Welcome to a new year of Stoops2Stages. This week Gastor got to sit down with Jeff Simmermon. We had a chance to talk about Jeff's background in writing, how he fell in love with storytelling, the role his imagination and art background played in his storytelling, and his reasons for pursuing stand up. On why he got into storytelling 8 years ago: I've always been the person who was telling the story that people wanted to hear. [12:15] On his time at art school: I always loved critique day. Other people hated it, but I loved it because I got to explain and justify. I got to tell the story behind the painting. So my stories got bigger and bigger, and my paintings got smaller and smaller. [15:30] On the time he hosted a standup show at Carolines for Michael Che: I was wearing a 3 piece suit. I sweated through all of it. People didn’t get laid because of me. I watched it not happen. I came away from it feeling horrible but wanting to conquer that environment. [24:38] JeffSimmermon.com Stoops2Stages.com
