Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord surprised us in the best way possible. Going into this new Star Wars series, our expectations were fairly modest. While Darth Maul has always been one of the franchise's most iconic villains, we weren't convinced that another Maul-centered story would bring anything new to the table. After watching all ten episodes, we're happy to admit we were wrong. In this episode of SuperHero Homies, we give our full spoiler-filled review of Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord, discussing the story, characters, action sequences, major reveals, connections to Star Wars lore, and what the future could hold for Darth Maul and the galaxy far, far away. COLD OPEN (First 21 Minutes) Before diving into Maul Shadow Lord, we discuss several major topics from the worlds of comic books, superhero movies, and pop culture: • Why Absolute Batman by Scott Snyder has become such a massive success • Bruce Wayne's lack of an internal monologue and how it changes the character • Why readers are embracing a more violent, immature, and physically imposing Batman • The new Supergirl movie teaser and Kara Zor-El's first meeting with Superman • Our upcoming Supergirl review and discussion of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow • Lex Luthor's comic-accurate power suit from the recent Superman set photos • First impressions of the Lanterns television series trailer • The future of the DC Universe under James Gunn FULL SPOILER REVIEW After the cold open, we jump into a deep spoiler discussion of Maul Shadow Lord. We discuss: • Darth Maul's character development • The show's fast-paced storytelling • The impressive lightsaber duels and action sequences • New Star Wars characters and villains • The shocking reveal in Episode 9 • Connections to The Phantom Menace • What happened to Maul after Naboo • Star Wars canon and lore implications • The future of Maul's criminal empire • The next chapter of Star Wars animation and television While Maul Shadow Lord isn't necessarily groundbreaking television, we found it to be one of the most enjoyable and cohesive Star Wars projects in recent memory. The series expands Darth Maul's story in meaningful ways, delivers exciting action, introduces compelling new characters, and leaves fans with plenty to speculate about moving forward. If you're a fan of Star Wars, Darth Maul, The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Phantom Menace, Andor, Ahsoka, Star Wars lore, comic books, superhero media, or pop culture discussions, this episode is for you. This video breaks down the tired take that Batman is “just a rich guy who beats up poor people” and explains why that assertion completely misses the point of the character, Gotham, and the nuance behind Bruce Wayne's mission; we explore how Batman focuses on violent criminals—not impoverished citizens—why many of his foes are wealthy, powerful, or superhuman threats, how Bruce uses his fortune to rebuild and support Gotham far beyond the cowl, and why reducing a complex symbol of justice to a shallow class-war meme erases the moral and narrative depth that has defined the Dark Knight for decades.Thank you so much for watching and be sure to share the stream! Batman is the World's Greatest Detective. He lives in a cave under a barn. He got there by accident. This is the official origin story. This week Zach and Mike go back to Batman Annual Issue 1 (1961) to find out how Bruce Wayne discovered the Batcave. A story written by Bill Finger, drawn by Sheldon Moldoff, and so completely unhinged that Mike spends most of it convinced Batman is just a drug addict having vivid hallucinations in an alley somewhere. Here's what actually happens: Bruce buys a house. He was going to use the barn as his secret headquarters, just a regular barn. The floor gives way, he falls into a cave full of bats, and he decides on the spot that this is an omen. The Batcave is born. That's it. That's the origin. Two pages. But then they find a piece of ancient pottery that says "Death to the Man of Two Identities" and naturally the only logical next step is to travel back in time via hypnosis to 1700s Gotham to figure out what it means. They bring their costumes. Batman builds a periscope, a surveillance mirror system, a utility belt, and a trophy room for a colonial spy with a broken leg named Jeremy Coe. Who, it turns out, discovered the cave first, called it the bat cave because of the bats, and is technically the original Batman. Batman also paints himself with tree bark dye, gets rained on mid-mission, and has to be rescued by a 12-year-old via smoke signal shaped like a bat.Thank you to our sponsors! On episode 155 of the Director Watch Podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter are joined by podcaster, film critic Bob Goochman discuss the next film in their Christopher Nolan series, Batman Begins (2005). Welcome back to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, the boys attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. In the summer of 2005, Warner Brothers took the risk of handing over the world of Batman to Christopher Nolan, hoping he could revive a franchise that leaned too much into the cheesy nature of the Schumacher era, and had run the character into a bit of a joke on the big screen. With Nolan at the helm, he created a comic book film set in a world not too different than ours, and allowed for us to go on an emotional, action packed journey not just with the Caped Crusader, but with his real identity, Bruce Wayne. In doing this, Nolan delivered a massively entertaining blockbuster that would elevate his status to another level than what he was before, and showed he could handle such a monumental task; thus he never stopped making films of this size again. Ryan, Jay, and the Gooch break down their thoughts on the film, why the Batman property got stuck, Nolan's vision and version of Gotham City, how scary the film is at times, the use of mostly unknown villains at the time, the acting of Christian Bale and Katie Homes, and that epic reveal of the Joker card at the end of the film, signaling something grand is on its way. You can listen to the Director Watch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. You can also listen on the AW YouTube page. This podcast runs 1h49m. The guys will be back next week to continue their series on the films of Christopher Nolan with a review of his next film, The Prestige. You can rent it via iTunes and Amazon Prime rental in preparation for the next episode of Director Watch. Till then, let's get into it. In the aftermath of Batman Returns, Bruce Wayne struggles with a city that's turned against him. When an armored arsonist called Firebug begins targeting Batman's allies—the GCPD, the Gotham Globe, and anyone who defended the Dark Knight—Bruce must forge new armor to survive the flames. Algo cambia en esos ojos, que ya no vuelven a sentir el miedo paralizante. Este podcast tiene muchas similitudes con los dos episodios de Recuenco porque Luis Alberto también se la ha jugado, pagando el precio personal más alto. Today's episode of The Rizzuto Show is what happens when a daily podcast completely abandons structure and just lets the chaos drive the Ford Focus directly onto the sidewalk. And somehow? It works beautifully. The gang starts off talking about language, slang, and why the word “cool” has survived for over 100 years while every other trendy word died a painful MySpace death. From there, things immediately escalate into a passionate discussion about Bob Seger, Risky Business slides at weddings, and whether wedding invitations feel exciting… or like being summoned for jury duty with chicken parmesan. Then the show uncovers a completely real service where strangers can literally BUY seats at weddings. That's right — random people are paying actual money to attend weddings they were never invited to. Because apparently the economy has gotten so weird that “professional wedding guest” is now a side hustle. Naturally, the crew debates whether crashing weddings for entertainment is genius or a fast track to getting tackled by someone's drunk uncle named Gary.Things somehow become even more ridiculous when listeners introduce “Bruce Madness,” a March Madness-style bracket dedicated entirely to ranking the greatest Bruces of all time. This launches a full-blown debate featuring Bruce Willis, Bruce Springsteen, Bruce Lee, Bruce Wayne, Bruce Campbell, Bruce Dern, Bruce Almighty, and approximately 47 other Bruces nobody expected to hear discussed in a serious context today. The arguments become passionate. Alliances shift. Friendships are tested. Batman gets involved. It's basically CNN for people who peaked at Spencer's Gifts.Chris Kerber joins the show to weigh in on hockey, the Kentucky Derby, Blues draft strategy, Dylan Holloway's extension, and yes… even MORE Bruce opinions because at this point the show has fully committed to the bit. There's also incredible Derby talk involving dorm-room air mattresses, mint juleps priced like luxury handbags, and infield stories that sound like NASCAR collided with a wedding reception. And then there's the weird news story that somehow tops everything else: a woman named Wendy allegedly chasing a dirt bike kid down a sidewalk in a silver Ford Focus while drunk and trying to “socialize her dog.” Which sounds less like a legal defense and more like the title of a rejected Florida crime