The Birth of Deft - Hybrid Data Center Services

datacenterHawk

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 29, 2021 28:32

Adapting to the rapidly shifting data center services market by taking a hybrid approach that straddles the line between being a service provider and being a consultancy. What Are the Data Center Trends That Deft Sees for 2021? Deft serves a lot of different kinds of customer needs: Hybrid Cloud services, colocation, management of both on and off premises networking assets, and third-party service integration. Kubernetes and other container-based Cloud servers are some of the hottest products for a lot of their clients. Auditing and consulting services are also quite popular. Public Cloud has become an important cost saving component in quite a few client networks. AWS and Azure are go-to resources, even for hardcore co-location clients. Almost everyone has a hybrid solution, at the end of the day. Analysis of customer workloads allows Deft to advise clients through their data planning stages. One of the most important questions that they ask is: How are the clients utilizing the technology in their possession, and where do they want to be in the near and the distant future? Deft has found that some clients leap fully into the Cloud before they really look. It is often in a client's best interest to slow down, and not just blindly commit to putting all of their operations in the Cloud. The more time and attention put into a detailed, nuanced plan, the better the functionality and cost savings. Getting better metrics for the use of each business application and examining the potential growth of each app over the next few years, are two of the keys to a successful migration. This form of analysis represents the consultancy side of Deft's business model. They find themselves fighting against initiatives that drive businesses to ‘follow the leader' just because senior leadership read some generalized studies that urged full Cloud conversion. They encourage a more scientific approach to future planning, preventing clients from chasing buzzwords unless the metrics and cost considerations bear out such a dramatic technology shift. Over the last five years, Deft has been able to go to the locations where clients wanted to migrate, following them to several continents throughout the world. Big business partners will often ask for services in the likes of Sydney, Brazil, Tokyo, and Amsterdam. Once data center services are up and running in those new locations for their old clients, Deft will open up the doors to new customers in the region. Typical hybrid data center services that are on offer in these new locations include: Ping/power/pipe, MSP services for AWS, white glove services like disaster recovery, automated backup, managed firewall solutions, security monitoring, connectivity solutions, IP transport and transit, backbone services, and edge network solutions. Each facility is close to a peering point with low latency, which can then be used as a way to scale businesses all over the region. Because Deft is privately held, they can do what is best for their clients and closely follow their needs with bespoke services. Then the most successful of these specialized services can become a more broadly available product, open to all clients. Around 40 percent of Deft's clients have some kind of global footprint, while 60 percent are strictly U.S. based at the moment. However, a high percentage of those U.S. companies are multihomed throughout the nation. Points of presence throughout the continental United States allow Deft to offer low latency edge networking solutions, comprehensive data backup plans, and communications solutions that can virtually shrink the distance between satellite offices.

From a small town in Iowa to a dominant force in the performance coaching industry, Jordan travels the country speaking and coaching executives at Fortune 500 companies, professional athletes, and salespeople. If you haven't listened to last Monday's episode, go back and listen! We discuss being an intentional leader in all aspects and facets of our lives.    [01:02 - 07:54] What Are the First Steps You Recommend To Start Taking Action? The first step in personal development is self-awareness We always have something to learn  Ask for feedback Building a culture around you that gives honest, helpful, and timely feedback  Specific questions lead to specific feedback  Ask for help  Don't make the mistake of graduating from asking for help  An opportunity can be one ask away  If you don't ask, the answer is automatically ‘No.'  Are you showing up available for feedback and receiving help?  Remember the best feedback isn't about who we are, it's about what we do The most necessary feedback we need to hear is usually the feedback we want to disagree with or push back on  [07:55 - 14:41] Embracing Discomfort  Where you grow the most is where you struggle the most How to challenge people that persistently avoid what they need to deal with  Love and accountability has to go together  Know them very well before instructing  Prioritize one's future over their feelings How to give constructive criticism  Affirm them that you believe in them  Call out what needs to be called out  Because of their value and potential, you want to work on X, Y, and Z with them  [14:41 - 0000] Being Others-Focused  Be careful about leading with intention and language that is self-focused  When we start saying things like. “Respect my time, I'll respect yours, let's make minutes count.” That becomes about us Making one's development about them [14:41 - 17:43] Closing Segment  Connect with Jordan (links below)  Final words Key Quote/s:  “All personal development begins with self-awareness. Self-awareness is a matter of continuous improvement. - Jordan Montgomery  “I want to build a culture around me of honest, helpful, and timely feedback. And so I'm going to ask my stakeholders, the people that love, trust, and care about me, what could I do better? What are my blind spots? What am I missing?” - Jordan Montgomery “The best feedback isn't about who we are, it's about what we do.” - Jordan Montgomery Connect with Jordan  Visit his website http://www.montgomerycompanies.com (www.montgomerycompanies.com)  Follow him on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter @jordanmmontgomery  Did you love the value that we are putting...

