This week on The Nikki & Brie Show, everyone's asking the same question: Is Nikki starring in a holiday movie?! Not quite—but her new Google AI Shopping Ad has people convinced she's headlining a Hallmark film. Nikki spills the behind-the-scenes on playing “Holly,” starring opposite Taylor Kinney (yes, from Chicago Fire) and getting mothered by Donna Kelce! From cut kissing scenes to turtlenecks, Nikki shares what really happened on set and why Hallmark might need to give her and Brie a call ASAP.Then it's time to get unhinged in the “Hear Me Out” game: a hilarious round of unexpected crush confessions. Animated characters? Nikki's team Shrek. Fictional villains? Brie's trying to fix The Joker. And don't even get them started on hot UPS drivers and flight attendants. They're revealing who gives “dad vibes,” which professions are sneakily sexy, and the weird scenarios that shouldn't be hot but are (spoiler: getting coffee orders wrong is a BIG no).Nikki & Brie just might be ready for their rom-com era. There is some great, weird and just plain crazy news to talk through today. Have Hot Toys jumped the shark? Is Ben about to drop $1500 on a Soundwave? More Mondo, more Blokees and of course, More Todd. Franks TMNT collection lacks a life size element - could this change soon? Then we compare the newly released Origins Fright Zone with the vintage one - which in itself gives Scot the fright of his life! This week on Men of Steel, Case and Jmike are joined by Kris Ingersoll (Media/Lit, Batman By The Numbers) to talk about the 1990 World's Finest miniseries! We dig into how this story redefined the dynamic between Superman and Batman, the tone of early '90s DC, and why this team-up still holds up decades later. #MenOfSteelPod #WorldsFinest #Superman #Batman #DCComics #ComicsPodcast #KrisIngersoll Support us on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/CertainPOVMedia Men of Steel Full Episode Originally aired: December 5, 2025 Edited by Sophia Ricciardi Scored by Geoff Moonen Certain Point Of View is a podcast network brining you all sorts of nerdy goodness! Topic: The 1990 DC Comics miniseries World's Finest by Dave Gibbons and Steve Rood. Contextual Background of the 1990 World's Finest (02:51 - 05:34) The miniseries releases shortly after Crisis on Infinite Earths and John Byrne's Man of Steel reboot (1986). Post-Dark Knight Returns, Batman and Superman's relationship had changed, characterized by distance rather than camaraderie. ️ Plot Overview (05:34 - 08:14) Lex Luthor and Joker team up to take over Gotham and Metropolis with intertwined but largely separate schemes. Batman and Superman investigate, culminating in events involving an orphanage, a nuclear reactor, and city-wide explosions. Decompression and Story Structure Critique (08:14 - 11:34) Discussion of story pacing issues: The narrative is elongated with side elements (e.g., orphan kids) that do not cohesively tie in. Emphasis on character moments over tight plotting. Initial Impressions and Artistic Elements (11:34 - 17:59) Chris praises the visual storytelling and art, referencing the use of parallel imagery and distinctive flashback watercolor style. Noted the deliberate design choices to echo Silver Age and Max Fleischer era Superman and early Batman. ️ Characterization of Villains and Supporting Cast (17:59 - 30:39) Joker portrayed in a "zany," less menacing mode, more a prankster than murderously malicious. Lex Luthor features a robotic hand and operates like a mob boss, balancing businessman and villain traits. Character Dynamics and Relationships (30:39 - 40:21) Lois Lane and Bruce Wayne's interactions highlight mutual suspicion and gradual respect. Batman and Superman's knowledge of each other's secret identities is subtle initially, revealed more overtly in third issue. ️ Themes and Continuity Notes (40:21 - 50:27) Orphanage is a thematic midpoint between Gotham and Metropolis, symbolizing shared orphan backgrounds of Batman, Superman, and villain. The book emphasizes orphans and legacy but does not fully develop these thematic elements. Technical and Artistic Praise (50:27 - 52:58) Art and character design praised for classic yet fresh look; great use of tableau pages showing Gotham and Metropolis. Noted the Batmobile's stylish design and Batman's athletic, sleek physique. Character in Action: Batman and Superman (52:58 - 59:55) Batman characterized as efficient, brutal, and action-focused. His use of Batarangs and disguises recognized as authentic. Superman rendered as powerful but more grounded Burn era 'cop,' balancing investigative journalism and heroic strength. Artistic and Thematic Highlights (59:55 - 01:09:46) Memorable moments include Superman carrying a nuclear reactor into space to save Metropolis. Subtle details such as Clark Kent's mannerisms and investigative approach noted. Overall Assessment and Legacy (01:09:46 - 01:14:36) The miniseries serves as a valuable snapshot of Batman and Superman dynamics post-Crisis and pre-mid-90s crossovers. While the narrative is considered "vibes-over-story," the series offers essential character moments, iconic imagery, and era-specific continuity. Conclusion and Promotions (01:14:36 - 01:19:44) Guests share social media handles and podcast info. Hosts plug "Trade School" podcast and Certain POV Discord for further comic discussions.
