The second part of the monthly new release series is generally dominated by the latest records Malibu Lou has put out on his legendary Rum Bar Records label. This month is no different, and it’s a perfect kick off to over two hours of great new tunes. The Hollywood Stars, The Amplifier Heads, Stop Calling Me Frank, Gene Champagne and Girl With a Hawk are this month’s Rum Bar representatives, and they’re all fabulous. There’s also a sampler of tunes from the lastest Dam-Nations compilation series. The rest of the show is a battle of sorts between veterans and noobs. On the veterans side, there’s great new music from the likes of Guided By Voices, Social Distortion, Dwarves, Die Toten Hosen (their final album!), Nashville Pussy, and the Real McKenziess. On the “noob” side, there are acts sucks as Irked, Taxi Girls, Cable TV, Hoaxxers, and so many more that once again proves there will always be great new rock and roll bands! What’s your favorite new album? For more info, including setlists, head to http://scotthudson.blogspot.com
Playlist;DWARVES “We are the scene”DWARVES “Here we come”DWARVES “Confused”DWARVES “Bad drugs”DWARVES “Damned if I do”DWARVES “Too messed up”DWARVES “Last chance Lily”DELIVERY “Like a million bucks”JACK WHITE “Dollar bill”TY SEGALL “Black paint”TAXI GIRLS “Secret handshake”PLASTIC MEAT “Choking me me”LAS PETUNIAS “Agota la suerte”SLIPPERS “Fool in your room”THE MUFFS “Saying goodbye”THE SPEEDWAYS “Luna”MARC VALENTINE “High in the underground”THE SIDESHOWS “Brand new”CHINAS COMIDAS “Hallelujah”X “Ruby church”JACUZZI BOYS “Being dragged”PARQUET COURTS “Watching strangers smile”Escuchar audio
Today's episode starts exactly how you'd expect from a group of professional broadcasters... by arguing over cartoon dwarves and immediately proving why the game is called Matchup With The Morons. The crew jumps into a surprisingly intense round of trivia featuring Moon, King Scott, Rafe, and Learn, where confidence levels are high and actual knowledge levels vary dramatically. One wrong dwarf answer sparks a chain reaction of chaos that somehow leads to discussions about Indiana Jones, giant lizards, world rivers, and whether anyone actually knows where French fries came from.Things get even stranger when the gang learns about a man who has eaten more than 34,000 Big Macs in his lifetime. That's not a typo. That's a lifestyle choice. The crew tries to guess the Guinness World Record total and discovers that some people collect baseball cards while others collect burger receipts for five decades.Meanwhile, Rafe and Learn square off in a battle that becomes unexpectedly competitive thanks to classic rock knowledge, superhero trivia, and one question about collective nouns that nearly sends everyone into a full-scale grammatical civil war. Is it a knot of toads? An army of toads? A conference of toads? Nobody leaves this episode feeling smarter. The music trivia alone is worth the ride. The crew debates Led Zeppelin, The Yardbirds, Paul McCartney, and enough rock history to make your dad text the family group chat. Add in random movie facts, Titanic budget discussions, and the usual barrage of sarcastic commentary, and you've got another perfectly ridiculous day with The Rizzuto Show. This comedy podcast proves once again that a room full of adults can spend half an hour debating topics that absolutely should not require debate. Somehow that turns into entertainment. If you love a comedy podcast packed with weird facts, hilarious fails, pop culture randomness, competitive nonsense, and the kind of arguments that only happen on live radio, this episode delivers all of it.Thanks for listening to another comedy podcast from The Rizzuto Show, where the facts are questionable, the confidence is unlimited, and the Big Mac math is somehow the most accurate thing discussed all day.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Convulsiones en el universo crampiano. Se anuncia la edición de un disco inédito grabado por The Cramps en 1977 a las órdenes de Alex Chilton, un trabajo que se habría adelantado en dos años a su primer EP. If the Dwarves love anything it's the stuff that they make. How does this impact their understanding of inheritance or their practice of handing things down? Related to this question, we spend some time considering "Does greed shape how all dwarves hand things down, or is it just Thorin?"
