachings, lies about the faith and salvation, and personal religious opinions were infesting and infecting the hearts of people. Such things go beyond irritation; they hurt and kill saving faith. Paul knew that a time was coming when people would no longer desire to hear what God has to say in the Bible. Paul’s words are quite prophetic for us since we are still living in similar times. Some books promote Jesus as a mere teacher of moral living. Others claim that Jesus was not and never claimed to be God. Why all the promotion of these and many other false teachings? Because people who don’t want to believe the Bible have an itch—an itch against God. They don’t want to feel accountable to God or live their lives according to his Word. So, the only way to calm that itch is to reduce God to nothing more than a lucky rabbit’s foot or a curse word. What is the salve for this itch? “Preach the Word!” the apostle Paul encourages. Preach and proclaim the Bible—the whole Bible. Let God work through the Word to do the rebuking and correcting. Let God set the record straight. And even if people will not listen, God still calls us to be faithful to the Word and proclaim it “in season and out of season.” May God strengthen us to do this always! Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to always faithfully proclaim your word for your Word is truth and life. Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS. Text Us Here!People can handle gods, aliens, and superpowers, but give them a female lead and suddenly the internet forgets how to act. We jump from Summer Game Fest and State of Play hype straight into the backlash around God Of War Laufey, where Faye takes center stage and the loudest critics act like the franchise title has always meant “Kratos or nothing.” We break down why that argument falls apart, what it says about fandom gatekeeping, and why fantasy “rules” get weaponized the moment inclusion shows up.From there we spin Reddit Roulette with a marriage story that's equal parts relatable and infuriating: a partner gets pressured into social hangouts, finally finds one person to talk to, then gets punished for enjoying it. The update turns it into a real conversation about insecurity, status, and what it means to have your spouse's back when their friends disrespect you. If you've ever felt forced into a room you didn't belong in, this part is for you. Then we hit the main course: fast food burgers. We define fast food vs fast casual, argue about whether Five Guys is overpriced or worth it, and crown favorites like the Burger King Whopper, Wendy's Baconator, Seattle's Dick's Burgers, and some sleeper picks that surprised us. We even get into burger science: where the condiments sit in the stack can change the entire flavor, and yes, flipping the burger can be a legit upgrade. We close with a quick “who would you date” gaming draft and a wild fun fact about mango skin, urushiol, and a poison ivy style rash.If you laugh, cringe, or feel personally attacked by our burger takes, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the show. You have a limited offer you can use now, that gets you up to 48% off your first subscription or 20% off one time purchases with code: FMJPOD20 at checkout. You can claim it at: https://www.magicmind.com/FMJPOD20Magic MindA mental performance shot you soon won't forget! ❄️

A blonde '90s hair flip. Cigarette-in-hand red carpet appearances. A supposedly "washed-up" former child star working behind the counter of a coffee shop and living on her own at 15 years old. It's time to dive into one of the most pivotal and often overlooked periods of Drew Barrymore's life. Between 1990 and 1991, a newly sober and newly emancipated teenage Drew was rebuilding from the ground up: attending AA meetings, releasing her bestselling memoir Little Girl Lost, taking odd jobs to pay the bills, and fighting to be taken seriously as an actress again.Along the way, she collected a few tattoos, a couple boyfriends, a driver's license she may or may not have immediately lost, and roles in future cult classics like Poison Ivy and Guncrazy. Drew's big comeback was just around the corner! As she put it in 1991: "I just hope that I make the right choices and get to be an actress for the rest of my life."Join our Patreon for exclusive episodes & more: patreon.com/howdoyoudrewVisit our website for episode galleries & links: howdoyoudrew.comFollow the show's Instagram to connect with us & other Drewbies: @howdoyoudrewpodVisit our Drew Barrymore virtual museum: thedrewseum.comFollow The Drewseum on Instagram for more Drew content: @drewseum Subscribe to stay in the loop: How Do You Drew newsletter