documentary. The crew breaks down the viral footage, questions humanity, and collectively realizes that every neighborhood has THAT person lurking nearby. This episode is loaded with the exact kind of sarcastic humor, ridiculous arguments, weird stories, celebrity commentary, and chaotic energy that make The Rizzuto Show one of the best daily podcasts and funniest morning shows around. If you like your entertainment loud, self-aware, slightly unhinged, and aggressively St. Louis, congratulations — you've found your people.Whether you came for the comedy podcast vibes, the weird news, the Bruce discourse, or just needed a break from reality for a couple hours, this daily podcast delivers the kind of nonsense that only The Rizzuto Show can produce. And seriously… Bruce Wayne might actually have a case.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
- 37:08As bat-bugigangas "realistas" - 38:35Explicações - 40:18Sobre riqueza - 43:52Batman: Ano Um - 47:35Batman v Freeway - 49:41O envenenamento do povo - 51:11Pra chorar - 53:34O "chocante" Espantalho - 54:47O armamento Wayne - 57:27Notas do Filmes e Games - 57:44Premiações - 1:02:10Bilheteria - 1:02:36Momento Locadora - 1:03:48Resultado da Enquete do FGcast #424 - 1:47:34Dicas do FGcast #425 - 1:53:29

Our hosts return to the Podcave and take their assigned seats at Bruce Wayne's wedding as they settle in to watch “Chemistry.” Alex and Will break down Poison Ivy's latest scheme, comparing it to “House & Garden,” and pitch their own improved version with a stronger environmental twist. They also notice Bruce moves way too fast when he's in love and asks estranged co-worker Lucius Fox to be his best man over an obvious candidate like his ward or father figure. Things also get weird as a portrait of a distant Wayne relative surfaces, Bruce discovers he's into Hentai, and Alfred has to put together a last-minute wedding for Bruce "Bridezilla" Wayne. Director Christopher Nolan made his mark in the mid-2000s with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne. But between these two blockbusters, Nolan and Bale teamed up on another project, an adaptation of Christopher Priest's 1995 epistolary novel about two rival magicians in late 1800s England, with Hugh Jackman playing Bale's frenemy. In the mix are Michael Caine, Rebecca Hall, Scarlett Johansson, Piper Perabo, and Andy Serkis, with David Bowie appearing as inventor Nikola Tesla. The modestly budgeted film successfully wowed audiences, earning over $100 million at the box office, and it scored Oscar noms for Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography. Now we're watching very closely to see if The Prestige still holds up twenty years later. Or, perhaps, its tricks no longer fool us… because you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Oh, no! Wrong movie! Abra-cadabra! Show notes provided by JoeDC Comics has never shied away from telling BIG stories in their main titles. One of the very first was "The Search for Mera" in the spring of 1968 running through nine issues of the ongoing Aquaman book. A few years later at the start of The Bronze Age, "The Superman Sandman Saga" dropped, also running through nine issues of the hero's titular title. The flood gates were opened (sorry Aquaman) and what followedwere a spate of classic tales--"The New Teen Titans:The JudasContract", The L.S.H. "The Great Darkness Saga", "The Trial of TheFlash", and of course the entire Fourth World Saga--all in continuity, published in ongoing titles. And of course the dreaded "creature of the night", "the dark knight detective"--The Batman--was to have his share of these main-stream event books. Join hosts James, Chris, and Joe for a fun-filled closeexamination of one of Batman's multi-part ongoing events--"Batman Hush"! Starting in issue #609 and running through to issue #619 the mystery of HUSH graced the pages of Batman's book. Authored by Jeph Loeb(Batman:The Long Halloween" an earlier twelve issue in continuity event), and superstar artist Jim Lee we are introduced to Bruce Wayne's childhood chum-- Tommy Elliot. What follows is a huge adventure, a greatest hits of Batman's world, that takes the guys on a rollercoaster ride of discovery, observations, and critiques. Where were the boys when this story dropped? Is it in the top ten of all-time Batman stories? Favorite chapter(s)? Jim Lee's chosen styleto depict this adventure. And how did Jeph Loeb concoct, quitepossibly, the best Batman vs Superman brawl in DC comics history? Bring a score card, you'll need it, and try and keep up with theMint crew as they hurtle to the end (dodging batarangs, gas bombs, cat o' nine tails, clay, venom, Kryptonite, and Lazarus Pits) of one of DC's new millennium mysteries!