In this solo episode of Challenge Accepted, Frank finally sits down with the iconic animated film Batman Mask of the Phantasm after years of calling it a major Batman blind spot. He shares his deep love for Batman The Animated Series, breaks down Bruce Timm's distinctive art style, and explores why Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill's performances still define Batman and Joker for entire generations. After watching the movie for the first time, Frank gives his immediate reaction, digging into Gotham's timeless look, the horror-inspired presentation of the Phantasm, and the emotional core of Bruce Wayne's struggle between vengeance and happiness. He connects the film to noir storytelling, classic Batman comics, and the larger DC animated universe, then closes with a fun run of trivia and behind the scenes facts that expand the appreciation for this fan favorite. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 Intro, Challenge Accepted format, and Frank's Batman blind spots 02:30 Bruce Timm's animation philosophy and the look of Batman The Animated Series 04:30 Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill casting stories and why their performances are iconic 06:30 Why the animated series villains work so well and why Phantasm is so intriguing 07:30 First time reaction right after watching Mask of the Phantasm 09:00 Gotham's design, red skies, and Shirley Walker's orchestral score 11:30 Phantasm as a horror figure, camera angles, and visual storytelling 18:30 Bruce Wayne at his parents' grave, the split between Bruce and Batman, and the film's central theme 25:00 Joker's reveal, color palette, and his connection to Gotham's decay 31:00 Phantasm as Batman's dark mirror and what happens when you lose yourself in the mask 34:45 Trivia, comic influences, and fun behind the scenes details Key Takeaways Batman Mask of the Phantasm fills a huge Batman blind spot for Frank and instantly earns a place alongside the best stories from Batman The Animated Series. Bruce Timm's simple musculature, straight line and curved line design, and heavy use of shading create a timeless, stylized Gotham that still holds up today. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill's performances as Batman and Joker remain definitive, from Batman's grounded intensity to Joker's legendary, unsettling laugh. The film uses horror language for Phantasm, with low angles, unstoppable pacing, and ghostlike presence that make the character feel more like a slasher villain. Gotham's red skies, bold silhouettes, and Shirley Walker's orchestral score combine into a powerful atmosphere that instantly recalls 90s DC animation. The emotional core of the story is Bruce asking his parents' permission to be happy, showing how tied his mission is to their memory and how fragile that balance is. Phantasm works as a dark mirror of Batman, showing what happens when someone loses the "Bruce Wayne" part of themselves and falls fully into vengeance. Joker could technically be removed from the plot, yet his presence elevates the movie by contrasting with Gotham's world and quietly proving how smart and observant he really is. The film leans heavily into classic noir structure, complete with twists, flashbacks, and a tragic love story that feels very early 90s yet still emotionally sharp. Behind the scenes, the movie draws from comics like Batman Year One and Year Two, and includes fun sound and design Easter eggs that reward longtime fans. Quotes "That laugh is iconic. That is my childhood." "You forget how good this show is, and the movie by extension, until you see it again." "Phantasm is Batman. Phantasm is Batman." "If he didn't have that alley moment, we would have a villain, not a hero." "It's okay to love Batman. He is a great superhero, and we're so lucky they keep finding new ways to tell his story." The real truth is this." * "Candace Owens is leading people down well-paved rabbit trails."