Welcome back to the Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast, for Brain Fact Friday and episode #139 on “The Fascinating Discoveries that Link Math, Literacy and the Brain Together.” If you are listening on iTunes, click here to see the images in the show notes. I'm Andrea Samadi, author and educator from Toronto, Canada, now living in the United States, and like many of our listeners, have been fascinated with learning and understanding the science behind high performance strategies in our schools, sports, and modern workplaces of the future. If you have been listening to our podcast, you will know that we've uncovered that if we want to improve our social and emotional skills, and experience success in our work and personal lives, it all begins with an understanding of our brain. Our goal with this podcast is to bring the most current neuroscience research to you and make it applicable in your life whether you are a teacher in the classroom, a parent homeschooling, or using these ideas to improve productivity and results in your workplace. The idea is that these strategies will give you a new angle and provide you with a new way of looking at learning, results and productivity, with the brain in mind. As I am researching and uncovering new ideas, I'm also implementing them myself, and making connections to past speakers, so that we can all benefit from the research that is emerging in this new field of educational neuroscience.   I want to thank the listeners who have sent me messages through social media[i] about how you are using these ideas in your schools, community and personal lives. It does help to know that these episodes are useful, and how you are using this information, and that it's not just me who finds the intricacies of the brain and learning to be fascinating.  Thanks so much for the messages. Back to this week's Brain Fact Friday. DID YOU KNOW: There is a test called the finger gnosis test[ii] (a child holds their fingers under the table and has to tell you which fingers you touch) and “this test is a strong predictor of future mathematical ability” (Dr. Ansari taught us this in our last episode) and that “finger movement and counting are closely associated with the brain?” (David Sousa). David A Sousa in his book How the Brain Learns Mathematics found “that the region of the brain that controls finger movement is the same region associated with counting” [iii] and he thought it was interesting that finger movement and counting are closely associated in the brain.  I asked Dr. Ansari what he thought about this, and he agreed there might be something to what David Sousa is thinking. This might explain why Dyslexia (a learning disorder that involves a difficulty with reading) and Dyscalculia (a math learning disability where children struggle with number sense) are so closely related. Dr. Ansari mentioned that 50% of children who struggle with math, also struggle with reading. The two go hand in hand. We did cover the societal significance of our children or students learning to read proficiently by 3rd grade with last week's Brain Fact Friday, episode #137[iv] where we examined the math learning disability dyscalculia, that's closely related to dyslexia, but here's a quick reminder of the importance of knowing why literacy is so important, especially understanding the implications of NOT staying on top of our children/students who might be struggling with the foundations of reading, or mathematics, at an early age. When we look at the statistics, the importance of developing the foundational skills of literacy is clear. Just a reminder: 2/3 of students who cannot read proficiently by the end of 4th grade will end up in jail or on welfare. Over 70% of America's inmates cannot read above a 4th grade level. 1 in 4 children in America grow up without learning how to read at all. Students who don't read proficiently by the 3rd grade are 4 times likelier to drop out of school. Nearly 85% of the juveniles who face trial in the juvenile court system are functionally illiterate, proving that there is a close relationship between illiteracy and crime.   When researching Dr. Ansari, I came across similar statistics for students who did not have the foundational skills in mathematics. Did you know that: “Low numeracy skills are associated with physical illness, depression and incarceration?” (Bynner and Parsons 2005)[v] Students with poor numerical and mathematical skills are more likely to default on their mortgage payments than those with strong mathematical skills “(Gerardi, Goetta and Meier 2013).[vi] Dr. Daniel Ansari's interview #138[vii] provided many insights of the importance of understanding how the brain learns, but one of the most profound analogies he gave was about the importance of looking at the foundational competencies in mathematics to help students “build a solid foundation to their learning”[viii] so they build a strong foundation that is not at risk of collapsing.   