I have a coaching session for you this week, and in these sessions, I aim to pick topics that are universal. Maggie is brave today and coming on the show with a topic many of us struggle with, resentment, self-abandonment, and the rocky road to self-compassion. I wanted to give this topic a voice because it's incredibly common. To normalize what it looks like when women find themselves stuck in cycles of indecisiveness, resentment, guilt, and burnout. Maggie's story is specific, but the themes? They're everywhere. In this session, we unpack what's getting in the way for Maggie and work together to create small, actionable steps that bring her closer to showing up for herself in meaningful ways. Her willingness to do the work on herself offers something for all of us - especially if you've been taught to prioritize everyone but yourself. You'll hear us talk about: What it really looks like to explore resentments and why it matters (10:53) How self-abandonment sneaks into everything from parenting to partnership (26:19) Why you don't have to forgive someone in order to heal (28:07) How indecisiveness connects to fear, self-trust, and early family dynamics (28:39) What self-compassion can look like in real time (especially when it's new) (36:41) Resources: Coaching Single Sessions with Andrea No Bad Parts: Healing Trauma and Restoring Wholeness with the Internal Family Systems Model, Richard Schwartz Book recommendations: I love a good personal development book, and you do too, right? Starting a new career can be a challenge. In many instances, we have the opportunity to learn from a mentor or manager who can guide us in the right direction. And while I serve as a mentor for financial coaches, few have actually experienced or witnessed a financial coaching session. So I was thrilled when a member of our online community agreed to allow me to record a coaching session as I coached her around a financial decision she was trying to make. See, she had asked for input from our online community but received so many different responses she was actually further from a decision than before.I hope you'll tune in to this bonus episode and hear how we walk through Lydia's decision. I share a bit of what pre-work I did before the session and why I approached the session like I did. Please pardon the audio quality; this is the first of what I hope to be a number of examples of what a coaching session looks like in real time.Links & Resources:Ultimate Growth GuideJoin the Facebook groupKey Takeaways:The clarity required to make a confident financial decision comes not from avoiding the worst-case scenario, but from being fully prepared for it.When facing a major financial choice, ask yourself: Am I making this decision from a place of fear or from a place of purpose-driven growth?True financial courage isn't eliminating all risk—it's understanding exactly what you're risking and deciding it's worth the potential gain.Your relationship with money reveals itself most clearly when you articulate what you believe you'll gain from spending it.Indecision is exhausting; a clear “no” is often more empowering than a perpetual “maybe.”Financial coaching isn't about telling someone what's mathematically optimal; it's about guiding them to clarity through their own values and circumstances. The next time you're stuck in financial uncertainty, remember: The decision isn't the point. The process is the point.

Ever found yourself caught in the quicksand of a major decision, where the more you think about it, the deeper you sink? That paralysis isn't what you think it is. Contrary to popular belief, indecision rarely stems from not knowing what you want. The surprising truth is that indecision happens when you actually DO know what your heart desires, but you've been conditioned not to trust that knowing. Through years of education, family influence, and societal pressure, we've all absorbed the message that there are "right" and "wrong" choices – and that the wrong ones lead to failure, rejection, and disappointment. Your decision-making lens was shaped long before you faced today's choices. If your parents struggled financially, you likely absorbed different beliefs about "safe" career paths than someone raised by entrepreneurs. These tribal influences run deep, creating an unconscious filter that overrides your intuition when it points toward something that contradicts your programming. Your brain's protective mechanisms are essentially pulling the emergency brake to keep you from potential harm or rejection from your "tribe."In this illuminating episode, Dr. Reana shares a powerful two-step exercise that cuts through the noise in just five minutes. First, identify what choice you'd make if success, acceptance, and resources were guaranteed. Then, get curious about exactly what your brain fears will happen if you follow that path. This simple process reveals the specific conditioning blocking you from trusting yourself and making aligned decisions.Ready to break free from the exhausting cycle of indecision? Pastor Philip De Courcy charts us through the murky waters of indecision by answering the following questions: God has given us the stewardship of making decisions in life, but can you expand on the blessing and challenge this presents? What are common reasons behind indecision? Should someone seek to have "peace" before moving forward with a decision? When is it appropriate to take a step of faith? In this Abounding Love podcast, I discuss "Indecision." Webster's dictionary defines it as: "A wavering between two possible courses of actions." During the day, and at times in our life, we face "two possible courses of action" and which one we choose can have extreme consequences for good or bad. "If only I'd done this" or "If only I'd done that" . . . life is made of decisions. I can testify; what we decide has everything to do with the results in our life. James 1:8 tells us that a double minded person is unstable in all their ways. Since that's true, it stands to reason that a single minded person would be stable in all their ways. The only way to do that is to have the mind of God. Have the Holy Spirit guide you in decisions through the Word of God, which represents the mind of God; the mind of Christ. That is single mindedness. Philippians 2:5 reminds us "to let this mind be in you that is in Christ Jesus." The Holy Spirit and the Word of God changes our way of thinking. It gets rid of our wrong thinking and replaces it with correct thinking. This leads to correct decisions, and it follows, correct results. Do you want results that come from God? Join me in this message to find what God wants for you. Selah! Let me hear from you - Charles https://www.aboundinglove.org/ Subscribe and share with someone you love.
