If you're able to watch this on YouTube I'd recommend that, since with visual aids it's so much better : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej-biPgGMzE But if not, the audio works too :) *** I did a speech via Skype over in BC a couple of weeks ago, a big thanks to them for having me. I am posting it on my podcast with their permission. This talk is based on a blog post I did recently: http://nicemangos.blogspot.ca/2017/09/forbidden-intersectionality-liberal-ex.html and an interview I did with Cracked http://www.cracked.com/personal-experiences-2524-im-liberal-ex-muslim-this-my-life.html I could just take the easy, rewarding route and be the anti-sjw, friend of RW ex Muslim...but those gosh darn principles, stop me from it :/ So...We had a pretty fiery Q&A session after the talk....which ended up sort of being a good example of my frustrations with both the ex-muslim movement and atheist/skeptic movement in general right now. Unfortunately the call kept cutting during the Q&A so some questions weren't recorded - and some of my responses weren't either (I can tell you though that I do not agree with the statement that Christina H. Sommers is a great feminist, i didn't catch the other name). But the two most interesting and angriest Qs were luckily recorded. I think they are useful to illustrate the very lack of nuance on this topic I was lamenting throughout the speech. A fun episode with longtime friend and network producer, Mike May (Filmmaker1019 in the chatroom). We open up with Mike May dropping some Star Wars: Episode VIII rumors that he stumbled across on Reddit. Next stop in the conversation is sparked by news of layoffs within the dying Bernie Sanders campaign, and an increasingly bad situation in Venezuela. From there, we talk about the mindset and mentality of those who are a part of our modern day social 'revolutions' and that begins to bring us to the recent appearances by Christina H Sommers, Milo Yiannopoulos, and Steven Crowder at UMASS. We talk about the insane reactions of students, and pick apart a short video linked to us by RumbleAndRoar. This video was a LOT of fun, and finally we end with simultaneous called by RumbleAndRoar and JonnyVroom. A great Wednesday night, I must say. We may be running re-runs on Thursday and Friday, but I will still be live on the 9pm EST Thursday night broadcast of Zedalza New York (ZNY)...so there's that. It's our last episode on campus protests and political correctness for a while, we promise! But it's a fun one. David and Tamler welcome two guests on the opposite side of the debate spectrum. Recent Yale Alum, cognitive scientist, freelance writer, (and writer of novel-length emails) Vlad Chituc joins both of us to defend the Yale protests, provide some context, and explain why the good people at FIRE are hypocritical about free expression. In the middle segment, Tamler talks with his notorious stepmother and "factual feminist" Christina Hoff Sommers (author of "Who Stole Feminism?" and "The War Against Boys"). They argue over whether the new political correctness poses a serious threat to campus climate, whether it is even "new," and over whether one is obligated to smoke weed on Joe Rogan's podcast. Plus, Tamler gets all huffy about the panic over terrorism, and we read some email responses to VBW Episode 78 ("Wizards Uprising"). Oh, and we have a recording a date set for the Mr. Robot episode!LinksVlad Chituc [vladchituc.com]Christina Hoff Sommers [aei.org]"Fear in the Air, Americans Look Over Their Shoulders" [nytimes.com]The Coddling of the American Mind [theatlantic.com]Who Stole Feminism by Christina H.
