Verity Pennyworth becomes unexpectedly important to Detective Comics #1113 when she uncovers the lethal flaw in Commissioner Savage's planned herbicide, while the backup introduces the new villain Rhetoric. The return to Wonder War gives Wonder Woman #37 a major Diana-and-Steve reunion and gorgeous Daniel Sampere artwork, though Jace feels the emotional payoff is muted and the issue functions mostly as setup. Superman Unlimited #17 pushes Kingdom of Zod closer to its conclusion as Lana Lang helps purge Superman's kryptonite poisoning and he realizes there may be a way to save everyone else as well. Absolute Green Arrow #5 appears to finally answer the book's central mystery before Pornsak Pichetshote delivers another twist that completely reframes what Jace and Rocky thought they understood. Kate Kane answers Batman's call during Batwoman #7, returning to Gotham to deal with Vandal Savage's forces in a Bad Seeds tie-in that Jace thinks is slightly more interesting than the book's ongoing story, though neither host is especially enthusiastic. Jace and Rocky break down all 14 DC releases for the week of August 26, 2026. Batman: Bad Seeds — Sunset #1 begins the Bad Seeds event with Poison Ivy handing Gotham over to the Parliament of Trees in exchange for immunity over the death of Bog Venus, but the spectacle-heavy crossover immediately strips away much of the nuance that has made G. Willow Wilson's Poison Ivy run so strong. Justice League Unlimited #22 briefly gives Mr. Terrific the combined powers of the Justice League while Blue Beetle quietly assembles heroes who suspect Batman, Wonder Woman and the League leadership may have been compromised by Darkseid, as the amnesty granted to supervillains creates legitimate distrust inside and outside the League. Detective Comics #1112 brings Batman, Green Arrow and Black Canary to the truth surrounding Prion's death and an emotional decision about whether that truth should ever be revealed. Poison Ivy #47 accelerates Pamela's fall as she loses Harley, alienates Janet from HR, loses Vandal Savage as an ally and watches Peter Undine take control of the Knights of the Green Order before making a desperate bargain with the Parliament of Trees. Zatanna #5 takes Zatanna into the Hidden City as Jamal Campbell continues expanding the magical rules, rituals and mythology surrounding her role as Prime Magus. Absolute Wonder Woman #23 finds Diana singularly focused on locating Barbara Minerva without realizing Barbara has willingly become the Cheetah, while Zeus calls upon a reluctant Ares as part of an unknown plan against Wonder Woman and Veronica Cale's daughter becomes increasingly important to the larger mystery. Absolute Catwoman #3 reunites Selina with Holly and Helena Bertinelli as the story moves between their present-day mission and their earlier days as the Calicos, including a mysterious list connected to Cain and the reality-altering technology known as the Yarn. The Flash #36 has Wally expanding his attempt to prevent crime before it happens into Metropolis, prompting Green Arrow to finally confront him over how invasive and dangerous that level of intervention has become and quietly gather other heroes to discuss whether Wally has crossed a line. Green Lantern #38 forces Kyle Rayner to confront the amnesty granted to Major Force before swinging into a bizarre battle involving Condiment King, FEAST and Big Belly Burger's corporate mascots, while Hal Jordan's separate space storyline with Jana continues. Superman: Father of Tomorrow #4 continues raising uncomfortable questions about Jor-El's attempts to guide Earth's technological development while introducing Hex Luthor, a Lex who abandoned science for magic and demonstrates just how dangerous that choice has made him. Superman #41 escalates Superman's battle with Zod under the effects of kryptonite as the Kingdom of Zod story takes a major and genuinely unexpected turn, dramatically shifting the balance of power and opening a new direction involving Ursa, the Kryptonian forces and the time machine already established in the larger Superman continuity. Harley Quinn #65 concludes the Harq Knight Returns arc with Harley's two halves merging back together with little explanation before repositioning her for the upcoming Bad Seeds story with Poison Ivy. Black Tower: The Raven Conspiracy #1 introduces Daniel Burroughs, an intelligence operative with statistically abnormal psychic instincts, as Ram V blends espionage, psychic phenomena and occult mystery into a strong Vertigo debut. Finally, Next Level One Shot #1 sends Deadshot on what appears to be a straightforward assassination job only for him to discover a much larger conspiracy involving people who may literally not be themselves, potentially laying the groundwork for both a new Suicide Squad and a larger Next Level crossover. It’s the day that Gravest Graves by The Cramps was coming out. For those living under a rock, here’s the short story. After Lux Interior died in 2009, his partner Poison Ivy became a complete recluse. Reportedly, she didn’t even open the mail containing the royalties from the inclusion of “Goo Goo Muck” in the Netflix show Wednesday. At some point, In the Red Records head honcho Larry Hardy was visiting Ivy, and was stunned to find boxes and boxes of studio reels in her garage. He contacted Henry Rollins, who dropped everything to head across the country to bring them back to proper storage in Nashville. There they discovered reels and reels of recordings from the 1977 sessions with Alex Chilton that resulted in their first couple of singles. Now this material has been released, […]

In 1991, Larry Hardy founded the enduring Los Angeles-based label In the Red Records. Guided by Larry's personal taste for raw, "atonal garage music" and sonic extremes, the small operation has cultivated a catalog of over 300 titles, championing underground acts like Ty Segall, the Black Lips, and Jay Reatard. On August 21st, In the Red Records—in partnership with the newly revived Vengeance Records—will release Gravest Gravy by The Cramps. This previously unreleased 12-track album is sourced from the band's October 1977 sessions at Ardent Studios in Memphis, produced by Big Star's Alex Chilton. While those sessions produced early classics like Surfin' Bird and Human Fly, an entire album's worth of material had been shelved and lost to time. Larry recently discovered the original quarter-inch reels in the vault of Cramps guitarist Poison Ivy. Now, with preservation and restoration help from Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye, these legendary tracks are finally getting their first official release.

Such things go beyond irritation; they hurt and kill saving faith. Paul knew that a time was coming when people would no longer desire to hear what God has to say in the Bible. Paul’s words are quite prophetic for us since we are still living in similar times. Some books promote Jesus as a mere teacher of moral living. Others claim that Jesus was not and never claimed to be God. Why all the promotion of these and many other false teachings? Because people who don’t want to believe the Bible have an itch—an itch against God. They don’t want to feel accountable to God or live their lives according to his Word. So, the only way to calm that itch is to reduce God to nothing more than a lucky rabbit’s foot or a curse word. What is the salve for this itch? “Preach the Word!” the apostle Paul encourages. Preach and proclaim the Bible—the whole Bible. Let God work through the Word to do the rebuking and correcting. Let God set the record straight. And even if people will not listen, God still calls us to be faithful to the Word and proclaim it “in season and out of season.” May God strengthen us to do this always!
