Anika Moa is a ubiquitous presence in the New Zealand media and entertainment industry. A singer-songwriter, former radio host, and television presenter, she's been involved in the industry for over two decades. Moa began working as a radio host for NZME in August of 2019, starting at the Hits and later moving over to Flava's Breakfast show which she hosted alongside Stacey Morrison and Mike Puru, before leaving in late 2022. She told Newstalk ZB's Francesca Rudkin that while she does miss the industry, leaving has made a difference to her health. “I was so relieved,” Moa revealed. “I've had nearly a year off, apart from filming TV shows, which is pretty easy, and I feel so much better.” Being so involved in the industry and trying to raise her children at the same time was taking its toll on her. “I feel happier as well,” she told Rudkin. “I'm not juggling fifteen balls in the air and I'm just focusing on being a mum.” Moa revealed that people were actually surprised she lasted as long as she did on radio, as she's been known to flutter from project to project as a result of her ADHD. “I get bored really easily,” she said frankly. “There's pros and cons to having ADHD.” Having a neurodiversity like ADHD is something of a battle between your brain constantly seeking new and interesting experiences and the limitations of your mental and physical wellbeing. “On the one hand I want to rest, but on the other, I just want to meet people.” Moa said that her ADHD diagnosis wasn't a surprise for her, and personally, there wasn't much change, but she has realised the impact her ADHD has on her relationships, both good and bad. “When you're so close to someone and you can be up and down in moods, or bored or not bored, or wanting this or wanting that, you realise how that affects the other person.” “All those kind of things are quite conflicting.” ADHD is not the only diagnosis Moa has received in the past few years, as she learned in 2022 that her Type 2 diabetes had become Type 1. “It's been the best thing that's ever happened to me because it's really kicked my ass, but it's been the worst thing that's happened to me. But it's happened.” On top of raising her children, Moa has been taking on a few other projects as well. A big one has been the filming another season of her light-hearted interview show Anika Moa Unleashed, featuring iconic kiwis such as Sir Ashley Bloomfield and Angus Ta. “I love interviewing people,” Moa told Rudkin. “And it's not me interviewing them, it's my other person, it's one of my many people.” Each interview is packed full of activities, painting, rugby training, Moa getting to the core of each notable kiwi. Season three of Anika Moa Unleashed is out on TVNZ+ now. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#11 - It’s not often that a successful athlete is better known for their work after their athletic career, especially when that career involved achievements such as being the UK number 1 ranked men’s singles tennis player, reaching world number 80, winning three ATP titles in men’s doubles, and representing Britain at two Olympic Games (Seoul and Barcelona) and the Davis Cup.However, this is exactly the case for former face of breakfast television show GMTV Andrew Castle. After retiring from professional tennis, Andrew has become one of the most recognisable faces in televised British sport, presenting Basketball, Motor Racing, Golf, and much more alongside his beloved Tennis. Andrew has hosted multiple game shows, and even had a strong run as a contestant in the sixth series of one of Britain’s favourite prime time shows, Strictly Come Dancing. He has subsequently transitioned into current affairs, hosting LBC radio’s weekend breakfast show. With the rapid rise of his impressive broadcast career, it’s no wonder that Andrew is a huge advocate of taking risks, chasing opportunities and having a go. After all, what’s life without that dare-devil spirit?

Dan Macpherson describes his journey from wannabe Professional Triathlete to Hollywood actor, Television presenter, and award-show host.He describes the mental strength he gained from Ironman training and racing and how he was able to transfer that into his pursuit of roles in Hollywood and then optimizing those characters once he got them.Dan discusses the difficulties of coming out of character after months and years immersed in these roles, and the grounding tools he uses to help himself adjust back into his life. Greg and Dan discuss his family, and living life with intent and so much more. His work ethic is truly inspirational… he’s been known to work as an actor for 6 days of the week, and then host television shows like “Dancing with the stars” and “x-factor” on his day off, and train for Ironmans in between. He’s someone that is doing everything he can to uncover his potential. And as a friend of his, it’s been a real joy to watch him pursue his talents both as an actor and athlete. He knows what he wants, he’s taken control of his life and he’s living with purpose, and I for one take great motivation from watching this man work.

Sue’s contribution to A Very British History: The First Black Brummies has been universally well-received, bringing her a slew of awards for her involvement in the programme. They include Outstanding New Talent at the Royal Television Society Midlands Awards 2019 and the 2019 MvisA (Movies Video & Screen Awards) for Best Factual Production. In Autumn 2019 Sue presented and narrated BBC Birmingham’s Inside Out: Slavery and Stately Homes. Between 2010 and 2018 Sue worked as a Family Social Worker at Lillian de Lissa Children’s Centre in Birmingham. Her role was to support all parents and carers with children from 0–5 years focusing on the child’s earliest years by learning and developing life skills so they can grow up healthy, happy, and achieving their goals. During her time with families, she used a range of approaches and resources to improve emotional well-being, social skills and gave opportunities to children to enjoy and achieve. Over the years Sue has worked with various creative projects and across differing art forms, including collaborations with musicians, in theatres, and on radio, as well as educational work mainly within primary schools. For more than fifteen years she has freelanced with Writing West Midlands as a workshop facilitator and performance poet. Most recently she finished a three-year workshop entitled ‘Sparks Young Writing Group’ based at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon; this is just one of Writing West Midlands creative writing projects which aims to promote the long-term benefit of ‘writing’ by working with professional writers to inspire young wordsmiths with their creativity and writing. Since 2001 Sue has been a member of one of Birmingham’s largest writers' groups, Writers without Borders.
A chat with Ms. Divya Vijay, blogger, television presenter, anchor, singer and entrepreneur. She was the anchor of Super Singer Season 3.It was refreshing to hear her take on gender equality, and the ease with which she takes on various roles. She probably makes it seem like she was at the right place at the right time, but like the cliche goes, fortune favors the brave. When the opportunity presents itself, grab it with both hands and make a success out of it, is probably her guiding mantra.I also got an insight of her filial love and how her parents have instilled values by example. The importance of a nurturing and conducive nest, can never be overstated.Hope some young viewers/listeners are encouraged and so to young parents who want their children to do well in life. Is she old enough or seen enough summers to serve as a role model? Yes, say I. Let me know what you think.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/witcast?fan_landing=true)

