A book club that covers everything Tolkien, and almost everything else.
On this very special episode we get long time a long time listener to watch a really obscure Chinese film, in Russian. While we watched a fantastic movie called Memories of Murder, everyone should watch that movie. Also My mic is messed up but I've fixed it for next cast. Also we drop some R bombs on this cast. It was not our intent to disparrage the differently abled amongst our listeners, but is simply the way that the movie refers to that character.
This episode is the same forwards as it is backwards, at least if your are inverted.
To set the stage, the fools watched The Good, The Bad, The Weird which is a Korean western that takes place in Manchuria. Dylan, watched Red Sorghum, one of the most foreign movies ever made and wildly confusing, but also takes place in Manchuria. Enjoy listening to Dylan slowly realize he just watched one of the hardest movies out there.
Cooper and Jacob get their hands on Tibs DEXA scans and nutritionist info and say hurtful things. Mad max is talked about for like 3 seconds.
Have you seen what it's like out there, Murray? Do you ever actually leave the studio? Everybody just yells and screams at each other. Nobody's civil anymore. Nobody thinks what it's like to be the other guy. You think men like Thomas Wayne, men at ease, ever think what it's like to be a guy like me? To be anybody but themselves. They don't. They think we'll all good little boys. That we won't werewolf and go wild. Well, this is for all of you out there.
I had to re-upload this to protect top secret information. I replaced all that good content with this here, which includes an in depth discussion of the not hit movie INK.
In this episode the fools discuss fantasy football and Akira, it's an alright episode. Next episode will be on the eternally shitty movie, INK.
A real stinker in the clinker with this one. Jacob forgot we had a cast, Coopers watching football. Honestly, just watch the movie Akira next for next week. I mean I know Cooper and Jacob will probably bail when they realize it's a subtitled anime. But I'll say it right here right now, I will not be gas lighted into thinking Ink is a good movie. Even for the budget, this movie is some poop. Look at Primer if you want a low budget sci-fi mind bend. Not this parkour Labyrinth knock off and I say it here and now, Labyrinth isn't that good. David Bowie and muppets are great but the whole thing is eh. Ink just takes the visuals Terry Gilliam movie, turns them low budget, and adds parkour. The effects are quite possibly the only good thing about Ink. Either way, don't listen to this episode
Sean K, joins fools to further delay the invetiable identity crisis that we are currently in. Cooper said something about switching it to a movie podcast, I don't know I guess that could work. What do you think we should talk about, hit us up @ fyfcast@gmail.com
Tripp joins today's cast and the fools formulate the perfect challenge to find out who is the most superior man.
The fools discuss chapters 7-8 of the Lord of the Rings. But far more importantly, they talk about what truly makes the most superior man.
In this episode the fools discuss chapters 5 and 6 of The Two Towers. The circle back on Cooper's 5 Pillars of Physical health, and long time friend of the show Kasra joins us for the last ten minutes.
Yarr maties. On this weeks episode of the most swashbuckling podcast on the 7 seas, we take a look at chapters 3 and 4 of the two towers. And Cooper and Tibs talk the only thing to talk about, PIRATES!
We go over the first two chapters of the Two Towers by JRR Tolkien. Talk about the effects of sun poisoning. And answer fan mail from our loyal fan George Mcdinkle. What are you going to do, when the Wild Bunch goes crazy, on you?
The boys break down the next few weeks, and try to make their way through a post COVID world. Just kidding we don't talk about anything at all for like an hour. But we do decide to read the first 2 hours of Lincoln in the Bardo. Which is a great book and we will be discussing it next week! So read along loyal listeners.
The Fools have a art contest judged by reddit to see who gets to pick the next book. I won. We are doing the chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the witch, and the Wardrobe. First three chapters by next Sunday yall.
The boys finish Slaughterhouse 5 on time and everyone read. Cooper eats his dinner noisily into the mic while talking. Tibs recounts of tale from his younger days when he drank 3 cans of spagehtti o's, and has a existential crisis because of the current covid-19 pandemic.