Jace of The Comic Source is joined by Rocky from Comic Boom! for this week's DC Spotlight as they break down a lighter but still varied week of DC releases. Batman/Superman: World's Finest #50 gets discussed for its Dr. Destiny dream story, Superman's dream Supermobile, and a backup featuring Robin, Supergirl, Batgirl and Jimmy Olsen in a rivalry-fueled mystery. Batman/Static Beyond #5 continues to build around older Static mentoring a younger Batman Beyond while Failsafe and the larger Q-energy conflict move the story forward. Adventures of Superman: Book of El #7 delivers another dense chapter in the House of El saga with Otho-Ra, the future descendants of Superman and the larger science fiction mythology continuing to expand. Batman #8 is a slower setup issue centered on Bruce Wayne's conversation with Alan Scott, the threat of Vandal Savage, and Gotham's mayor Poison Ivy turning the city against Batman and Robin. Absolute Superman #18 stands out with Lois Lane confronting Talia al Ghul over her father's death, Ra's al Ghul showing the effect Superman has had on him, and the issue introducing Absolute versions of John Henry Irons and King Shazam while also hinting at the Phantom Stranger. Poison Ivy #43 continues G. Willow Wilson's character-driven run with Pamela Isley using her position as mayor to go after Gotham's corruption, while also advancing the fallout with Harley Quinn, Janet from HR and the consequences of Bob Venus. Bizarro: Year None #1 offers a different take on Bizarro through a Jimmy Olsen and Perry White focused story that sends them to Bizarro World, with the Daily Planet itself playing into that world's creation. JSA #18 wraps up the Year One material while also including more of the Search for the Spectre backup and its focus on the newer generation of Justice Society characters. Mad About DC #1 serves as a full Mad Magazine-style send-up of DC characters, creators and fandom with multiple standout gags and a tone both hosts found genuinely funny. Batgirl #18 leans deeper into the Spirit World mythology, Cassandra Cain's growing connection to the Wu clan, and the question of whether Lady Shiva is capable of redemption. The episode also includes a rundown of the week's collected editions along with rankings for the books discussed and selections for Book of the Week.
Welcome back to another episode of School Counseling Simplified. Today I am interviewing Sonya, a school counselor and IMPACT member. In this episode, she shares practical strategies for running small groups, including how to focus on short term skill building so students can successfully return to class ready to learn. Sonya is a 2nd year school counselor at a title I elementary school in Gresham, OR. She has been in Oregon for 13 years but was born and raised in Lexington, KY. Sonya believes that the most impactful part of school counseling is connecting with families and inspiring students through restorative conversations and teaching the power of compassion and forgiveness. In her spare time, Sonya is always working on a jigsaw puzzle (she even has a puzzle library on her front porch!), tap dancing, hanging out with her dogs Sugar Bear and Bruce Wayne, playing chess and making everyone laugh as much as possible. Sonya would like to end this with her simple motto: life is a comedy, not a tragedy. We must remember that laughter is the best medicine. What do you love about school counseling? Sonya shares that the most rewarding part of her work is seeing the impact she has on students, both big and small. Even a brief 10 or 30 minute check in can make a meaningful difference. Whether students are repeating something they learned in a lesson or choosing to trust her with their feelings, those moments are what make the work so meaningful. What can you share with us about small groups? Sonya emphasizes that small groups are not meant to be a quick fix for behavior or an overnight solution. Instead, their value lies in the ability to reach and support many students at once. She currently runs about seven groups and aims to grow to ten or twelve so she can consistently serve students on her caseload each week. She also highlights the importance of boundaries and remembering that school is a place for learning. When students come to her room, she focuses on making the time effective by prioritizing meaningful skill building within a structured session. Scheduling can be one of the biggest challenges with small groups. Sonya recommends identifying times that students cannot miss, such as literacy or reading blocks, and working around those priorities. She uses Google Forms to gather teacher input and collaborates with them to find times that work for everyone. What is a day in the life for you? Sonya shares that this year, her kindergarten and first grade students need a high level of support, so she spends a significant amount of time working with those grade levels. Her day often includes phone calls with families, teaching class lessons, providing interventions, and attending Tier 2 and attendance meetings. She also creates a weekly news video for upper grade students, adding a creative and engaging element to her role. What advice do you have for new counselors? Sonya reminds new counselors that it is impossible to do everything, and there will always be a never ending to do list. It is important to stay grounded in your role and remember the purpose of your work. Students are at school to learn, and school counselors are there to provide short term, solution focused skill building to support that learning. At last, we're again joined by novelist Nancy Northcott to discuss the portrayal of women in Batman 66! We pick up near the start of Season Three, with the episodes "The Unkindest Tut of All" and "Louie, the Lilac." Can Tim, Paul, and Nancy survive S3?
