This is a public episode. Roleplaying games and the Marvel universe may be fictional, but they can also teach us a lot about morality in the real world. Christopher Robichaud is a Lecturer in Ethics and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. In this episode, he shares ways we can explore important, everyday issues in fun, safe, and unexpected ways. Christopher has made a career out of teaching ethics and philosophy using pop culture, dissecting moral questions using anything from zombie apocalypse simulations to superhero narratives. He received his doctorate in philosophy from MIT. In 2015 he won the Innovation in Teaching Award at the Harvard Kennedy School for creating a day-long simulation--using design elements from old school tabletop roleplaying games like D&D--where policy students wielded their leadership skills and confronted ethical dilemmas to deal with a zombie pandemic. Few voices are as instantly recognisable as Colin Blunstone's. As the lead singer of The Zombies, he helped define the sound of the British Invasion with timeless classics including She's Not There, Tell Her No, Time of the Season and the landmark album Odessey and Oracle. More than six decades later, Colin continues to tour the world, record new music and perform with the same unmistakable voice that first captivated audiences in the 1960s.In this episode of A Breath of Fresh Air, Colin shares the extraordinary story behind one of rock's most influential bands. He explains how The Zombies came together through little more than chance, why Rod Argent almost remained the band's lead singer, and how She's Not There became a worldwide hit despite a chaotic recording session. Colin reflects on the realities of life during the British Invasion, revealing why hit records didn't necessarily mean financial success and how the original band ultimately dissolved while still enjoying international acclaim. The conversation also explores Colin's remarkable solo career, including his brief period recording as Neil MacArthur, the success of Say You Don't Mind, his years with Elton John's Rocket Records, working alongside Alan Parsons and Dave Stewart, and the unexpected legal battle that temporarily stalled his career. Colin opens up about returning to live performance after more than twenty years away, the reunion with Rod Argent that led to the rebirth of The Zombies, and the band's emotional induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.Along the way, Colin discusses maintaining his voice into his eighties, the discipline required to continue performing at the highest level, overcoming self-doubt despite decades of success, and why he still believes nobody in the music industry truly knows what tomorrow will bring. If you love classic rock, the British Invasion, timeless songwriting and honest conversations with legendary artists, this episode offers a rare opportunity to hear the remarkable story behind one of music's most distinctive voices. And ... if you're in any of these cities make sure you go see The Zombies live!Sep 2 Somerville TheatreSomerville (Boston), MA The Fixx, Colin Blunstone, and Peter AsherSep 4 Count Basie Center for the ArtsRed Bank, NJSep 5The ParamountHuntington (Long Island), NYSep 6 United TheatreWesterly, RISep 8 Tupelo Music Hall Derry, NHTSep 10 Adler Hall New York Society for Ethical Culture New YorkSep 11 Keswick Theatre Glenside (Philadelphia), PASep 12 Warner TheatreWashington, DCSep 13 he Kent StageKent, OHSep 15 Uptown TheaterMinneapolis, MNSep 17 Genesee Theatre Waukegan (Chicago), ILSep 18 The Ludlow GarageCincinnati, OHSep 19 Barrymore Theatre Madison, WISep 21 DeVos Performance HallGrand Rapids, MISep 23 Brown County Music Center NashvilleSep 26 College Street Music Hall New Haven, CTSep 27 Santander Performing Arts Center Reading, PASep 29 RIT Performing Arts CenterRochester, NYTSep 30 Troy Savings Bank Music HallTroy, NY

When a first date between a doomsday prepper and a nerdy film professor goes horribly, zombie-apocalypse-level wrong, the mismatched pair team up on a road trip to safety in this delightfully feral rom-com. 'Doomsdate' is the latest from Laura Piper Lee, and we were so excited to have her on the podcast, not long after her recent visit to Love & Other Books! Laura is super charming, definitely irreverent, very down-to-earth, and occasionally PG-13 with her language, which made for a hoot of an episode. You don't want to miss it, because we talk about quite a piquant variety of topics, most of which are covered in her excellent rom-com novels!  https://www.laurapiperlee.com/

Is Stevie Wonder really blind? Did Sony kill Michael Jackson?  Is botox contributing to the future Zombie apocalypse?  Are giants and Himalayan sea salt somehow part of a much bigger story?  We watch, we debate, we ask way too many questions, and then we vote... Could it be true, or is the internet officially unwell?  No fact-checking.  No deep dives.  Just the 3SchemeQueens, questionable evidence, and pure conspiracy chaos.Send us Fan MailSupport the showTheme song by INDA