The Foundational Skills of Reading and Mathematics There is a clear case for ensuring our students are proficient readers by 3rd grade, and we have just started to dive deep into strategies for struggling readers with episode #136 with the case study of Lois Letchford[ix] and how she helped her son to overcome dyslexia and graduate with his Ph.D. from Oxford University. Since this episode was released, I have had many emails with stories and case studies to support innovation in this field. Like Dr. Burton Clark[x], who sent me his story about beating the odds and overcoming dyslexia in the field of firefighting. We also can see the importance of developing the foundational skills in mathematics. The core of reading, Dr. Ansari explains is “connecting sounds to letters” or phonemic awareness that David Sousa explains in depth in his “How the Brain Learns to Read” series and on episode #78[xi] but the core of math, Dr. Ansari reminds us is “connecting quantity to symbols” (or knowing that 3 apples is also three apples). What Are the Foundational Reading Skills That Should Be in Place By 3rd Grade?  David Sousa's How the Brain Learns to Read[xii] has a clear list on page 208, reminding us that “Teachers make a difference. Students of experienced teachers with knowledge of scientifically-based methods had higher reading achievement scores than students of inexperienced teachers.” (David A Sousa) Most researchers agree that these skills must be in place by 3rd grade to ensure students will be able to cope with the increased difficulty in future grades. They must: Master the alphabet Read fluently Understand what students are reading Have strategies to sound out unfamiliar words Be confident in spelling Read almost any book in the elementary school library Write almost anything that falls within a child's knowledge and experience Have an appetite for reading and writing Now we learned from our interview #136 with Lois Letchford that learning to read doesn't come naturally for some children. It's a serious struggle. But her episode focused on some strategies to help the students who do struggle with reading, and our next interview coming in the third week of June that will feature Michal Ricca[xiii], the Founder of the Now I Can Read Program, from Williston, VT (USA) who has in the past 2 decades, taught over 1,000 students how to read. She will share why she saw the need to create an online reading program for students that has greatly expanded her reach beyond what she was able to do working with students one on one.  Her program helps students with more than reading, but also with the social and emotional aspect that comes along with a student who is struggling, and who just wants to fit in with the other children in their class. Instructional Strategies to Help Improve Reading Comprehension from David Sousa's How the Brain Learns to Read (Page 99-101). Using graphic organizers Asking questions Summarizing Mental imagery Paraphrasing What Are the Foundational Mathematical Skills That Should Be in Place By 3rd Grade?  When looking at the foundations to math that Dr. Ansari thinks are important to be in place by 3rd grade, he reminded me that math is much more complicated than reading, and that many skills need to be in place, but he did think that number sense is very important. Students should understand: Quantities Concepts like more or less Larger and smaller Understanding the order in a line (1st, 2nd, 3rd) Understand that symbols like 7 represent quantities and mean the same thing as seven. Making number comparisons (like 12 is greater than 10) Recognizing relationships between single items and groups of items (seven means one group of seven items) Understand fractions, proportions, multiplying and dividing Also the gradual progress of finger counting to the mental process of adding/subtraction numbers Instructional Strategies Dr. Ansari mentioned the 6 evidence-based strategies from the most recent report Assisting Struggling Students with Mathematics.