In this episode Gino, "Magic Master" Kyle, and Giantbomb's Matthew Rorie discuss Kamigawa Neon Dynasty! We cover each color's overrated, underrated, and best cards. This is a surprisingly well made set! It's the first time we haven't predicted a ban in a while! Welcome to the first official episode of Defending Your Movie. Now today's episode is a little different because we aren't actually talking about a movie. This is a chat with current Giant Bomb employee Matthew Rorie about his former job as one of the founding members of Screened. Screened was a film website that I was a major fan of and deep in the community. Defending Your Movie as a podcast is an homage to a video feature that started on Screened. For me, doing this podcast right meant having someone on who ran the site as a way to thank them and pay tribute to the content that they made which I hope to keep alive. Rorie was kind enough to come on the show and talk about his time on Screened and how it was kind of a fly by the seat of your pants operation. We also get into some fun movie chat in the back half. We will be getting to movies starting with episode 2 but for now I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane about a little movie website that could! In this episode Gino, Pete, and Em discuss the Project Triangle Strategy demo with special guest Matthew Rorie of Giantbomb.com. We cover the demo's odd choice to start in the middle of the story with little context, it's very FF Tactics-style gameplay, and its Game of Thrones world. We conclude by asking everyone if they were inspired by the demo to actually pick up the full game. You can follow Rorie @frailgesture on Twitter. Matthew Rorie comes on the podcast this week to talk about life at Virginia Tech during the peak of the Michael Vick era, proper puppy petting techniques, and his various writing jobs over the years. We also discuss the art of writing a video game guide, his work at Obsidian Entertainment, and the experience of building Screened.com from the ground up. Finally we discuss his role at Giant Bomb, and our expectations for PAX Prime (as this was recorded before we traveled to Seattle). Enjoy. You can follow Matthew on Twitter at @frailgesture, matthewrorie.tumblr.com, and of course Giantbomb.com. Run Time - 1:01:02 Send your feedback to feedback@justtalkingpodcast.com.
