Vrex is a Virtual Reality solution for the construction industry that is integrated with Bimsync. A-Lab Architects are thinking far ahead and works closely with Vixel to utilize VR to the max. What are the possibilities ahead, and what lies in the collaboration future of mixed reality?
What role will VR play in the future of Construction? Is it a hype or does it bring real value? Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality, you hear the words buzz everywhere. Facebook bought the VR system Oculus for billions of dollars. Everyone agrees that you get a much better understanding of a built asset, e.g. a building, if you immerse yourself in VR to study it, in comparison with just looking at a 2D drawing. But what does the workflow look like with VR, and when do you get the most benefit out of it? In order to find out, we invited Aleksander Langmyhr from the Norwegian VR start-up Dimension 10 and self declared BIMfluencer Fredrik Holm from Asplan Viak, one of the major Norwegian engineering advisor and planning companies.
We are looking into circular economy, sustainability and the ways in which that will change the construction industry in the time ahead. Our guests all are key players in the construction industry’s transition to circular economy. Cathrine Barth, co-founder and strategist for Circular Norway, Frank Jaegtnes, CEO of Elektroforeningen (EFO), the association for electrical installation companies, and Anstein Skinnarland, Managing Director of buildingSMART Norway. The construction industry is infamously known as the 40% industry, accounting for 40 percent of all CO2 emissions, as well as producing the biggest amount of waste of any sector in the world. So the need for a change is huge: We need to change how we value building materials, how we catalogue what we have, how we use the data of what is in our buildings, that we reuse or recycle instead of throwing away when constructing our cities.