[xiv] I will put the image of the 6 strategies in the show notes, but thought it was important to mention the importance of using number lines, since any time an abstract concept can be visualized, it makes it easier for the student to understand. Lois Letchford mentioned this with her work with her son, and that using a number line with the dates brought the maps they were studying to life. REVIEW and CONCLUSION with This WEEK'S BRAIN FACT FRIDAY David Souza uncovered finger movement and counting to be closely associated in the brain and Dr. Ansari spoke about finger gnosis and mathematical ability[xv] and that it is widely known finger gnosis (a child holds their hand under a table and someone touches their fingers, then asks, “which finger did I touch?” The ability to perform this test well is a strong predictor of future mathematical ability. He also mentioned that even before brain scans, they knew from patients who had damage to the left hemisphere of the brain, the left angular gyrus, they became terrible at finger gnosis and terrible at math. If you look at the diagram of the brain in the show notes, you will see how close the angular gyrus is to the Wernicke's area (the part of the brain that controls speech) and the Broca's area (also linked to speech production). This is where Dr. Ansari says “we know that there's a connection here, but we just don't know the mechanism” which to me is the fascinating part of this work. Maybe next year, or maybe in 3 years' time, neuroscience advancements will be made to show exactly what is happening in the brain when we are counting and using our fingers, but for now, we just know there is a connection, but what it is, remains to be discovered. I hope today's Brain Fact Friday has made you think, like it has opened up my mind, to all the possibilities that exist when we begin to study and learn this powerful topic of the human brain. The next time you use your fingers to count something, or you watch someone else doing this, remember that what you are saying and counting with your fingers are firing off pathways in your brain that are very closely connected. I know we can't see this happening, but we can get a clear image of this happening, and with time, we will learn even more about our brain, learning and ways we can use this information to improve our productive and results. See you next week. Scripture For Today: Psalm 80:4 “How long, Lord God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people?” What Are the Greater Works? pt 4We have been discussing about “What Are the Greater Works” than Jesus did. Yesterday, we left off with the explanation that the only body of Christ in the earth during Jesus ministry was Jesus Himself, until the point in time in John 20:22 where He breathed on the disciples and said “Receive the Holy Ghost.”  At that moment, the Body of Christ became the Church and was capable of going “into all the earth, preaching the Gospel.”  The “Body of Christ” was no longer in one place at one time. The “Body of Christ” could grow, physically and Spiritually. The “Body of Christ” could speak different languages. The “Body of Christ” could traverse the globe and spread the Gospel from one of this earth to the other and all the way around! Praise God!  Today, WE are the spiritual Body of Christ. The only Body of Christ which is in the world today IS the Church. The Church is made up of CHRISTIANS. Not Buddhists. Not Muslims. Not Mormons. Not Jehovah Witnesses. CHRISTIANS.  If that offends you – GOOD! I'm preaching the right thing if you are part of any of these other false religions or cults. That was my intent. To offend you to the point where you will research this out yourself.  Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. Jesus is the ONLY Savior. JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE and there is NO OTHER WAY BUT HIM. Amen.  In Acts 2:47, we read, “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” We are talking about the greatest works that Jesus spoke about, which is the Body of Christ and what we are to be doing in His Name.  Remember our base scripture in John 14:12-14?  "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." Besides the new birth, another GREATER WORK is getting people filled with the Holy Spirit. Just as nobody was born under the ministry of Jesus, neither was anyone baptized or filled with the Holy Spirit under the ministry of Jesus while He was on this earth. That is why, what we are called to do today, is a GREATER WORK than what Jesus did. We are going to do these greater works of getting people born again and filled with the Holy Spirit because Jesus went to the Father. This was something HE could not do while He was on this earth! Isn't this amazing? I know some of you right now are just beginning to see and understand what I'm talking about. Praise God! We are doing things that Jesus could not do. That just astounded me when I finally understood this. He could do this ONE PERSON AT A TIME. Where ever Jesus was, that is where His ministry was. Now, where ever WE ARE – His ministry is there. All around the earth and yes, even on the Internet. Praise God! We are definitely living in the times prophesied of old. Amen! I want to pray with you right now that your spiritual eyes have been opened to the Truth that you have been reading, perhaps for years, in John 14:12-14. I want to pray that you understand your role in DOING GREATER WORKS for Jesus. Amen! Let's