This term, coined by Alex and his co-authors, Matt Alvesson, PhD, and Stephen Reicher, PhD, refers to an equally fascinating and destructive phenomenon currently plaguing the global workforce. So, that begs the question: What is Zombie Leadership? What are these undead ideas that continue to walk among us, refusing to die? Jonah Goldberg is not a bigot. Yet, as we all know, there are exceptions to every rule. The French are one of those exceptions. In particular, Jonah sees the cheese-eating surrender monkeys' refusal to embrace America's foremost gift to the civilized world—air conditioning—as an offense against all reason and good sense. Nevertheless, being a fair-minded man, Jonah is willing to give the French a hearing. Having no desire to talk to an actual Frenchy, however, he's turned to the next best thing: an American who lives in France.  Sweat beading on his forehead, Thomas Chatterton Williams joins The Remnant not only to make apology for his adoptive country's backward ways, but to dispense his usual authoritative takes on politics and culture, covering race in France, the Rassemblement National, radical Islam, integration, accents, Woke 1, Jason Arday, 80/20 issues, policing speech, The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan, and Jonah's ideal zombie movie. And here we have another edition of Dead Man Still Walking, *the* Zombie Movie Podcast starring Dr. Walking Dead himself, the distinguished Dr. Kyle Bishop! For this embalmed but exhumed excursion into the murkiest depths of zombie cinema, the good doctor welcomes first-time DMSW guest Mister Watson — a man whose exceptional movie picks have earned him praise from Jay of the Dead. Naturally, Dr. Bishop rewards Watson's exemplary taste by subjecting him to a movie widely considered to be "one of the worst zombie movies ever made": Zombie Lake (1981). Set in a French village roughly 10 years after World War II, "Zombie Lake" concerns a squad of slain German soldiers whose bodies were dumped into a mysterious lake — only for the waterlogged Nazis to rise again and terrorize the townspeople. Also in Episode 187, Dr. Walking Dead and Mister Watson discuss the film's painfully poor makeup, historically questionable uniforms, gratuitous Euro-sleaze, interminable flashback and truly baffling zombie behavior. Are these creatures flesh-eating zombies, blood-drinking vampires or merely undead horndogs with an irresistible attraction to skinny-dippers? And yet, buried beneath the green face paint and woeful execution, our reviewers discover the remains of a potentially compelling movie. The mythology of a lake that demands human sacrifices, a forbidden wartime romance, a zombie father who remembers and protects his daughter, and a community haunted by the consequences of its past all suggest that "Zombie Lake" might deserve that rarest of cinematic opportunities: a remake of a bad movie. Join Dr. Bishop and Mister Watson as they attempt to find intelligent thematic possibilities in a film that stubbornly refuses to contain them! Note: This episode reveals major plot spoilers from "Zombie Lake" (1981). Also, to view ALL of Dr. Bishop's Dead Man Still Walking solocast episodes can USE THIS LINK. Dr. Walking Dead also presents a popular segment called The Dead Zone on regular episodes of this podcast. For his Dead Man Still Walking solocast episodes, Dr. Bishop will focus exclusively on zombie films, with the occasional exploration of zombie-related themes, zombie television, and other zombie media (e.g., comics, literature, etc.). Dr. Bishop is an academic and professional scholar of zombie films and other zombie narratives. He has been teaching for 26 years. On Van Der Wolf brand, it's got gratuitous female nudity and Italians. That film that starts the final pairing of Season 17 is Lucio Fulci's ZOMBI 2 (1979).*  Staring store-brand Mia Farrow and at least one British actor who, due to the Video Nasties in England, was unable to see the film for years after its retitled release as Zombie Flesh-Eaters in the UK.** The flick begins and ends in New York City with permit-less guerrilla filmmaking, and while its gory middle occurs on a Caribbean island where a plague ship leads a reporter and daughter*** in search of the doctor/father (and boat owner) who has been White-manning on the island. The reporter and daughter's search unites them with a White couple owning a boat and a underwater zombie and a shark, the latter two famously fight. Things go pear-shaped when another White woman on the island gets an up-close look at a jagged piece of wood and the outbreak of medical or mystical or who-cares origin brings back the dead, including conquistadors, while killing those infected, like the island's population. The reporter-daughter pair, now likely a romantic couple at the end of the film, narrowly escape the plague island before returning to the archipelago of NYC where the Twin Towers still stand.