Greetings, dear listener, and welcome back to "Jump on the Bat-Wagon" with James and Brian, where we watch through the entire DC Animated Universe from start to finish in the controversial airdate order, to experience these shows the way human beings experienced them in the far-gone days of the 1990s. The twist? Brian has never seen any of the DCAU. Will he become a super-fan like James or regret his decision? If the universe doesn't magically create a space that's meant for you (because it won't), you create it yourself. That's exactly what Jessica Kupferman did when she and co-founder Elsie Escobar started She podcasts back in 2013 and 2014. After noticing that a lot of podcasters were men and “gurus” who were just interviewing one another, they decided they wanted to do something different. Fast forward to today, Jessica and She Podcasts is still growing, hosting an active Facebook group, live conferences, a coaching program, a new 501(c)3, and a host of other ventures. This was such a fun conversation about living up to our parents' (and society's) expectations, gaining visibility online, attending in-person conferences, making a space for yourself, why nothing has to be perfect, and so much more. Her sweet spot is helping podcasters set up systems for growth and training them on how to obtain sponsorship. She also is an internet “Bat Girl” with an odd amount of experience in way too many software services. The Cassandra Cain podcast talk about the Batgirls dealing with an unknown urban Sniper in the Hill Neighborhood. This close to home conflict is a danger where our Batgirls understand not only the immediate danger and consequences, but the psychological paranoia this can cause with the dwellers of the neighborhood. Cammie aka Crash.Thunderpants on Instagram & TikTok joins me to talk about some of her favorite fandoms. Cammie kicks things off with Marvel. From her fist introduction to Marvel with the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, to getting into the MCU and comics. We cover it all. We talk about her favorite Captains, the X-Men, and one of the projects she hopes to see come to life in the MCU. From Marvel, we flip things over to DC. Animated TV shows once again show the power they had to bring audiences in, as we reflect on Batman: The Animated Series. We also talk about her favorite character in the DC Universe, and we talk about the future of the DC movie franchise after the announcements of James Gunn & Peter Safran and their plans. We wrap it up nicely with Cosplay. Cammie talks about how she first got into Cosplay, and it is such a great story. She talks about the characters she cosplays, whether her Batgirl utility belt is functional, and what she has in the works for the future. Batman Forever set the wheels in motion for a brand new kind of Batman. Camp. With George Clooney taking over from Val Kilmer who took over from Michael Keaton this is where people truely fell out of love with the Batman francise. Even the likes of Batgirl, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy and Bane didn't stop people crying about new levels of sillyness that left the reviews and box office lower than ever. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 3: The Drive at 5: According to reporting from Axios' Catlin Owens, “[t]he coronavirus pandemic appeared to originate from a laboratory accident, based on biosafety issues in the epicenter in Wuhan, China, and factors observed in the nature and early spread of the virus, according to a 302-page Senate report.” You can read more here: https://www.axios.com/2023/04/17/senate-covid-origins-report-details-lab-leak-theory According to a report from Reason's Joe Lancaster, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)—along with several other elected officials—wants the government to save Batgirl! You can read the full article here: https://reason.com/2023/04/12/elizabeth-warren-wants-the-government-to-save-batgirl/ While appearing on Real Time with Bill Maher, Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA)—candidate for Sen. Dianne Feinstein's soon-to-be vacated Senate seat—baselessly accused Maher and guest Piers Morgan of being “old and grumpy” and claimed NCAA swimming champion Riley Gaines—who advocate for the rights of biologically female athletes—of simply speaking out for “likes and clicks.” During a press conference, Mayor Eric Adams introduced New York City's first “Rat Czar”—Kathleen Corradi. The position will pay $155,000 per-year! Despite submitting an application and collecting letters of recommendation, Henry was devastated to hear he did not get the position.