On this week's AIPT Comics Podcast, we're joined by writer Zack Kaplan to talk about two ambitious new projects that tap into some of today's biggest anxieties. First up is Only the Savage Are Left, Kaplan's new post-apocalyptic series with Stefano Raffaele, which imagines a world overrun by a virus that transforms people into monsters. During the conversation, Kaplan digs into the moral dilemmas at the heart of the series, the challenge of creating a new kind of monster apocalypse, and why the story's central romance is just as important as its horror. We also discuss The Smart Division, his upcoming AI-driven crime thriller with John Pearson, exploring how rapidly advancing technology, generational divides, and questions about institutional trust shaped the book's premise. What was the starting point for the virus concept, and how did you land on the idea that the “cure” is tied to killing another infected person? There's an early suggestion in the book that civilization didn't collapse because people failed to work together, but because they turned on each other. How much of this story is meant to reflect real-world anxieties about how fragile social order really is? You've described the idea that “civilized society is a failed experiment.” How does that philosophy shape Ryder's journey, especially as someone who begins the story outside that cycle of violence? Ryder starts off relatively sheltered, living behind a wall and seemingly untouched by the infection. What interested you about telling a story through a character who hasn't yet been forced to compromise his morality? The relationship that pulls Ryder out into the world feels central to the emotional core of the book. How did you approach balancing that love story with the brutality of the setting? Without spoiling too much, how does the virus actually work on a thematic level? Is it purely biological, or is it also meant to represent something more psychological or societal? As Ryder encounters other survivors and “monster-killers,” how do you approach defining who the real monsters are in this world? Shifting to The Smart Division, the idea of an AI being involved in a “perfect murder” is chillingly plausible. What kind of real-world advancements in AI or predictive tech inspired this story? The pairing of a Gen-Z savant and a veteran FBI agent feels like a classic odd-couple dynamic. What makes that contrast especially interesting in a story about artificial intelligence and crime? Fun one: if you had to survive in the world of Only the Savage Are Left, what's your strategy in the first 24 hours… and are you making it out alive?

Just months after the release of 1992's Poison Ivy, Drew Barrymore's comeback story took an even more powerful turn with her acclaimed, Golden Globe-nominated performance in Guncrazy. Determined to land the role of troubled outsider Anita, Drew fought hard for the part — ultimately channeling her own vulnerability, rebellion, and resilience into one of the rawest performances of her career. With fearless direction from Tamra Davis and a fantastic supporting performance by James LeGros, the "lovers on the run" film became an underrated cult classic. Guncrazy was also proof that the then-16-year-old Drew Barrymore was capable of far more than Hollywood had given her credit for. This episode was originally released July 9, 2024 and is now being rereleased with a new intro and minor edits. That girl is poison! Yes the time has finally come for us to dive into discussing Drew Barrymore's first bad girl role as the titular Poison Ivy. Considered by Drew herself to be the kickstart of her big post-rehab comeback, the 1992 movie has long been a fan favorite with Drewbies. We're here with all the behind the scenes quotes and tidbits via our extensive vintage magazine archive and years of research. Plus we have a blast rewatching the film and laughing about stick-on tattoos, Sara Gilbert's spot on narration, copious amounts of LA rain, french twist hairstyles, sexy saxophone music, and the word scangy.Join our Patreon for exclusive episodes & more: patreon.com/howdoyoudrewVisit our website for episode galleries & links: howdoyoudrew.comFollow the show's Instagram to connect with us & other Drewbies: @howdoyoudrewpodVisit our Drew Barrymore virtual museum: thedrewseum.comFollow The Drewseum on Instagram for more Drew content: @drewseum Subscribe to stay in the loop: How Do You Drew newsletter

