In today's Daily Fix: Xbox's Phil Spencer isn't sold on making a mid-generation "pro" version of the Xbox Series X. Speaking with Rolling Stone, he doesn't think the upgrades would be worth it, especially for the price you'd pay. Currently the PS5 Pro is the most powerful gaming console available, but you're paying an eye-watering $700 for it. However, Xbox is working on a handheld, but Spencer also said to not expect one of those for a few years. In other news, Blizzard is staffing up for what appears to be an open-world shooter that could be set in the StarCraft universe. If you're old enough to remember, this isn't the first StarCraft shooter Blizzard has attempted: StarCraft Ghost was stuck in development hell and then eventually cancelled back in the PS2/GameCube era. And finally, Obsidian's highly-anticipated RPG, Avowed, can be purchased for the low low price of around 5 World of Warcraft tokens. Each token is worth about 1.3 million in in-game gold, so the base version of Avowed will set you back 6.5 million gold.

Hey Geeks! We're finally back. Sorry for the long wait. This week we talk about another Star Wars game got cancelled, Stadia is the embodiment of the "This is Fine" meme, Sony pulls out of PAX East, StarCraft Ghost leaked and Blizzard tried to stop the hype, and DC says they can't be Marvel. Additionally, we review Brahms: The Boy 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, Fantasy Island and Locke and Key. Close: "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel
With so many missteps, it seems that Blizzard need a win. Maybe that's why a new leak of some Starcraft Ghost Gameplay was released. Why did it leak now? That's not the only question on our minds though. How much wil the PlayStation 5 actually cost? What should Ubisoft do with the Assassins Creed franchise next? Is the Sonic Movie any good? We attempt to to answer all these questions and more!

ModChat is alive! In this episode of ModChat I start with the open source release of xaio360, the previously unreleased Xbox 360 AIO glitch chip and SPI flasher from Team REBUG! The original Xbox gets some love in the form of a new announcement from FATXplorer getting original Xbox HDD support. With all the news of backporting games to work on jailbroken 5.05 PS4 consoles, I took some time to discuss this and how it has been happening. Team Xecuter's latest products were announced in the forms of SX Core and SX Lite, making EVERY Switch on the market capable of running homebrew! I also had to touch up on the recent news of a build of StarCraft: Ghost getting preserved for the original Xbox.
Is it OK to be cool with losing? Does every loss while playing a competitive video game, some pickup basketball at the local gym, or a pie-eating contest need to fill you with unholy rage? According to video game influencer and streaming superstar, Ninja, abso-damn-lutely! Ninja recently took to Twitter to call out people who are OK with losing at video games. The remark peeled back the virtual curtain on his competitive nature, and it sparked a debate amongst the gaming community over good sportsmanship and how people respond to winning and losing at video games. Is it really, just a game? John, Joe, and Buffa have strong opinions! Then, StarCraft: Ghost returns from the dead! The much hyped but ill-fated shooter from Blizzard resurfaced online a few days ago. First as found footage, and then someone uploaded what exists of the actual game for people to play. The three dads were right in the thick of all the StarCraft: Ghost hoopla back in the Xbox, PS2, and GameCube days. Find out what they think about this surprise reveal. In other news, Nintendo unveils a new Switch Lite color, there's an Animal Crossing Direct, and Joe has some more thoughts on Kentucky Route Zero. It's another gem of an episode on the road to 100!

We throw ourselves back 17 years (crazy, we know) to 2002, a lawless gaming wasteland, then GTA III ruled the world, early 00's nu metal was all the rage, and that time Tony skipped his sophomore biology final to go buy Metallica's "St. Anger" (He would have just rather taken the final). Starcraft Ghost was also apparently a thing? Soak yourself in nostalgia bliss in the newest episode of the WHG podcast!

TCW Podcast Episode 055 - Blizzard: Hellfire and The World… of WarCraft Part two of our look into Blizzard Entertainment. We start in the late 90's with the finishing of Diablo, and the development of StarCraft. We see the evolution and cross influences of the Blizzard cinematics department on the course of Diablo. This is also the same time we learn of how Blizzard is not afraid to kill an essentially finished game if it is not up to their standards, Lord of the Clans, and StarCraft: Ghost being the more famous examples of this. We see how Blizzard employees' love for games influences where they take projects. The influence of the game Sacrifice on WarCraft III, Quake on Overwatch, and EverQuest with World of WarCraft. On the business side of things we see how Blizzard is not fully immune from the influences of the parent company that controls them at the time. Conversely, we see how Blizzard's success, specifically with WoW, managed to reshape the entire game industry before finishing with the creation of Activision-Blizzard. We will see how their decisions involving modern game trends may affect things in the future! This week sees the premiere of All Things Good And Nerdy Episode 004 - Its A Trap! Want to know where the episode title came from? I guess you better tune into the podcast! Fair warning to everyone, The Avengers are discussed again, and there will be spoilers. This movie is far too good to pass up talking about! The other topics this week included an update on the status of Star Wars: The Old Republic and its declining users, the rise of casual gaming and its impact on Nintendo and Sony, Zynga potentially suing to trademark the usage of 'ville', the announcement of Axe Cop the cartoon, the death of traditional TV viewing and the rise of the streaming movement, rumors about a Steam console, and making fun of the long delayed Starcraft Ghost. Also, there was a conversation about The Avengers and if that movie had made The Dark Knight Rises less exciting. The group thinks the movie will be good, but it will be a tough fight against The Avengers. Finally, there was a spirited debate about Maxim's Gamergirl contest and whether this reinforces poor stereotypes. This topic will be back, we promise that! The panel this week consisted of: The Adahy - www.twitch.tv/theadahygaming or @TheAdahy Chris - www.nerdsoftheroundtable.com or @RoundTableNerds This week also featured two special guest hosts as Naki was unavailable. We had both Ryan and Michelle sitting in this week. Thanks to Michelle for guest hosting again this week! Ryan - Plus2Cents.blogspot.com Michelle - @MichelleEaley It was a fun panel this week. Next week everyone should be back and we'll have another guest host. Remember if you're interested in guest hosting let us know! If you only remember one thing from this week's episode, remember that some people just want to cut you.
Let’s talk about something we aren’t close to being qualified for, remaking video games. Justin, Cole, Ethan, Gifford, and Christina throw out their ideas for and break your memories of X-COM, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Blast Corps, and Eternal Darkness. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow We’re not going to pretend that we know what we are talking about, but the fact is we love a lot of games and have ideas on what would make them better to us. Of course we can’t get to those ideas without goin off-topic first with our Threesomes of the Week and Christina’s adventure into voice acting against a 4 year-old. The On the Spot question asks if remakes should stick to their original’s genres which begs the question, what the hell happened to StarCraft: Ghost? In our first (of multiple) Remake It So discussion the cast delves into some dangerous territory by attempting to infuse some fresh ideas into fix some classics in Zelda and Final Fantasy. Then we return to the game that started this topic on the site originally by going insane over Eternal Darkness once again. We let you know what to expect for the Horrible Night Out this Friday and ask for your input into choosing a game for our next Horrible All Nighter. Cole takes us home by getting a little too excited about all of these new fighting games and Street Fighter X Tekken.