Send us Fan MailIt's a rock n roll legend extravaganza this week as Blag, frontman of The Dwarves, comes to MLPP Towers to cause some chaos! As well as discussing The Dwarves new record "Jenkem" (which lands on 5th of June) we hear stories about very short gigs, fibbing your way onto an acclaimed documentary, get some views on punk and rock royalty, discuss English weather, English hotels, living life in the fast lane as you get older and of course, your questions get answered in the Big Book of Bullshit. The hosts have had a relaxing weekend involving doing very little, Tom goes on a mission in order to become husband of the year, a host gets annoyed with local youths and we list some "play on words" band names that we've been creating.Songs this week come from: Sloppy Seconds, A100s, Hell Beach, Off With Their Heads and Gas Station Boner Pills.

Host Edith welcomes returning guest Caroline Ailanthus to discuss her new epic fantasy novel The Elf, the Dwarf and the Telegraph: Book One, the first in a trilogy. Caroline explains the story's large scope and ensemble cast, centered on three protagonists including Gwen, a transgender half-elf with a sword, in a quasi-Roman world on the brink of civil war driven by environmental justice, conservation, science, and threats to democracy. She reads an excerpt depicting a republic's destabilization and autocratic takeover aided by oligarchs, noting historical inspirations from Sherman, Grant, Lincoln, and Julius Caesar and arguing that environmental problems and political instability are connected. Caroline describes her writing process, research-heavy historical models, spreadsheet character tracking, and structuring one arc into three books, and highlights deliberate Tolkien signals, immersive “history-like” worldbuilding, adult tone without explicit sex, and neurodivergent representation through human/elf/dwarven (“Deger”) neurological differences.00:00 Welcome Back Caroline00:54 What the Book Is About03:42 Fantasy Meets Politics08:59 Reading the Prologue11:09 Origins of the Trilogy15:09 Autocrats and History Rhymes22:44 Timeless Fantasy Themes27:47 Writing Process and Characters31:40 Being Kind to Readers32:35 Managing Character POVs33:47 From Standalone to Trilogy34:37 Civil War Research Scale37:53 Where to Split Books41:35 Is Tolkien Still King45:11 Dwarves and Representation48:26 Dark Ages and Paper53:42 Why Read This Book57:03 Neurodivergent Protagonists59:55 Closing Thanks and WrapIf you like what we do, you might consider buying us a coffee. We all know of modern fantasy creatures, and also that they owe a lot to J.R.R. Tolkien, other fantasy authors of the last 60 years, Dungeons & Dragons, or different franchises like Warhammer or Warcraft. But how did these different figures actually form? What are the mythologies, the folklore, and the more recent elements that gave birth to them? This is what we are going to examine in this episode, an exploration journey that will take us from ancient Germanic, Norse and Celt myths to medieval folklore, fairy tales, and contemporary influences. For this show-within-a-show, Craig and Andrew learned about the world of Middle-Earth by reading J.R.R. Tolkien's posthumously published legendarium THE SILMARILLION. This episode posted first for our Patreon supporters in June 2025. If you want to hear our current longread project TOKYO DRIFTERS (and a bunch of other stuff besides), visit Patreon.com/overduepod.In the beginning, Eru Ilúvatar created the heaven and the earth, primarily by watching his child-angels have an epic sing-off. And Melkor was there singing bad stuff, but Ilúvatar was like "no matter how bad you sing I can always make it a part of the awesome world I am building."Anyway, this episode is about perhaps the most biblical part of the Hobbit Bible, where a god-like figure creates the world and casts out one of his followers who thinks he's good enough to challenge god himself. For 17 years, Heather L. Arnold has been studying the archaeological record uncovering evidence of an ancient race of Giants who inhabited the Caribbean islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao nearly 7,000 years ago. When Heather moved from the island of Manhattan to the Island of Aruba to start her own tour company, her quest to provide historically accurate tours for her clients led her down a path of research shrouded by mystery. Through extensive investigations, field expeditions, explorations, and interviews, Heather determined that the true, rich history of the islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao, had been systematically repressed, and vehemently denied. Join us as we dive in to all of the secrets Heather has found! Heather has appeared on several television shows, podcasts, radio programs, and conferences, and her research is cited in several published works of fellow researchers, as well as entered into the Aruba National Archives. She recently moved back to the island of Aruba, where she continues her research while joyfully raising her daughter, who is of Aruban descent., "Mysterious Aruba: Giants, Dwarves, Dinosaurs, and Bigfoot," will be available this year on Amazon.〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰

