2026-01-10 | UPDATES #095 | Russia grey fleet transporting illicit oil to keep its war machine ticking over, is becoming the Apocalypse Fleet – a transportation route for covert intelligence operations, military equipment and gear for dictatorial regimes, and potentially illegal nuclear materials, as well as platforms for launching hybrid operations against Russia's adversaries. It must be stopped. Europe's front line is not only in the trenches of Donbas and air defence batteries around Kyiv and Odesa, Dnipro and Kharkiv. It is also sea lanes, chokepoints, and the floating junkyards we politely call Russia's “commercial shipping” lifeline, the grey fleet tankers crawling the globe. “The Apocalypse Fleet” or Russia's ‘shadow' fleet is not just a sanctions-evasion machine for illicit oil. The newest reporting and enforcement actions point to something bigger and uglier: a maritime ecosystem that can move contraband, enable hybrid operations, and — at minimum — create plausible cover for weapons shipments and sensitive technology transfers across an emerging global authoritarian network. The Islamic Republic has hit the switch — cutting internet and communications as protests spread, strikes deepen, and the regime signals it's ready to escalate into lethal repression. Hospitals in numerous towns are reported to be overflowing as the regime turns viscous and murderous. This is not just another flare-up but is radically different in character. Silicon Bites Ep281 | 2025-12-31 | “Putin Wants Ukraine to Succeed?” May be the most misguided, misinformed, and perverse phrase ever uttered by an American president, and it must have grated on Zelenskyy's ears, as he heard it in real-time, yet had to retain some sense of composure. Maybe he heard this phrase as being so at variance with reality, so contrary to history and any factual analysis, that it hit him as a pure absurdity, that could be dismissed out of hand. We just don't know.We could dismiss the phrase too, but unfortunately, I think it is indicative of something dark, which could get considerably darker in 2026 – and this is the strong narrative alignment between the US president and Russia stated objectives and ambitions. REVENGE, REVOLUTION, AND THE BIRTH OF A PATRIOT Colleague Professor Robert G. Parkinson. In 1774, a grief-stricken Logan launched a brutal revenge campaign, killing nearly 20 people to "glut his vengeance." This violence occurred as the Continental Congress began forming an army, calling for rifle companies from the frontier. Ironically, Michael Cresap, the man Logan blamed for the murders, was appointed to lead a Maryland rifle company. As Lord Dunmore launched a war against the Shawnee to secure land for Virginia, Logan delivered his famous lament to his brother-in-law John Gibson, signaling that his personal war was over and he was satisfied with the blood he had spilled.