When we are following the Narrow way, we often start with some excitement about the path, but when life gets hard, do we look through the dense brush and think, if I could, I can get to a better path through the Poison Ivy. We consider the consequences of the moment but not the later. Jesus has a plan for you and I, and it will not be easy. We either trust God through it or we chase after our desires.Bible Verse(s): James 1:13-15; Matthew 7:13-14; Psalm 4:25-27; Hebrews 12:1-2; 3-17----------------------------------------------Top 100 list at Feedspot: https://podcast.feedspot.com/christian_men_podcasts/E: warriorwithin.christianmanhood@gmail.comTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@pastorwarriorwithinMerch Store: https://wwcm-podcast.printify.me/productsPayPal DONATIONS: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=KC3DTP8HM7DAEYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@WarriorWithinMinistriesStudios-----------------------------------------------------Affiliated with Talitha Coffee: https://talitha.com/pastordido-----------------------------------------------------Track: Jim Yosef - Samurai [NCS Release] Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds.Watch:Free Download / Stream:http://NCS.io/Samurai

Our hosts return to the Podcave and take their assigned seats at Bruce Wayne's wedding as they settle in to watch “Chemistry.” Alex and Will break down Poison Ivy's latest scheme, comparing it to “House & Garden,” and pitch their own improved version with a stronger environmental twist. They also notice Bruce moves way too fast when he's in love and asks estranged co-worker Lucius Fox to be his best man over an obvious candidate like his ward or father figure. Things also get weird as a portrait of a distant Wayne relative surfaces, Bruce discovers he's into Hentai, and Alfred has to put together a last-minute wedding for Bruce "Bridezilla" Wayne. Jace of The Comic Source is joined by Rocky from Comic Boom! for this week's DC Spotlight as they break down a lighter but still varied week of DC releases. Batman/Superman: World's Finest #50 gets discussed for its Dr. Destiny dream story, Superman's dream Supermobile, and a backup featuring Robin, Supergirl, Batgirl and Jimmy Olsen in a rivalry-fueled mystery. Batman/Static Beyond #5 continues to build around older Static mentoring a younger Batman Beyond while Failsafe and the larger Q-energy conflict move the story forward. Adventures of Superman: Book of El #7 delivers another dense chapter in the House of El saga with Otho-Ra, the future descendants of Superman and the larger science fiction mythology continuing to expand. Batman #8 is a slower setup issue centered on Bruce Wayne's conversation with Alan Scott, the threat of Vandal Savage, and Gotham's mayor Poison Ivy turning the city against Batman and Robin. Absolute Superman #18 stands out with Lois Lane confronting Talia al Ghul over her father's death, Ra's al Ghul showing the effect Superman has had on him, and the issue introducing Absolute versions of John Henry Irons and King Shazam while also hinting at the Phantom Stranger. Poison Ivy #43 continues G. Willow Wilson's character-driven run with Pamela Isley using her position as mayor to go after Gotham's corruption, while also advancing the fallout with Harley Quinn, Janet from HR and the consequences of Bob Venus. Bizarro: Year None #1 offers a different take on Bizarro through a Jimmy Olsen and Perry White focused story that sends them to Bizarro World, with the Daily Planet itself playing into that world's creation. JSA #18 wraps up the Year One material while also including more of the Search for the Spectre backup and its focus on the newer generation of Justice Society characters. Mad About DC #1 serves as a full Mad Magazine-style send-up of DC characters, creators and fandom with multiple standout gags and a tone both hosts found genuinely funny. Batgirl #18 leans deeper into the Spirit World mythology, Cassandra Cain's growing connection to the Wu clan, and the question of whether Lady Shiva is capable of redemption. The episode also includes a rundown of the week's collected editions along with rankings for the books discussed and selections for Book of the Week.
Starting with Daredevil episodes 2 and 3, then jumping into Daredevil #1, before breaking down the full weekly pull list, Batman #8, Absolute Superman #18, Poison Ivy #43, Batman / Static: Beyond #5, Nova: Centurion #6, All-New Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider #9, Wonder Man #1, Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook #1, Royals #1, and more!
