Nickie Sanlin is the Director of Volleyball Head Coach for the McKendree University Men's Volleyball Team which she started from scratch in 2014. For ten years she coached both mens and womens volleyball teams at McKendree while also serving as an athletics administrator. This past season McKendree, a Division II school, was the champion of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association with a 13 and 3 record finishing ahead of traditional DI powers Ohio State and Ball State. At just 22 years old, Cecile Reynaud was thrust into being the Head Coach of Florida State University's Women's Volleyball program. As one of the top female coaches, Cecile recognized many women in the sports coaching world weren't being taken as seriously as their male counterparts. So Cecile decided to do something about it. Josh Steinbach has been the head women's volleyball coach at Villanova University for nearly two decades. His 286 career coaching victories with the Wildcats are the most in program history. In 2015, he led the Villanova to its second-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Olivia Babcock is in Brazil and is the youngest player on the senior women's volleyball national team. There are two pro volleyball leagues in the United States and there are rumors of a pro team in Pittsburgh.

Two years ago, we were joined by the woman behind a new volleyball club in Ennis. Anastasia Goriva, a Ukrainian refugee, founded social volleyball club Sunflowers VC, the group which practiced weekly at Coláiste Muire.