Pray! Scripture For Today: 2 Samuel 7:27 “The other events of Manasseh's reign, including his prayer to his God and the words the seers spoke to him in the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, are written in the annals of the kings of Israel.” What Are the Greater Works? pt 3We have been discussing about “What Are the Greater Works” than Jesus did. Yesterday, we left off with the explanation that nobody was born again until after Jesus accomplished His sacrifice on the Cross, was raised from the dead, ascended to Heaven and then sent the Holy Spirit to the earth. We established the fact that people under the Old Covenant could have the FORGIVENESS of sins, but not the REMISSION of sins. That can only happen under the NEW COVENANT and only because of the redemptive work of Jesus at the Cross. That is what we have access to today. Our sins can be remitted and wiped out through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Amen! It is as if our sins never even happened or existed. Praise God!  Certainly, if you are born again, if you sin, your sins can be forgiven, but that does NOT mean you are NOT born again. If that were the case, you could have been born again and again and again many times over. Which also means you could be born again one minute and guaranteed to go to Heaven, eat an extra cookie from the cookie jar and die tripping down the stairs 5 minutes later and go straight to hell. It does not work that way. We know the new birth is one of the greater works Jesus was talking about in John 14:12. People were not born again under the ministry of Jesus while He was on this earth. They were still operating and living under the Old Covenant until Jesus purchased our redemption at the Cross. For instance, you have never read – anywhere – in the Old Testament or the Four Gospels, that Jesus “added to the church daily such as should be saved.”  But you DO read that statement about the Apostles in Acts 2:47! Amen! The Book of Acts was recorded AFTER the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.  You see, there was not any Church of the Lord in Jesus earthly ministry. Not until Jesus breathed on His disciples and said, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost” in John 20:22. This is when the disciples were born again. Praise God!  This was the establishment of the Church that began operating in the earth. Amen! This was the actual beginning of the Church – a body of believers – that now had the ability to operate in the earth with the same Spiritual authority that Jesus had while He was in the earth. This is when the Church became the BODY OF CHRIST in this earth. Up until that moment, the Body of Christ operating in this earth was only the BODY OF CHRIST. Amen! Let's Pray! Scripture For Today: 2 Samuel 7:27“Lord Almighty, God of Israel, you have revealed this to your servant, saying, ‘I will build a house for you.' So your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you.”What Are the Greater Works ? pt 2Yesterday, we started to discuss what, exactly, are the “Greater Works” that Jesus told His disciples (and us) that we should be doing. Let's look at our base scripture again from John 14:12-14 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” Yesterday, I shared the reason we are able to do these greater works is because Jesus has now gone to the Father in Heaven. He is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. Amen! In John 16:7-11, we see Jesus says, 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me;10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.” The greater works that we are supposed to be doing is getting more and more people into the Kingdom of Heaven by helping them to become BORN AGAIN! Amen! Jesus did not get anyone born again during His earthly ministry up until just a few days following His resurrection and before He ascended back to Heaven. It is a mistaken belief that He “saved” people, including His disciples, while He was on the earth, living in a physical body. As I said before, the disciples had a kind of “promissory note” that their salvation would be completed in that day that Jesus redeemed mankind by His sacrifice and then resurrection. But they were NOT “born again” until after that happened. They couldn't be because there had to be a sacrifice that God would honor to whipe away their sins. And that did not happen until Jesus actually died and was buried. Amen! “But, brother Bob, didn't Jesus forgive people's sins in His earthly ministry?” Yes, He did. But there is a difference between forgiveness and being born again. Under the Old Covenant, the people could receive forgiveness of their sins by keeping the ritual sacrifices prescribed by Moses. But they could not be born again with a rejuvenated spirit created in the image of Christ. Their sins were only covered by the blood of bulls and goats. That was enough for them to go to the area of “Paradise” while awaiting the fulfillment of the promise of the coming Messiah. That is Jesus. Amen! I'm all out of time for today. We will take it up right here again tomorrow.  