This week on PDSMiOS, we entered a world of virtual reality and landscaping with the movie The Lawnmower Man from 1992! Mild mannered Jobe (Jeff Fahey) becomes the lab rat of Dr Angelo (Pierce Brosnan) who really wants Virtual Reality to work out. Like, real bad. I know what you're saying, we have the Gear VR and the Optimus Rip or whatever nowadays; but back in the day? VR was just a headache with graphics on par Minecraft, if Minecraft was made by a baby. But one of themes of this movie is technology and how it seems to leap and bound every year into new territory. It's only a matter of time before YOU, THE LISTENER, are left behind. This week on PDSMiOS, we watched the listener recommended movie The Guyver from 1991! Based on the work by Yoshiki Takaya, this particular version is about an idiot who doesn't know Aikido very well but gets a suit of bio-armor which allows him to throw around some monsters. SUMMED UP! Featuring the acting style of the cast of Re-Animator, several special effects artists, and Mark Hamill with a mustache, this beat-em-up action creature feature is almost so bad it's good. ALMOST. This week Joel chose Krull as his pick, and then immediately starting complaining about it. So why Krull? I mean, it is a fantasy movie with a cyclops, sword fights, lasers, space beasts, magic, tigers, and Liam Neeson. It has something special that cannot be denied, despite being a pretty hardcore Star Wars rip.
