    Our goal was to plant the first three acres of what will eventually be a ten-acre Garry Oak nature preserve just outside Tacoma, Washington. We were there with our friends and partners at Forterra, an organization dedicated to protecting and conserving land. --------------------------- In honor of Garryana 3|1 being named American Single Malt Whiskey of the Year we pulled this episode from the archives. Our time caring for this property with Forterra is now entering its third year and the excitement from our first visit hasn't diminished a bit. We hope you enjoy.

    Garry oak is a species of white oak native to the Pacific Northwest with a natural habitat ranging primarily from southern British Columbia, down through Western Washington and in to the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Westland has been working with Garry Oak for some time now and still there is always more to learn. This episode looks back at some of our initial explorations with ReWine Barrels in Salem, OR.