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (04/17/2023): 3:05pm- In a press release on Monday, Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) stated: "During my field hearing in South Jersey last month, my colleagues and I highlighted the adverse effects offshore wind development would have on various sectors and industries, from our environment to our national security…These warnings can no longer be ignored. This President and this administration continue to disregard these valid concerns, and now the Pentagon is reiterating the potential impacts the industrialization of our coast will have on our national security.” You can read the full press release here: https://vandrew.house.gov/media/press-releases/offshore-wind-national-security-price-we-will-pay 3:25pm- According to rumors from British tabloids, the royal family may be on the brink of collapse. Rich has no sympathy and says he's still bitter that British soldiers set fire to the White House during the War of 1812. 3:35pm- In a video released on his YouTube page, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo accused the far-left of not wanting to address the issue of crime in major cities. 3:50pm- In a clip released from an interview scheduled to air Monday night, billionaire Elon Musk told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that government agencies had access to the private direct messages of Twitter users. 4:05pm- On Monday, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on relaxed crime policies adopted by New York City. Congressman Daniel Goldman (D-NY) claimed the hearing was a “charade” to attack Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. In response, Madeline Brame—the mother of an Army veteran who was tragically killed in New York City—defiantly told Rep. Goldman that his disinterest in fighting crime is why she has left the Democrat party. In honor of her son, Brame formed the Victims Rights Reform Council (VRRC). You can learn more about the organization here: https://victimsrightsreformcouncil.org 4:30pm- During Monday's House Judiciary Committee hearing on relaxed crime policies in New York City, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) accused the victims of violent crime who were testifying of being “props in a MAGA Broadway production.” Rich and Matt reflect upon Rep. Johnson's most insane (and hilarious) statements as a member of Congress, including: claiming Republicans believe the Tooth Fairy is anti-Christian and woke, his fight for helium equity, his fear that Guam may tip over if it becomes overpopulated, and his unforgettably terrible apology for saying the “m-word.” 4:50pm- Saturday Night Live still isn't funny…SHOCKING! 5:00pm- The Drive at 5: According to reporting from Axios' Catlin Owens, “[t]he coronavirus pandemic appeared to originate from a laboratory accident, based on biosafety issues in the epicenter in Wuhan, China, and factors observed in the nature and early spread of the virus, according to a 302-page Senate report.” You can read more here: https://www.axios.com/2023/04/17/senate-covid-origins-report-details-lab-leak-theory 5:20pm- According to a report from Reason's Joe Lancaster, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)—along with several other elected officials—wants the government to save Batgirl! The position will pay $155,000 per-year! Despite submitting an application and collecting letters of recommendation, Henry was devastated to hear he did not get the position. 6:05pm- During an appearance on MSNBC with Jen Psaki, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) got a bit angry when he wasn't able to talk about the topics he wanted to talk about…PLUS Megaphone Bernie makes an appearance! 6:15pm- FLASHBACK: In a 2005 appearance on 60 Minutes, Morgan Freeman said Black History is American History—suggesting that the best way to overcome racism is to simply stop talking about race. 6:30pm- According to claims from investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, there is rampant corruption in Kyiv, Ukraine. Where are U.S. tax dollars going? 6:45pm- In a press release on Monday, Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) stated: "During my field hearing in South Jersey last month, my colleagues and I highlighted the adverse effects offshore wind development would have on various sectors and industries, from our environment to our national security…These warnings can no longer be ignored. Our trope this week dear Critters is that of witches, who we stan over at ScaryCrit. For this one, we're lighting a candle and opening the book to Robert Egger's 2015 folk-horror gem, The VVitch. From Egger's ardent direction when it came to historical authenticity, to Thomasin's plight and Jared's passion for good for her! stories, there's so much to conjure up while talking about this film: The actual factual history of witches being in direct opposition to patriarchy and the stringent ideals of men and church, what it means to be goaded into becoming that which you're accused of being, how the cauldron was dropped when it came to marketing, and how this film challenges expectations and perceptions of antagonists and happy endings—there's so much magic happening in today's episode. On today's episode, we are so honored to have Filipina actress Ivory Aquino grace us with her vibrant energy and help us wrap up Women's History Month. This week also coincides with International Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31st), which celebrates the accomplishments of transgender and gender nonconforming people, while also bringing awareness to the work that is needed to achieve trans justice (GLSEN). As a trans woman, Ivory describes her childhood as “a push and pull of joy and questioning.” Born and raised in the Philippines, Ivory moved to the US to study at Berklee College of Music. An accomplished singer, dancer, and actor, Ivory is best known for portraying transgender activist Cecilia Chung in the miniseries “When We Rise” and being cast as Alysia Yeoh in DC Film's “Batgirl.” Her powerful stories remind us why it is so important to approach the unknown with curiosity, rather than fear. In this episode, Matthew rambles about storytelling techniques in the Bronze Age and shows a through from The Heart of Juliet Jonesnewspaper strip up to the Bronze Age and how it can be found in modern comics to varying degrees. It's not scientific, but a stream of thought that touches on the John Romita era of Amazing Spider-Man, the Wolfman/ Perez New Teen Titans and current comics like Batgirls and She-Hulk. Hey y'all, For those of y'all not in the know, the recent merger of Warner and Discovery led to not only a further consolidation of a relatively cramped market, but also the loss of completed film and television. Following the merger, the company, under the direction of David Zaslav, multiple projects in various stages of post-production were canceled and used for tax write off purposes, the most prominent of which was Batgirl. However, one of those films leaked. Yes folks, last weekend a completed animated Scooby Doo film, Scooby Doo and Krypto Too, leaked online. So naturally we had to talk about and review this never to be released film. Was it bad enough to warrant cancellation? Was it secretly a tie-in to the now dead Snyder-verse (It does not)? What's our favorite Scooby Doo crossover? We'll answer all these questions and more in our review. Show Open Our Thoughts on Scooby DooScooby Doo and Krypto Too ReviewTotal Runtime - 00:45:05Thanks as always for listening.
