The value of your plan doesn't come from it's accuracy. The value of your plan exists only in it's ability to encourage you to ACT. We learn from doing. Planning can prevent progress.
What if instead of seeing a choice or situation as “hard” you started calling it “helpful’? What if instead of focusing on the difficulty of a choice or situation, you decided to see it as a chance to build confidence or make progress? What if you completely reframed the idea of hard and only referred to difficulties as opportunities to grow?
"Most geniuses – especially those who lead others – prosper not by deconstructing intricate complexities but by exploiting unrecognized simplicities"
"no matter what your ability is, effort is what ignites that ability and turns it into accomplishment"
I have suffered enough. I have created a backlog of excuses, exceptions & justifications that confined me to a life of fear, hiding, depression and negativity. I’ve left that behind. There are no more excuses, exceptions & justifications. I refuse everything that doesn’t actively support my happiest, fullest and most joyful life.
Focus on the magic in your life and you'll immediately find more of it!
You might understand, but you do not know. Knowledge is only a rumor until it lives in your muscle.
There's pleasure of your senses and there's pleasure of your ego. How can you begin to seek out more things that make you feel that pleasure of your ego - proud, confident, joyful, motivated?
When you look at what you don't like about your life, career, finances, relationships, health, physique or anything in between, ask yourself, "Who is forcing you to live this way?"
"Before the truth can set you free you need to recognize the lie that is holding you hostage"
Of course you're overwhelmed. You're focused on way more than you need to be & you're distracting yourself from what you can do today.
Make this positivity pledge to create more happiness & success. Find ways to apply it today with your thoughts & choices.
Are you happy with the way things are? Is comfortable & easy better than happy & amazing? If not: change. Stop focusing on the obstacles and do the work.
How you treat me is your path. How I respond is mine.
You cannot expect to win while you fight harder for the validity of your problems than you do for the validity of your solutions. You must fight harder for your goals & solutions than you do for your problems & obstacles.
The dream isn't enough. It's about the work you put in with your hands & your feet.
In this choice you're making, are you pushing or pacing? With your effort, are you pushing or pacing?
When was the last time an excuse got you what you really want?
Why are you resisting and resenting what is hard when that is the very path to what you want?
If it's all invented, invent a new narrative that serves your goals and use your choices to make it your reality.
Easing off does not make your path easier. You might sell yourself that story, but it doesn't make it true.
A client told me she had made great strides in her happiness. I suggested that she write down, for herself, how she did that. She shared her answers with me & I'm sharing them with you.
"Expecting perfection only leaves you with two options: do everything right on the very first try, or don’t even bother. Which is actually only one option, since 9 times out of 10, human beings don't do things right on the first try." So, what imperfect improvement can you make today?
Do not turn away from the challenges of your present. And don't see them as a burden. They are an opportunity. When you battle with the challenges of your present you win the prizes of your future. (Traveler's Gift)
If you see it as a loss, you'll probably miss the lesson. My greatest mentor is my own mistakes.
Where are you choosing to cling to comfort? Where are you refusing to let go of your comfort zone so you can truly make progress?
Success is actually a short sprint of consistency, powered by discipline, until habit kicks in & takes over.
"Changemaking isn’t about clearly outlining the rational benefit of your point of view. Changemaking happens when people fall in love with a different version of the future." ~ Seth Godin
When we struggle to reach our goals, it's often because we're choosing a perspective that suggests that making progress towards the goal requires carrying a burden.
If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't right. Fortunately, we always have the power to choose our way out of those feelings and towards something different.
Where have you allowed allowed waiting to become a habit?
More often than not, we make choices based on what we want most in a moment. As we consider our options, we’re evaluating what is right in front of us and how we're feeling in that moment. There is a way to improve choices, reduce frustration & increase consistency.
Strive to be "an athlete in the greatest of all contests - the struggle to not be overwhelmed by anything that happens" ~ Marcus Aurelius
Continuous improvement always trumps delayed perfection.
The impossible is usually just the untried. What would happen if you brought a new, unwavering consistency to your goals?
Discipline doesn't mean you don't get what you want when you want it. I means you've chosen something you want even more.
We are creatures of urgency. If we want something, we have to react or decide now. If we feel something, we have to speak or act right away. The discipline of patience reminds us that sometimes the best choice is no choice at all.
Is this the right thing to quit? Is this the right time to quit? Is this the right reason to quit?
When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt. Stop letting your insecurities make decisions for you. Each time you do, you fuel that insecurity and limit your own freedom & happiness.
Nothing beats a failure like a try. You don't have to quit, you just want to. Whatever your favorite piece of advice is, what are you DOING with it, and with what consistency?
We are usually distracted. While we work on one thing, we're thinking about other things & other situations, at the expense of efficiency & quality. AMRAP mentality can be a powerful way to feel less overwhelmed & more productive.
No matter what happened last, I keep coming back. No matter what, I keep coming back.
Success depends, to a large degree, on how well you communicate with yourself and with others. Results & achievement will benefit from honest, effective & constant communication. Excuses & procrastination often stem from dishonest or incomplete communication with yourself. You might not think you are lying to yourself, but often times, you are. At best, you’re not telling the whole truth and you’re accepting a story that isn’t the real truth.
The missing link is consistency. Stop talking yourself out of what you can do now on the grounds of what you can't do yet.