Khory Hancock (aka 'The Environmental Cowboy') is a man of many talents - Environmental and Sustainability Advisor, Television Presenter, Public Speaker, and Creative Writer - and seemingly flashes his muscles almost as much as our Ocean Protect podcast co-hosts. The focus of this chat is about mitigating and possibly reversing climate change via 'drawdown' - specifically, using deep ocean seaweed farms (or 'marine permaculture arrays') to capture and sequester carbon dioxide out of our atmosphere and into seaweed. So, let's turn on, tune in, and drop out a whole lot of CO2 out of our atmosphere. This is a two-part conversation, with the second (and final) part released next week.More info about Khory is available at https://khoryhancock.com/ For further information about Ocean Protect, check us out at www.oceanprotect.com.au See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

we are back! And my guest today is Nadiya Hussain. Nadiya won the Great British Bake Off in 2015 and won not only the competition but our hearts in the process, securing her the position of National Treasure. She has gone on to write a whole host of cookbooks both for adults and children, she’s turned her hand to writing novels and has presented multiple series for the BBC. She says: I don’t know if I can still call myself a stay at home mum anymore but it feels like I am still one but with the added bonus of doing the most amazing job. I don’t have a title but when anyone asks my kids ‘what does mummy do?’ they always respond with ‘she lives her dreams’. So I suppose that is exactly what I’m doing. So there we are. Feels so lovely to be back. Thank you for listening don’t forget to tell all your friends about the podcast – the more the merrier! And I will see you next week for more desert island dishes.
Lena Stubner 'Had it all'. She was a famous TV Presenter in Sweden who had plenty of money, celebrity friends, designer clothes, was recognised and admired by many and she gave it all up for a far more simplistic life. Now living in a surf hostel at the South of France, Lena talks to us about why she has never been happier, healthier or more fulfilled in life. In this episode we find out why this former Television Presenter abandoned her high flying city life filled with fame and fortune to live in far more simplistic and peaceful surroundings, how she has now removed the television from her home and how too much consumption of TV and the internet can have a real negative impact on our daily emotional state. She also discusses her first hand experience of how the media can manipulate our views on certain global topics and why watching the news can have a huge impact on the decisions we make. And she talks about the importance of why she surfs everyday and the positive impact the outdoors and reconnecting with nature has on our health. Lena reinforces the message of why it is so important to find a way to exercise that you are passionate about so you will keep being excited to do it again and again. She talks about being Vegan and how Lena cured her back and shoulder pains in just one month of changing to a plant based diet after 10 years of being in serious pain. The pressure we put on ourselves to try and look a certain way and fit into society. And she also talks about being a parent and how she tries to bring her daughter up to have the happiest, healthiest and most fulfilled life possible. This episode literally changed out life for the better. Meeting this inspiring and amazing woman was a memory we'll never forget and we're so excited to now share it with you. Australian Television Presenter & Producer, Adventure Addict and once upon a time Miss Australia tells us a wild story about how she helped her brother become the youngest Australian to climb Mt. Everest in 2005. Facebook Twitter Instagram The Outdoor Biz Podcast Please give us a rating and review HERE Show Notes Australian Television Presenter & Producer, Adventure Addict and once upon a time Miss Australia tells us a wild story about how she helped her brother become the youngest Australian to climb Mt. Everest in 2005. First Exposure to the Outdoors Oh I grew up in a very outdoorsy family and I have two older brothers too. You know the boys and I were always outside. I think in the 70s so it was definitely something that my parents put in the milk and we were always outside doing things growing up in Sydney in Australia. Its beautiful down here, incredible climate, so it's just a natural thing today. And then my first real adventure was actually when my brother came to my parents over dinner one night and said "I'm going to be the youngest trying to climb Mt. Everest." He had no mountaineering experience. I mean we live in a flat country. My parents to their credit said "well if you believe in that dream then how are you going to make it happen?" And as a young man he made it happen and I said to him age 19, well I'm going to help you. I've just finished school was between school and college. I put myself on a plane and at 19 spent three months living in Nepal and six weeks at base camp. That was my first real experience of adventure travel. Everything stems back to that trip. Things we talked about UnPlugged Project Advice, tips I think that authenticity of an experience, we really want to go out and hang out with people and to be part of their lives. So I think authenticity and experiential travel will be where it's at. I'm an ethical sustainable traveler as well. I think world is becoming far more conscious of our impact. So how can you know if you're going to get on a plane and travel how can you give back in a different way? How can you be sustainable? How can you leave footprints and nothing else and take away your memories but nothing else? I think people are becoming more and more educated. I think providing that service of sustainability will be rewarded for ethical environmentally sustainable travel. I definitely will pay extra for that. Other Outdoor Activities Surfing, Bungee Jumping Favorite Books Yeah I like books so it's really hard to me to pick a favorite book because I spend hours in a bookstore. I hope that they never disappear from our planet. I think we can learn an awful awful lot from books but I don't have a favorite.