As Tim and Paul have examined first draft Batman scripts, it's become clear that the draft recaps of part one that you hear at the start of part two are often completely rewritten for the final. But why did this rewriting take place? What were the goals of the recaps that Lorenzo Semple and co. thought weren't being served as written by the contributing writers? In the latest Bat Bits, we compare the recap in the draft of "A Riddle A Day Keeps the Riddler Away" to what was broadcast and try to glean the reasons for the changes. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is still the gold standard for Batman storytelling — and it's not even live-action. Released theatrically at the height of Batman: The Animated Series, this noir-infused tragedy explores Bruce Wayne's one real chance at happiness, and the moment he chooses the cowl instead. More romantic, more adult, and more emotionally devastating than most superhero films that followed, does it hold up after all these years, or is it overrated? Imagine if Bruce Wayne had no money, if Superman grew up on Krypton and came to Earth with emotional scars, or if Wonder Woman had been raised in Hell. Welcome to the Absolute Universe – a dark parallel universe created by DC Comics in 2024. The idea of a parallel universe is not new to comic books, but what is surprising has been the success of the Absolute Universe. Some of the Absolute versions of superheroes have been outselling the comics that take place in DC's mainline universe. I talk with Executive Editor Chris Conroy and Group Editor Katie Kubert about how they've overseen the team of artists and writers at DC crafting this dark universe with thematic parallels to our own world. And I talk with writer Kelly Thompson about how she came up with Absolute Wonder Woman and why the comic is resonating with so many fans. This episode is sponsored by Surfshark. He has been published in 33 languages, and the Los Angeles Times called him “... a thriller giant." He is also a NY Times bestselling comic book writer, having penned stories for AWA (Knighted and the critically acclaimed anthology NewThink), Marvel (Wolverine, Punisher) and DC (Batman, Penguin). His eighth Orphan X novel is The Last Orphan, the ongoing series featuring The Nowhere Man, “Evan Smoak, a man with skills, resources, and a personal mission to help those with nowhere else to turn. He's also a man with a dangerous past.” #1 NY Times bestselling author Meg Gardiner said of the book, "Just when I thought the Orphan X novels couldn't get any better, Gregg Hurwitz takes the series to an even higher level. The Last Orphan is pulse-pounding, heart-stopping, and thought-provoking.” Gregg Hurwitz has written screenplays and TV scripts for many of the major studios and networks, has published poetry, numerous academic articles on Shakespeare, and has taught fiction writing at USC. I don't know about you Miss Kitty, but Batman Returns is feeling so much gayer. This unofficial Christmas movie about the Penguin's rise, Catwoman's coming out and Bruce Wayne's need to come out all takes place around the holidays in Gotham, with a sabotaged tree lighting, a Christmas party under attack and cold soup by the fire one night in that fussy bachelor pad. Michelle Pfeiffer is the reason for the season as Selina Kyle in and out of the bodysuit, Danny DeVito goes to a 27 and back, Jan Hooks shows up just before that nose bite happens, plus we get PeeWee and Simone, best featured Ice Princess, Danny Elfman's score, the Hello There neon sign and a chest voice close to our hearts.Become a Matreon at the Sister Mary level to get access to Season 6 of Canada's Drag Race, plus brackets, movie reviews and past seasons of US Drag Race, UK, Canada, Down Under, Espana, Global All Stars, Philippines and more.Join us at our OnlyMary's level for our current recap of Season 4 of Drag Race plus even more movie reviews, brackets, and deep dives into our personal lives!Patreon: www.patreon.com/alrightmaryEmail: alrightmarypodcast@gmail.comInstagram: @alrightmarypodJohnny: @johnnyalso (Instagram)Colin: @colindrucker_ (Instagram)Web: www.alrightmary.com