Lyndsay and Shannon discuss the "fire, ready, aim" approach to decision-making in flower farming. They emphasize the importance of taking swift action rather than getting stuck in indecision, which can lead to missed opportunities. Through personal anecdotes, they highlight the value of embracing imperfections, learning from experiences, and maintaining confidence in decision-making. In this episode of The Nancy Levin Show, I'm diving deep into a question that haunts many of us—especially when we're stuck in careers, relationships, or routines that no longer feel aligned: Should I stay, or should I go? But here's the truth: that's not even the real question. There is a deeper invitation waiting for us, that can unlock the answers we need. We explore how indecision can quietly drain your life force, why staying stuck can feel deceptively “safe,” and how even small micro-steps toward clarity can reconnect you to your inner truth and build courage. This episode is for anyone caught in the in-between, yearning for freedom but paralyzed by fear. I'm here to remind you: you don't have to blow up your life to be happy – but you do have to begin by listening to yourself. What we'll explore together: Indecision may feel safe, but it slowly disconnects you from your truth and drains your energy Action (even small steps) brings clarity and peace faster than overthinking ever can Fear of choosing “wrong” keeps us stuck in loops—but that fear is just a sign of growth You don't have to be fearless. You just have to take the next small step. Staying stuck may seem easier, but it risks living a life that's only a fraction of what's possible Clarity doesn't come from thinking—it comes from reconnecting with your desires and needs Ready to go deeper? Do you struggle with making big life decisions? Maybe it's moving overseas, quitting your job or deciding to have a baby. This week, how to ditch analysis paralysis and make a life-changing choice.
Ever found yourself unable to decide what to have for dinner after a long workday? That's decision fatigue—the gradual depletion of your brain's decision-making resources—and it affects professionals at every level, from physicians making life-or-death calls to marketers developing complex strategies. As a brand strategist who thrives on solving creative problems, I never imagined decision fatigue would significantly impact my life. Yet as my career advanced, I found myself increasingly unable to make personal choices. Activities I once enjoyed—shopping, planning vacations, even basic self-care—became overwhelming burdens. My professional decision-making had cannibalized my personal bandwidth, leading to a pattern of avoidance that diminished my overall happiness.Decision fatigue manifests differently for everyone. Some avoid decisions entirely, putting off important life choices. Others make impulsive purchases when tired (explaining those checkout-lane impulse buys). Many make significant decisions hastily rather than thoughtfully considering options. The science remains somewhat contested, but the experience is undeniably real.Fortunately, we can combat decision fatigue with practical strategies. Block your most demanding tasks for early morning when your cognitive resources are freshest. Remove distractions—especially those social media notifications—that force constant mental context-switching. Plan routine decisions like meals and wardrobe in advance. Most importantly, examine your internal narrative: when we constantly tell ourselves tasks are "exhausting," we make them more so.By implementing these approaches and recognizing how decision fatigue affects your daily choices, you can reclaim both mental energy and personal fulfillment. Join me at thepurposefulcareer.com/next-level to explore how applying these concepts can transform your career and life into everything you've dreamed of.Do you have a question you'd like to have addressed on the podcast? “...Confidence is that feeling by which the mind embarks in great and honorable courses with a sure hope and trust in itself...”This week, I'm reflected on the words of Cicero as weaved through several of his works, published between 89 BC and 43 BC. Reflection questions:Is there an area where you are stuck in indecision and procrastination? How can you bring confidence, hope, or trust in a good outcome to that area of indecision?Reflection on quotes:This week, I'm been thinking about the effects of indecision and procrastination. Why does it become so hard to take the first step? To follow though? To pick up the phone? To schedule the meeting? To write the letter? Our indecision and procrastination not only affects us, but it robs donors of the joy of generosity when we delay giving them the opportunity to be involved. Indecision can steal from our nonprofits when we wait too long before asking a donor and they move onto a different cause. When we are stuck in the misery of indecision and memories of past blunders, we must reflect on the great and honorable causes that we serve. And, trust that there is a beautiful space of generosity when we invite donors into that space. These works have entered the public domain. What do you think? To explore fundraising coaching deeper and to schedule an exploratory session, visit ServingNonprofits.com.Music credit: Woeisuhmebop