* **Charlie Kirk (CK) Event as a Staged Psyop** * The purported assassination of Charlie Kirk (CK) is viewed as a "staged **Psyop**" or "magic show". * The CK event was "likely planned, at least scheduled... in the mid-90s". * The narrative structure involves three phases: "predictive programming", "concurrent programming" (e.g., Charlie Sheen discussing JFK assassination on Joe Rogan just before the CK news), and "reinforcement programming" (Candace Owens dominating the topic). * "I think that politics... needs to be looked at as part of the **Psyop** entertainment complex." * "The assumption that people die in **Psyops**" is described as a "guardrail" that prevents people from viewing media fakery in its entirety. * "So now the dominant narratives on this topic are saturated with the alt media perspective clashing with the mainstream. And that's it." * "But the assumption that they're dead is sort of a, it's a guardrail."* **Political Theater and Societal Control** * The entire political system is characterized as "bread and circuses" designed to give "subjugated populations" an "illusion of power". * The political horseshoe split maintains division, enforced by provocateurs. * QAnon is described as a "cult" involving a "syncretic blend of Christianity and politics". * "I think MAGA's on the way out. I think it served its purpose." * "It's clear to me... that there's such a heavy-handed control over worldview that it constitutes a monopoly..." * "I mean, you have to recognize the effectiveness of this systemic media fakery and manipulation of worldview through the fabrication of historic events."* **Predictive Programming and Monolithic Symbolism** * Historical events are forewarned through "predictive programming," acting as "product placement for future fake events". * This manipulative worldview is described as "monolithic," drawing parallels to the monolith in *2001 Space Odyssey*. The monolith represents "the ubiquitous worldview that is a merging of real and fake. Hyper-reality...". * The concept of a "design authority" or "Saturnian presence" is linked to figures like the Man in Black in *Westworld* and Ed Harris's character in *The Truman Show*, who controls time and space. * "I look at it as product placement for future fake events." * "I think what he's giving away with that movie is that we are being moved into this space odyssey." * "The design authority, the meta-scripters, they are the Saturnian presence here." * "If you can plot a timeline and plan in advance 30 years prior to major historically significant events, you control time."* **Color and Archetypal Symbolism (Green/Joker)** * The color green is frequently associated with class warfare and left-wing revolutionary archetypes. * The Wicked Witch in *Wicked* is described as "100 antifa coded", rebelling against a "fascist wizard of oz". * The Joker archetype is highlighted as a "class warrior" linked to "kill the rich" themes. * "So the Joker is accosted by some rich guys on a subway, and he kills them. And he's now a hero." * "The green beret, the Joker, kill the rich, kill the CEOs. This is like a building theme..."* **The Nature of Reality and Disbelief** * The mainstream perspective often equates to the information provided by systems like "Wikipedia or chat GPT". * True skepticism is based on "informed disbelief," achieved by examining all sides, rather than "low information belief". * Psychological operations are only effective because "empathic people weren't being triggered and emotionally manipulated". * "The reason she's number one is she's propped up. Welcome back to SuperHero Homies! In this episode, we launch the ULTIMATE Superhero Actor Tournament — a 16-actor bracket showdown to decide who is the greatest superhero actor of all time. From Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to Chris Evans' Captain America, Heath Ledger's Joker, Christopher Reeve's Superman, and more, we break down iconic performances, legendary moments, and why each actor deserves (or doesn't deserve) to advance. But first… we kick things off with a fun cold open, where we briefly discuss Wicked For Good (no spoilers), and then dive into three major video games: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and Expedition 33. We cover the pros, cons, gameplay, storytelling, and whether they live up to the hype. Then it's on to the main event:
You have had your Thanksgiving dinner. Now it's time for dessert, the final Thanksgiving parade of the 1980s. As always, highlights of pop culture from the year make appearances, as well as ads for the must-have items for the holiday season. In 1989, we also get a weird appearance from The Joker (no Cesar Romero and his orange wedges) plus a troupe of dancing chickens.