Let's Pray! Scripture For Today: Deuteronomy 9:26“I prayed to the Lord and said, “Sovereign Lord, do not destroy your people, your own inheritance that you redeemed by your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.”What Are the Greater Works ? pt 1We have been studying these last few days from John 14:12-14. We are now focusing on something Jesus told His disciples (and therefore, told us) to do in verse 12. Let's read these verses again. John 14:12-14 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” Someone once said, “If we just do what Jesus did first, then we will be able to do the greater works.” But that is not what Jesus was trying to teach us. Notice WHY Jesus said we would be able to do “greater works than these.” He said, “…because I am going to my Father…”  That means the church today, which is what? THE BODY OF CHRIST… the church today should be – and if you truly wanted to compare the works of Christian in Biblical times and the outreaches today – we ARE doing greater things. I mean, we have satellite technology, the Internet (thank you Al Gore) and all of these things that help us to get the word out into all the earth at one time! The disciples had nothing like this.  For someone to share the Gospel in Rome or India, they would have to physically travel there. Then, there were not large convention halls and they could not run weeks of television and radio advertising that they would be in town for this large revival. “Coming in September, 7 days with two of the Apostles who walked with Jesus! Get your tickets now before they are all sold out!” There was nothing like that. So for them – we are living in a blessed time! Amen! It may not seem so for us – but, like the Bible said, “The prophets of old desired to see the things you see but could not.” (Luke 10:24). But here, Jesus is telling the disciples that it is BECAUSE He is going to the Father, that this would enable THEM to do even greater works that He could on the earth. Why? Because once Jesus ascended to Heaven, He could send the Holy Spirit into the earth.  Let's look at John 16:7-11 and see what Jesus said about this: 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me;10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.” What are the greater works? Getting people born again!  Jesus could  not get people born again when He was on this earth. He was there to fulfill scripture so they could get born again. But that would come AFTER His death, burial, resurrection and ascension and after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Amen! We will leave it right there for today. Scripture For Today: Mark 9:29“He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.” Doing the Works of  Jesus pt 3We have been studying these last few days from John 14:12-14. Yesterday looked at some scriptures that explained WHY Jesus never had to pray for the sick. He was walking in accordance with the promises of the Abrahamic Covenant. Everywhere He went, He knew He had authority and He walked according to that purpose. Then, as we closed yesterday, we seen several verses where “All power and authority in Heaven and earth” was given to Jesus. And how He then turned around and gave us the ability to walk in that same power and authority in order to fulfill the Great Commission. We've seen that He reminded us not to rejoice that demons are subject to our commands in His Name, but to rejoice – and that means to understand – our names have been written down in Heaven. In other words, rejoice that we are born again children of the Most High God. Amen! And then to understand, according to John 14:12-14, that we are now supposed to be doing even GREATER works than those Jesus did on this earth. I want to look again, it is important for you to know this, that Jesus NEVER prayed for anyone's healing. It is not recorded anywhere in the Bible that Jesus had to PRAY for someone to receive their healing. He would COMMAND the demon behind the sickness depart – and it had to obey. In some instances, He would ask the person, “Do you believe I can do this?” Notice, He did not say, “Do you believe God can do this?” He did not say, “Do you believe I can pray for you and you will be healed.”  No. He said, “Do you believe I can – what? – DO THIS?” Praise God.  