Thank you so much Elijah Hood. You are amazing. Stay till the end to hear the new outro, or look it up on youtube! Thank you again Elijah!
The meme contest for the new book has ended, Cooper beat Tibs at pokemon in 2007, we can now listen to the intro live. Jacob tells the tale of the overly friendly meth head Jay. Lots happen, this is a top tier content baby. Also, the book for next week is Slaughter House 5, the first 5 chapters of the book. Jacob promised he will read this one, can't wait to see if he was telling the truth.
The fools get back together after a two-week break and to be frank, don't talk about LOTR at all. I mean like there is maybe five minutes this time and some of the most important chapters in the series, but nah. COVID takes center stage as the fools fight to pick the next book.
Not gonna lie these chapters where kind meh. Furthermore, since this came out the world has ended and we had to push back our cast further and further. Next one is coming out soon, and then we should be back on schedule. Unless we all die because of this virus. Zombies could realistically happen guys, I'm being fr fr
One of the fools doesn't like what he just read. The other two don't agree. Find out who lands were on this episode of FYF. I'll give you a hint though, one person actually READ the chapters so he probably knows what he is talking about more than the other two who "read".
In this episode, the fools discuss chapters 11, 12, and 13. Tibs actually has some good insights into Tolkien's writing process and how he added elements from his other works into LOTR to make it great. Was he creatively bankrupt? No. Did he really love his wife? Oh yea!
In this episode, the fools discuss what happens to Frodo and the gang after they meet Strider, spoiler alert, not much. They really just talk about things for two chapters of reading, and it's only like semi-important.
I fixed the audio so now it just sounds normally bad instead of extract bad. But just as our tech is failing, the lord of the rings is picking up.
The Fools discuss Frodo and his gang truly setting out on their adventure to bring the ring to Rivendell. Tom Bombadil makes his first appearance as well so you know this episode is gonna be great.
If you like lord of the rings you are really gonnna hate this episode cause we talk about it for maybe five minutes. If you are listening for the colorful commentary well... Enjoy!
Will the boys be able to plan a snowboarding trip? Have the boys officially given up on talking through the lord of the rings? Is this the shortest episode? To find the answer to all these questions and more of life's mysteries, tune in to episode 8 of the FYFcast. Have a question or comment? Hit us up @FYFcast on twitter world.
The fools discuss the second movie in The Hobbit trilogy: The Desolation of Smaug. Will the fools like it as much as the first entry? Will Jacob have finally watched prior to podcasting? Will Jon ever recover from his demoralizing skinny dipping experience? No, no he won't it was very traumatic for me not gonna lie. But tune in anyway and stay till the end to hear the newest segment!
In this episode, the boys review the first part of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. Will the boys hate it as much as the critics do? Listen and find out! Or don't, I'm not your dad.
The Fools finish The hobbit! Discuss how they felt about the book now compared to how they felt when they read the book as kids. Then they discuss the future of the podcast, new formats, new things to review, and most importantly new mics! Next week, we watch and review The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Jacob's getting surgery on his eye. We listen to the new intro. After 45 minutes we discuss the lord of the rings a little bit. Also, Jacob backs out of the sober october swimming challenge. Basically Tibs and Cooper try to save Jacob as best we can.
Jacob maintains his eye stye and adds a cauliflower ear. Cooper hits his daily macros with lipsmacking on mic asmr. Tibs can be heard, and is in trouble with his girlfriend. The gang blows of LOTR and spends half the time reading riddles from websites, lying, and claiming they came up with them. Listen up.
Jacob forces Jon to call in for this episode, Cooper gets a new Mic, and Bilbo goes to Rivendell. We also go into the Goblin Wars, and try to unravel the history of the Dwarves.
In this episode, the boys pick a title and discuss chapters 1-2 of The Hobbit. And by discuss, I mean get way off topic and focus on the problems of antisemitism plaguing the Darwven populations of Arda.