Marc Bernardin slides into the digital Scum & Villainy Cantina with an installment of Black Man Beyond with special guest Princess Weekes ( @Princess_Weekes ) to give their perspectives on the Netflix original FRANKENSTEIN, Edgar Wright's THE RUNNING MAN, and the Apple TV+, Original PLURIBUS, with a hint of audience Q&A to wrap it up. ►► Your Holiday wardrobe awaits! Tim and Guy are up against it. It's only the second watch and Guy fears the pair are in too deep a water already. That is a scary prospect for two men looking down the barrel of 12 more watches in just 4 short days. Let us gaze upon the beautiful cinematography and excellent acting of Joker 2 and marvel at how it stills somehow manages to be a really stinky film. Tim offers advice for his friends in the MRA community and swears to all Holy powers above that David Bowie most probably played The Sims.Support us, and watch these episodes early, ad-free and in video form (plus bonus content) at twioat.substack.com Hosted on Acast. For this Thanksgiving-week DC Spotlight covering the books of November 26, 2025, Jace and Rocky tackle one of the biggest slates of the year and find a lively mix of event chaos, holiday charm, grounded character work, and absolute-universe bombast, even as they debate whether the buzz around the Absolute line and DC KO is starting to overshadow the strong "regular" DC books. They unpack how Superman #32 quietly becomes one of the most essential KO tie-ins by finally revealing how the villains escaped the Phantom Zone and entered the tournament; how Flash #27 and Justice League Unlimited provide fun but mixed connective tissue to KO; and how Christopher Condon's Green Arrow #30 delivers another emotional gut-punch of Ollie, Roy, and Lian's family drama as the run nears its end. They also spotlight the gritty precision of Gabriel Hardman's new Black Label debut Arcadia with Batman, Green Arrow, and the Question, revisit the escalating mystery in Immortal Legend: Batman, cheer on the kaiju spectacle of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, and take a surprisingly deep dive into the holiday anthology I Saw Ma Hunkel Kissing Santa Claus, praising the meta-hilarious Animal Man riff, the charming Supergirl/Brainiac 5 romance, and a Dr. Light/Atom story that may even seed future key elements. But the episode ultimately belongs to the Absolute Universe, with the guys debating what works in Absolute Wonder Woman #14 before completely losing their minds over Absolute Batman #14, a gloriously unhinged action-packed fight finale to the Abomination arc filled with skyscraper-dropping theatrics, venom-fueled warfare, Killer Croc callbacks, and a chilling Joker twist that redefines Bane's future. They celebrate Nick Dragotta's wildly ambitious layouts—now finally earning the industry recognition his East of West work always deserved—while reflecting on how the issue crystallizes what makes this version of Batman so different: a hero who fights not to win, but because fighting is the point. The episode wraps with their week-end rankings, teases of upcoming Fireside Chats, YouTube shout-outs, and a Thanksgiving sendoff that doubles as a rallying cry for the week's standout title: "Welcome to Gotham."
It's time for our annual tradition here at BatChat, up there with cranberry sauce from a can, stuffing that's a little too dry and avoiding conversations about politics with your red baseball cap wearing relatives: it's all ages Thanksgiving. Three stories of Batman for the whole family come in some very different flavors this year: the next volume of the Webtoons Wayne Family Adventures Strips, a younger readers OGN that retells classic children's stories with a Batman twist and the second volume of the strangest concept we've ever talked about, the manga where Joker raises a de-aged baby Batman. Happy holidays to those who celebrate here in the states, and know we are thankful to all of you who listen. Juggalo News Presents: The Carnival Grounds with Madd Maxxx and Reverend Television
On this long awaited episode of The Carnival Grounds, Maxxx and the Reverend Television finally make their return to the airwaves after more than a year of waiting with a very special guest, OG Juggalo Legend Boppo the Clown, as we discuss the 3rd Joker's Card in the Second Deck, the albums of Lost & Found that are The Marvelous Missing Link. This very thinly veiled homage to the duality of Heaven and Hell as described in Catholicism/Christianity has always been a very polarizing album to the Juggalos, some love it, most hate it, few are indifferent to it. We discuss the parallels between "God" and "Religion" as well as just kick it old school like you would imagine 3 elder Juggalos would. Don't miss our return to the pod, because now that the final card in the Second Deck has dropped we can finally bring this portion to a conclusion. The Carnival Grounds will always remain, but once we reach The Naught, things will inevitably change. Stay Tuned!

Nikola Jokic showed up tonight with a monster 44 points, 13 rebounds, and 7assists game but the rest of the team struggled to be consistent tonight. The Sacramento Kings got hot from downtown in the 3rd Quarter and never looked back. Russell Westbrook had revenge on his mind in the 4th Quarter and he had the last laugh this time. Despite solid outings from Murray, Johnson, and Watson, the Nuggets will have to try again on Monday vs Memphis. Jason Kosmicki was on the call from Ball Arena for this one.

Our hosts return to the podcave and sit down to review the episode that flaunts itself all over town, Joker's Millions. Alex and Will discuss the many redesigned characters that appear in this episode, including The Joker, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and The Penguin. Then they shift their attention to the storyline and discuss it's more comical and silly side. Such as Joker committing crimes only for the money, or the fact that he's living in an apartment that would make even Harvey Bullock feel dirty to step foot in. Our hosts also notice that Nightwing goes on a "just friends" date with Barbara to the Iceberg Lounge, Batman discovers a new way to interrogate thugs, and Joker gets imprisoned for tax evasion and meets a new character named D-Pop (don't ask what the D stands for). The conversation explores how working with veteran producer Roger Lima reshaped the band's creative approach, the importance of trust and collaboration among bandmates, and how this song in particular required little reworking.