Sporting Kansas City has now extended their losing streak to 9 straight games in all competitions stretching back to last year as they were unable to find a goal while up a man for over 40 minutes against San Jose in Children's Mercy Park last Saturday night, in front of the first home opener non-sell out in the venue's history. There are a lot of (candidly)reasonable opinions asking for patience with this team due to the circumstances it is in through the 4 games played this year, but given the recent history, it is not surprising to find that most fans have run out of it, hence the empty seats you could too easily see in the stadium Saturday night. Too many familiar themes reared their ugly heads during this match, and it is difficult to look at the performances on the field so far and come to the conclusion that some significant change in fortunes is coming. One of the standout concerns from this game and the others this season has been a prevalence of indecision. This is not a new problem, it has permeated this team for some time now, and it leads to significant errors defensively, and a general feeling of inaction offensively. While you would expect that some of this improves as new players build more time in training together over the coming weeks, it is a familiar refrain that certainly has the members of this podcast questioning if it can be fully remedied with the currently available options on the roster and coaching staff. Finally, the KC Current at long last release their teal kit, The Bartlett Brothers get an opportunity to match up on Saturday, and will Christian Benteke end Robi Voloder's MLS career?

In this episode, Cindy Esliger talks about overthinking, that tendency to analyze and ponder a decision for so long that we become exhausted. Instead of being thorough, we trap ourselves in a cycle of indecision. Spending more time thinking about a decision doesn't necessarily lead to a better outcome and Cindy examines why that is. Why wouldn't extra thought be better? And if it isn't, how do we stop the spinning wheels and endless analysis of overthinking? It's important to note the difference between thinking and overthinking. Thinking is productive. It's deliberate, focused, and rational. Overthinking is repetitive and unproductive. It's often fueled by fear: fear of judgement, failure or not being enough. Cindy highlights five ways to break free from overthinking: 1) Be solution-focused, 2) Organize thoughts, 3) Take a break, 4) Set a time limit, and 5) Accept uncertainty.Breaking the habit of overthinking requires making a decision and taking action before we've locked ourselves in the overthinking cycle. Cindy advises to start small, acting on decisions that aren't that big a deal in the larger picture. Not every choice requires agonizing hours of our limited time and energy resources. Cindy offers insight into shifting our thinking from ‘what if' analysis that focuses on what could go wrong to more productive considerations of what is under our control that will go right. Join her to learn how to start breaking the overthinking cycle.Resources discussed in this episode:Guide to Turning Overthinking Into ActionAstronomic AudioConfidence Collective—Contact Cindy Esliger Career Confidence Coaching: website | instagram | facebook | linkedin | email
My guest today is Christine Armstrong, a keynote speaker, researcher, and author focused on the world of work. Over the past four and a half years, she has produced more than 200 videos in her weekly vlog, addressing major work-related topics such as hybrid working models and the role of AI in productivity. Each Friday morning, over 6,000 viewers from more than 20 countries tune in to gain insights into the future of work. Christine is also the author of The Mother of All Jobs: How to Have Children and a Career and Stay Sane(ish), published in 2018. This book is based on six years of interviews with working parents, employers, leadership experts, and caregivers. We begin our discussion by exploring the recent trend of larger companies implementing Return to Office (RTO) policies and the public's reactions to these changes. Christine references U.S. research indicating that 43% of Americans would prefer to divorce their partner rather than return to the office full-time! She highlights that flexibility is often sacrificed for what she terms “endless contactability,” where employees feel compelled to check emails late into the evening. Unfortunately, many older male leaders, who have benefited from traditional work models, struggle to understand this shift. Christine also cites research by Nick Bloom, which shows that since the pandemic, companies have begun hiring from broader geographical areas, resulting in doubled commute times and making full-time office work less appealing. She predicts that we will see a variety of working arrangements tailored to each company's brand and talent pool. In terms of making the most of time spent in the office, Chistine's advice is to be strategic about using that time: use it to build strong networks, figure out ‘who do I want a relationship with?', ‘how do I build that?' We hear a lot now about the importance of personal branding and I ask Christine for her advice on how to do this when we have been