****    This ep, Erik tries to backdoor into the end of the recording an episode of his own podcast; Ryan finds a way to bring up Tarantino; Ken defends shaking fists and crying; and Thomas learns about the 1970s bra allergy pandemic.*****    Next week brings Season 17 to a fortunate close with the return of Jack.    FOOTNOTES:*There is no Zombi 1. Yet. **In the U.S., the film was released as Zombie. In the Netherlands (hi, Shannon!), it was released in English as Zombie 2. ***Two different characters played by actors, the former male and the latter female. ****And zombies have overrun one of the city's bridges. Oh, yeah, and there was a weird autopsy scene earlier in the film with a very condescending medical examiner. *****We're trying something new in the show notes where I'm getting paid by the footnote. Send us Fan MailWhat if the frustration, anger, and resistance showing up in your organization aren't signs of disengagement—but signals that your people still deeply care?In Part Two of From Zombies to Zealots: Cultivating Passion and Purpose in Healthcare Leadership, host Chris Comeaux continues his thought-provoking conversation with DJ Mitsch, author, master coach, and founder of the Healthcare Coaching Institute, and Tasha Walsh, CEO and Executive Director of ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice.Healthcare and hospice professionals often enter the field because they feel called to the work.  But regulations, audits, documentation requirements, productivity pressures, and constant organizational change can gradually disconnect people from that deeper sense of purpose.  DJ challenges leaders to recognize what happens when meaningful, purpose-driven work becomes dominated by the language of compliance rather than creation. Using the real-world example of hospice audits and documentation pressure, the conversation explores how fear of financial clawbacks and increased scrutiny can ripple through an organization and contribute to caregiver burnout. Rather than ignoring those emotions, DJ and Tasha encourage leaders to acknowledge them—and use anger, fear, frustration, and even pushback as valuable information. As DJ explains, anger can become fuel for change.  Tasha takes that idea further: what lies beneath someone's frustration may be a deep commitment to patients, coworkers, or the mission.  Effective leaders learn to uncover that meaning, transform emotional energy into courage, and create space for difficult but necessary conversations. In This Episode, You'll Discover:Why purpose-driven healthcare professionals can become disconnected from their callingHow leaders can shift the organizational conversation from compliance to creationWhy anger, fear, frustration, and resistance shouldn't automatically be labeled “negative”How to use emotion as information—and transform it into constructive actionWhy taking a breath and really listening can change the direction of a difficult interactionHow leaders can create cultures where people feel safe bringing their authentic selves to workWhy organizational culture is shaped by what leaders repeatedly tolerate, encourage, and createHow healthcare leaders can become change agents rather than passive participants in a dysfunctional systemOne of the most powerful ideas from the conversation is that naming what people are experiencing can reduce its hold over them.  By giving language to fear, anger, and frustration, leaders can help their teams redirect that energy toward something more productive. And ultimately, the goal isn't simply to build a more “resilient” workforce. It's to create an environment where people are excited to come to life fully every day. What is the culture you're creating helping your people become—zombies or zealots?Guest:Tasha Walsh, LCSW, PCC CEO/ED of Connections Plus Healthcare + Hospice Darelyn DJ Mitsch, Author, Master Coach, and Chief Energy Officer, The Pyramid Resource Group, Home of the Healthcare Coaching Institute and Team Advantage Team Coaching Host:Chris Comeaux, President / CEO of TELEIOS, author of The Anatomy of LeadershipIf this conversation resonates with you, like, subscribe, and share this episode with another healthcare, hospice, or business leader who is working to create a more engaged, purpose-driven culture. The Anatomy of Leadership podcast explores the art and science of leadership through candid, insightful conversations with thought leaders, innovators, and change-makers from a variety of industries. Dentistry has become a target. From Hormozi-style marketers to practice brokers charging six figures for "scaling retreats," everyone suddenly wants a piece of the profession. In this episode, Dr. Peter Boulden, Dr. Craig Spodak, and Ian de Jongh unpack why dentists are easy prey, how to spot the warning signs of a predatory pitch, and why the same voices who screamed "sell now before the bubble pops" in 2023 are now selling solutions to the dentists who listened. They also dig into the rise of the zombie DSO: the 50 to 60 private