Steven Bennett, RHS Shows Director, is delighted with the wealth of original content in the Show Gardens and Show features for this year's show: "The Show is really proving itself as the number one destination for visitors to get inspiration, tips and advice from expert gardeners and nurserymen," he explained. "On top of this, you can stock up on everything you need for the garden this summer, from the hundreds of exhibitors."

Lucinda is Senior Shows Development Manager responsible for content across several RHS shows, including RHS Flower Show Birmingham at BBC Gardeners’ World Live, and those at the RHS Horticultural Halls in Westminster. She is also Acting Head of Shows Development for RHS Flower Show Tatton Park. Lucinda has a great affection for BBC Gardeners’ World Live, having visited since she was a child. She joined the RHS in 2011 having previously run her own plant centre and been a gardening journalist and author.
Gardeners’ World Magazine editor, Lucy Hall, came to gardening through a love of food, nurtured by Mum’s great cooking and her grandad’s tomato-scented greenhouse. She learned to garden through trial and error, growing anything edible that could survive life in a 2nd storey balcony windowbox until escaping the city for a tiny cottage garden and allotment. Now making a new organic garden in a rural frost-pocket of Gloucestershire, hardiness and wildlife-appeal are the two prized assets of every plant that makes it through the gate. When torn away from the garden, Lucy has worked on two of the UK’s biggest gardening magazines: first as deputy editor of Gardens Illustrated, then deputy and now editor of Gardeners’ World Magazine. She has also edited a classical music magazine and written about travel, food and culture for newspapers and magazines.
Chris Collins will be doing seed sowing and potting demonstrations for children at Gardeners' Green over the weekend of the 2013 show. Chris Collins began life as a gardener with a traditional style apprentice on Brighton Parks back in the mid-eighties. Going on to do his degree at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh. Time working abroad both in Cameroon, at the Limbe Botanic Garden and a five year stint in Japan, were followed by a period at Kew Botanic Garden and then three years as head gardener at Westminster Abbey. Chris’s television career began with the BBC 2 series The Plantsman, which was followed on by regular appearances on This Morning, BBC breakfast and UK style television. Series included Garden Rivals and Digging for Victory. However the main bulk of his work in the last eight years has been as the Blue Peter gardener which has led him to work closely with schools and children. He has been active in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Campaign for school gardening and the Horticultural Trades Association, Plant for life campaign, as well as working with charities such as School Food Matters and Trees for Cities. Chris was awarded the Prince Phillip City and guild medal for contribution to Horticulture in 2008. More recently Chris presented the science documentary on BBC4 ‘The Wonder of Weeds’ and became director of Horticulture with Vegetableseeds.net.
In seven years of exhibiting Tony has been awarded eight gold medals at BBC Gardeners’ World Live as well as RHS Chelsea, RHS Hampton Court, RHS Tatton Park Flower Shows. He has also achieved three RHS Best in Show awards. "For last years BBC Gardeners' World Live I created what some people felt was a rather challenging design called Dominion. It went down well with the judges although the public did seem to be a bit bemused! This year's design is, I think, a little more accessible. It's all about perspective, a subject that is very important to gardeners. Perhaps the first thing that gardeners think of when you say perspective is the kind of effect that can be achieved by tapering a lawn or path so as to create a false perspective, making the garden look longer. This can also be done with plants, largest leaves closest to the viewer and smaller as they move away. In future posts I will be exploring the many forms of perspective including the less obvious. For now I am keeping my fingers crossed that my Gunnera plants grow large and small enough in time for the show. I have two species of Gunnera growing in a heated glasshouse; the large manicata and the diminutive magellanica, now that's a contrast!"