socialised not to brag about our achievements and doing it gives us the ick? First of all, she suggests we initially have to accept and get comfortable with the fact that some people just won't be ‘our people.' Her second piece of advice is to imagine talking about ourselves to our friends - if what we're saying feels uncomfortable it's probably too showy, but if you talk about what you're good at and it's objectively true, then go for it! If you can, use humour, and vulnerability always tends to endear your audience to you. I ask Christine about AI in the workplace and where she sees this having the most impact on the workplace in the next 5 years. Her response was that some jobs will require people who can manage the AI in combination with very strong technical skills (using AI to enhance what they are doing already), many other roles will require strong communication skills, ability to make ethical decisions, and to be able to strategize. I was interested late last year when I saw Christine talking about how she and her husband use an adapted version of the ‘Workshop your life' methodology to plan out their year ahead. As Christine advises, we need to stop seeing work and life as separate and start to view it as one system and think about the whole and how it all fits together. Doing this exercise once a year helps them to tackle tricky issues but not in the heat of the moment and get aligned so that they are not constantly bumping up against negotiating those difficult conversations when flashpoints occur. I've included a few links below in case you feel like giving it a try yourself! We conclude by discussing the current trends Christine and her team are exploring, particularly the rising unpredictability, polarization, and stress levels in today's world. In uncertain times, people tend to adopt black-and-white thinking, become more anxious, and prioritize immediate concerns. Therefore, the role of leaders is crucial; they must provide reassurance, clarity, and effective communication. Today I'm going to talk about indecision candles, how to trade them, how you can use them, how you can take advantage of them, and how they will likely improve your trading performance. Let's get into that a more right now. Hi Traders! This is Andrew Mitchem here at The Forex Trading Coach for a video on podcast number 576. What are Indecision candles and how do you use them? Outside again today, another stunning New Zealand summertime day. I want to talk today about indecision candles. They are candles that open and close at pretty much the same price. There are candles that are small so they can be called or look like a hanging man candle or a pin bar or doji, depending on where they show within the charts. Now, do we trade them just by themselves? Absolutely not. You always need to have some form of confirmation candle after the indecision candle to give you the trade entry. However, they can be what I call an early warning system, and that can be really important to your overall trading success. I'll give you a few examples. Examples of using an Indecision candle. Let's say that you saw a big uptrend, and then the uptrend suddenly stalled and a indecision candle formed. It could be a hanging man pattern let's say. That's giving us the clue after the uptrend. That is some stage during that hanging man. That the sellers were in control and had started to push the market down. Now by the close of the candle the buyers had pushed it back up again. But it tells us that there are sellers out there within the market. And so the beauty of that is it gives you a clue of what could be coming. Now the other important thing is to see that indecision candle bounce at a certain level. It could be a round number. It could be a previous high some form of resistance level to give you a clue that it's actually happening for a reason. We don't still take a trade. We then need to wait for the next candle to form a bearish confirmation candle, and that then gives us the confirmation to go short. So a great way of saying well potentially there's a trade coming here. Now I've seen confirmation. Now I get in the trade as a reversal. Same thing with a continuation trade as well. The other scenario could be that would help you is let's say you were in a trade. Let's say you in that same uptrend and you're not quite at your profit target. And you see an indecision candle. Well that's giving you again the same early warning signal to say potentially our uptrend could be coming to an end. You may not see the reversal signal come next and the trend might continue back up again. Still hasn't got your profit target. Let's say there's another indecision candle that something to tell me that may be this uptrend not going to continue. So that potentially then could be your clue to get out of the trade either completely or partially or maybe move your stop loss, whatever it is that you do as a trade management tool to ensure that when the trade does turn around, let's say, and it starts dropping, that you don't lose out on that trade and your winning trade ends up turning around to, let's say, a complete loss. That's just what you don't want is what you need to do everything to avoid. Your trading edge. And so to me, looking at charts and seeing what actually the mea...
