El colectivo de Futbolistas Unidxs anunció que dispuso "acompañar" al candidato presidencial de Unión por la Patria (UxP), Sergio Massa, en el balotaje del domingo y afirmó que "no queremos con nuestro silencio ser cómplices de los discursos de odio", en referencia al postulante libertario Javier Milei. El exfutbolista Hugo Lamadrid expresó que "son momentos para dejar la tibieza y el temor a un costado, porque el temor que se puede sentir es ínfimo con lo que puede llegar a venir". Los futbolistas consideraron que "no podemos ni queremos quedarnos callados" frente al balotaje porque están en juego "los consensos mínimos de la democracia y de la convivencia social". Y calificaron como "preocupantes" las posiciones políticas que representa Milei "no sólo por su contenido, sino también por sus formas, algo que en nuestra profesión intentamos ponderar cada fin de semana".