In those situations, the person would say “Yes” and then Jesus would reply, “OK, be it done unto you as you have believed.” If the person lied and did not really believe, they would leave with nothing. We do not see any instances of that happening. But when they believed, they would be healed! Praise God. Now, as we close today, I want to bring us back to John 14:!2 – the entire purpose of this teaching is to show you that we are supposed to be doing GREATER WORKS THAN THESE. Praise God! Don't shout me down when I'm preaching good! That does not limit us to use His Name just for healing sick folks. This applies to our own family. Our own finances and, of course, out own health as well. Tomorrow, I will go into “What Are the Greater Works Than Jesus?” Don't fall for the trap of some denominations who say this type of authority was only for Jesus. Or that it was only for the Apostles. It is for US. For YOU! Praise God! Let's Pray! Out of this story of Jonah's failure (and obedience), we see God's grace extended not only to the people who are wicked, but also to the person who is considered righteous. God extends his grace in both directions because God isn't just looking at actions, he looks at our heart. What Are the Principles in Jonah? 1. God loves the people you think are against you. Think of the people or place you least enjoy. God's grace extends to even to them. What Does the Book of Jonah Mean for Me Today? 1. Who is my Nineveh? Where is my Nineveh? Who are the people, person, or group that God might be asking you, “Do you know my grace extends to them as well as you?” 2. Are you willing to give love as your first response to those people you feel are against you? Do you want their repentance and for them to receive grace? 3. “Those who cling to worthless idols will forfeit the grace that is theirs" - Jonah 2:8. Dwell on the word “forfeit.” Am I showing up for grace? Or am I clinging so tightly to something important to me, that I am not showing up for the grace given to me? 4. Worship! Dwell on the gift of God's grace in your life today! *** Next week, we start a brand-new series on my new book, The Miracle Moment. Here’s another way that will be happening in the near future – Driver Monitoring Systems. A proposed bill in Congress would make such systems mandatory on all cars made in the US from 2027 on. All right, guys, I will see you on the inside of the episode. Let's go, How are you today? Listen, I've got a quick bonus session because I wanted to share something that I was talking to with one of my clients about their action goals in my IIDEAA framework that I use with coaching. Let me remind you what the idea is. It is identity, identify, define, embrace, activate, and assess. But we were talking about her goals for her physical health and coming up with those small action steps. She was stuck because she felt like her goal was way too big and she was having trouble coming up with the daily action steps. So I gave her a quick example of what her physical action items could be for a daily basis that as she took these small actions, it could lead to big results. So number one, every single day, she could have a green smoothie. And actually I will post a recipe in the show notes so that you can grab that that's something that you can do that gives you a full serving of your vegetables. And there are so many health benefits to having a green smoothie. And so I will put a good recipe below because they're not as bad as some people think, okay, but you can have a green smoothie every day. You started off your day with a green smoothie and it will get your metabolism going and you will fill your body up with all of these healthy things. Okay. Number two, I always take two detox supplements and they are, it's a supplement that is natural. It's a daily maintenance supplement. It comes all the ingredients come straight from the earth and it attaches to water and fat soluble toxins. And some people think about toxins in the way that you are maybe eating bad stuff for your body. But this daily maintenance supplement that I use actually grabs toxins that you might not even realize that you're being exposed to number one, like chemicals that are in the stuff you're putting on your skin. Your skin is your largest organ on your body and it absorbs everything. So everything that touches your skin absorbs it pretty much right into your bloodstream. And so there are a lot of toxins that we're exposed to in our bodies that we don't even realize. Another toxin is the air that we breathe. We are breathing in whatever's in our air. And so there are toxins sometimes that we're breathing in. Okay. And then of course, other types of toxins, it could be cleansers. It could be you know, sprays. It could be your deodorant or anything like that, that, that gets absorbed through your skin somehow or through your breath because you breathe in and then it gets into your bloodstream and your lungs and your tissues and all that kind of stuff. So there are water soluble toxins that a lot of detox supplements focus on, and then there