equity backed groups that can no longer service their debt, can't recap, and never improved the practices they bought. What does this unwind mean for the doctors who rolled equity? And why does the market correction actually signal a powerful shift back toward independent ownership? Plus: why AI is becoming the great equalizer for the solo practitioner, the one moat DSOs still hold, and an open invitation to Brady Frank to come on the show and talk it out. Welcome back to Fraudology.Since I've been back from SardineCon, I've thought about how much faster and cheaper AI is making fraud. That thread runs through basically everything I'm covering today. I'm digging into a new report from Inscribe showing a 4X increase in AI generated documents. I'll walk through the difference between a document that's built entirely by AI and one that's a real document with AI alterations. Because they are not the same problem. Then we will go deep on a digital arrest scam, and this is the one I really want you to sit with. Frank McKenna has been predicting digital arrests would hit the US for almost a year. I found a first person account from a woman who got a call claiming to be from her local sheriff's department. What happened to her over the next several hours is genuinely hard to listen to. I think this is one every fraud fighter needs to be able to explain to the people in their own life who aren't in this industry.Along the way, I'm covering a case out of Spain where a man was arrested for using deepfakes to get past identify verification checks, a new report on Grok deepfakes, and a study out of UMass on zombie credit cards. Which is a real NFC fraud loophole. It's a lot but stick with me.What you'll hear:A quick recap of SardineCon 2026 and why AI was the theme of nearly every conversation I had thereInscribe's new fraud report showing a 4X increase in AI generated documents, and why bank statement fraud, fake invoices, and fake pay stubs make up more than half of what they're catchingThe difference between AI generated documents and AI altered ones, and why the altered ones are actually harder to catchHow synthetic identity fraud and first party fraud both show up in lending fraud, even when the person applying is realA case out of Spain where deepfakes almost got a man through identity verification, until a one second glitch gave him awayA new report on Grok deepfakes and what it means that one platform is tied to the majority of tracked incidentsA UMass study on zombie credit cards and the NFC fraud loophole that can bring expired cards back to lifeThe full, first person story of a digital arrest scam, including the jury duty scam call, someone impersonating law enforcement, a bond scam demand, and a PayPal fraud payment that couldn't be undoneYou should listen to this episode if you:Want to understand what a digital arrest scam actually sounds like from the insideAre in lending, underwriting, or KYC and need to know how bank statement fraud and fake pay stubs are evolvingWant to know the real difference between synthetic identity fraud and first party fraudHave family members who don't work in fraud and need a real example to help them recognize a jury duty scam or someone impersonating law enforcementAre tracking deepfakes and want to know where Grok deepfakes fit into the bigger pictureProcess card not present or in person transactions and haven't heard about the zombie credit card loophole yet

Weird Darkness: Stories of the Paranormal, Supernatural, Legends, Lore, Mysterious, Macabre, Unsolved

A drug said to turn victims into compliant “zombies,” some of the strangest true crime cases ever recorded, the bizarre history of chastity belts, the terrifying legend of Baba Yaga, and the mysterious Oera Linda manuscript.EPISODE BLOG PAGE (includes sources):  https://weirddarkness.com/ZombieCrimesREAD or DOWNLOAD the full transcript of this episode: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/yckk7x3vFEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: It's nickname is “Columbian Devil's Breath” – and it's so powerful it can turn perfectly healthy people into mindless zombies. We'll look at the dangerous and deadly drug, Burundanga. (A Drug That Creates Zombies) *** The chastity belt has, through the ages, become more of a humorous analogy or punchline than the real thing. But then, that's appropriate – seeing as it actually began as a middle-ages joke. (The Strange Truth Behind Chastity Belts) *** A fearsome witch, she is said to kidnap, roast, and eat children in the woods. No – this is not the story of Hansel and Gretel. This witch is much more terrifying – she is the Baba Yaga. (The Legend of Baba Yaga) *** The Oera Linda book is a manuscript written in a form of Old Frisian, purporting to cover historical, mythological, and religious themes of remote antiquity, from 2194 BC to 803 AD. Many are fascinated by what it says others claim it is a hoax or forgery. What is the truth behind the Oera Linda? (What Is The Oera Linda?)
