Coach Lala hangs out with world-famous track and field coach Tony Holler of Plainfield North High School in the Chicago, Illinois, area. Coach Holler and his "Feed the Cats" business have completely changed the way athletes prepare all across the world. He has also helped to start Track Football Consortium, a conference that brings together football, track, and strength coaches from every end of the country to share ideas about sports performance. Coach Lala and Coach Holler talked about too many topics to list which included, of course, "Feed the Cats," reading and writing, possible positive and negative impacts of COVID-19, training football players within the "Feed the Cats" philosophy, and much, much more.
Coach Lala hangs out with Coach David Simoneaux of the Catholic High School Hornets of New Roads, Louisiana. In year 5 at CHSPC, Coach Simoneaux led the Hornets to a 1A State Runner-Up finish and received honors as the 1A Football Coach of the Year in Louisiana. In a little bit longer discussion than normal, the two friends relive stories from their days coaching together, discuss building a small-school program from the ground up, talk about processes for growing individually during these unprecedented times, and much more. Coach Lala hangs out with Keragan McCready, who is the assistant AD, offensive coordinator, and head strength coach at Dutchtown High School, just outside of Baton Rouge, LA. Coach McCready played college ball at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and has experience coaching all over the state of Louisiana since then. The former co-workers begin the conversation by discussing remote learning and teaching strategies during the COVID-19 quarantine. Then, the coaches talk for a long time about strength training, including discussion of Coach McCready's considerations in building the brand new weight room at Dutchtown. Finally, Coach McCready gives a glimpse into some of his offensive philosophy and some of the origins of his dynamic RPO-based scheme.