are fat soluble. The difference with this one that I use at least is number one. I know that it's natural. It's not manufactured. It is from the earth. So it's, you know, how God puts stuff on earth. And then it is put into a capsule that you can take and it absorbs right into your bloodstream. But the other great thing about it is that it grabs up the fat soluble toxins, which most detox supplements, like I said, focus on water. This one does water and fat soluble toxins that you could have in your body. So that's number two. So a green smoothie, detox. And then the last one is body movement, some kind of body movement. Now I L will be the first to confess that exercise in a gym is just not my thing, weightlifting running. I mean, I have broken my ankle like six times. I just have always had weak ankles. I roll my ankles all the time. So I just don't run. I've also always been heavy chested. And so it's just uncomfortable for me. I don't know if any women out there can relate, but running is just never been my thing. So, but body movement is so important. I remember my granny who has passed now, but she used to get up every morning. And then every night before she went to bed, she would move her body. She would walk through her apartment briskly. She would maybe hold a can of soup. As she's walking, she would do stretching and movement to keep her joints loose and moving. And she was mobile and doing all the things in her nineties. So it definitely just goes to show you that it doesn't have to be this major bodybuilding weightlifting, running marathons, just move your body. One thing that I actually like to do, it's called rebounding. And it is a mini trampoline for lack of a better, I don't know what else it's called, but I call it a mini trampoline where you just, you know, stand on it and you can rebound, which means your feet really don't leave the trampoline, but it keeps all the muscles and joints and everything moving as you are rebounding on a trampoline. So those are examples of the three action steps that you can take. So you can imagine if you do this every single day the other big thing I do for my body, and I didn't add this when I was talking with her was if, for an example, but I use waterless lotion so that it, the lotion is pulled in by the water inside my body. That's kind of a topic for another discussion, but I do that because I understand that, you know, what I put on my skin is absorbed directly into my body. And so I try to use products on my skin. It's like, I also use natural deodorant. So I try to eliminate some of the bad stuff that might get into my body by using products that are natural and pure and that kind of thing. I'm not the most green person in the world, but certainly with my skincare. And I try to use like natural shampoos and I definitely use waterless and natural soaps, things like that. So, and then a natural. So okay. So it's just not, that's hard, but you can see how drinking a green smoothie every day detoxing your body, keeping your body detox on a maintenance basis and then moving your body every day. How those things, those little small things can add up to big results if you do those small things every day over time. So this is not something that has to be earth shattering and big. Your action steps can look like something small. Okay.   So I'll give one other example in the finances, for example, you might say that every single month you're going to put $20 into an IRA or an educational fund for your child that may not seem like something big, but over time, things can start to compound. And the biggest thing is that you will be further along in a year or two years, 20, 30 years from now, if you do that every single month, then you are today. If you don't do that. Okay. So it's those kinds of things coming up with small little action steps that you can take and make a difference, make a big difference over time. Okay. All right. So I just wanted to hop on here and give you guys an example of what I helped a girl that I was talking with the other day with getting kind of unstuck with her. She was just having trouble coming up with stuff for her activate part of the IIDEAA framework. So, and ladies, if you get stuck, then you need to and you need to just get some of that advice. Then just hop over to Angietoninirogers@gmail.com and grab a coaching session. I'm actually doing an hour long session right now, instead of 30 minutes, I am doing for the price of a 30 minute session. I'm giving you an hour so that we can actually work through the entire IIDEA framework together so that we can start to work on balancing out all those parts of your life that you feel like need a little bit of a change or need some action items in there. Okay. So make sure you hop over to my email at angietoninirogers@gmail.com.