A friend of Saul and Jolene ran two TTRPGs back to back on a Friday evening over Zoom using a lite ruleset called There and Back Again, and on Saturday morning The One Ring 2nd Edition RPG. The games did not use the same characters. On Friday the players played a group of Dwarves who set out to enter Moria, against the standing order of King Dain Ironfoot. It was literally a tale of There and Back Again. Saturday the players in an on going campaign are around the area of Tharbad. In the past we encountered a pair of Dwarves and later heard about a group of them passing through the ancient city of Tharbad. So the storylines intertwined but only for a moment. Jolene decided to write a tale that one would hear at a tavern. Her character in The One Ring is a schlar and a bit of a storywriter. From her notes of the game and imagination was born Marigold's Dwarven Tale. Saul edited it and added some sound effects but the story was all Jolene. Thank you all for Listening! Episode 2 of our Holiday Interlude dives into the Ring Poem — one of the most spiritually revealing passages in The Lord of the Rings.Using only The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Doug explores how the poem reveals the spiritual identity of Elves, Dwarves, and Men, and what their Rings of Power actually do in Tolkien's world.Discover how the Rings amplify spiritual nature, why some races resist corruption and others fall into it, and how Tolkien subtly shows the unseen forces at work without ever explaining them directly. This episode is a key step in recovering a supernatural imagination — both for reading Tolkien and for understanding the unseen realm in our own world. In this episode, Doug examines the famous Ring Poem:“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky…”Far from being just lore, this poem functions as a map of the spiritual order of Middle-earth. By looking closely at each line, Doug highlights the unique spiritual identities of Elves, Dwarves, and Men — and shows how the Rings of Power amplify what is already true within each race.In this episode you'll learn:- Why the Elven Rings preserve, heal, and resist decay- How the Dwarven Rings amplify desire for gold and the ability to create wealth- Why the Rings given to Men lead to domination, and corruption,- How the One Ring embodies the will of the Dark LordDoug also draws on poetry from The Hobbit to show how Tolkien embeds spiritual identity in song and story.By the end of the episode, listeners will recognize the Rings of Power not as magical devices, but as spiritual amplifiers that reveal — and distort — the identity of those who use them. This is a foundational episode for learning to “see” the spiritual forces moving in Tolkien's world, and for recognizing similar patterns in our world and in Scripture.
Welcome to a special Holiday Interlude of the Seers See Podcast: Seers See the Lord of the Rings. In this mini-season, Doug explores how J.R.R. Tolkien's world can retrain us to think supernaturally—helping modern readers recover the enchanted, pre-materialistic imagination that both Tolkien and Scripture assume.Episode 1 lays out the purpose of the series:- Why Tolkien helps us reawaken a supernatural worldview- How The Lord of the Rings subtly reveals unseen spiritual forces- Why Dr. Cory Olsen (The Tolkien Professor) inspired this approach- How this mini-season bridges into Season 2: Seers of the Bible with Emily in 2026If you've ever wanted to see the spiritual dimension within Tolkien's world—and recognize similar patterns in our own—this episode is your invitation to step through the door and into the unseen realm of Middle-earth.In this opening episode of our Holiday Interlude, Doug explains why Tolkien is the perfect guide for anyone seeking to understand the supernatural world. Tolkien writes with a medieval imagination—a worldview where spiritual beings, providence, enchantment, corruption, and hidden powers operate behind the visible world.Drawing on insights from Dr. Cory Olsen, “The Tolkien Professor,” Doug shows how The Lord of the Rings trains modern readers to notice the spiritual activity Tolkien shows but never over-explains.This approach mirrors how Scripture invites us to recognize unseen forces shaping events, identity, and calling. This episode sets the stage for the mini-season, which will explore:- The Ring Poem (Episode 2)- The Prologue as ancient historiography (Episode 3)- Gandalf's spiritual authority, providence, and the Nazgûl (Episode 4)- Tom Bombadil, nature spirits, singing as spiritual warfare, Caradhras, and moreJoin us as we rediscover the supernatural imagination Tolkien intended—and learn to see the world around us with new eyes.

. Reliquaries, Status Seeking, and Rune Amulets Against Dwarves Eleanor Barraclough Embers of the Hands: Hidden Histories of the Viking Age The discussion moves to reliquaries, originally used in a Christian context, such as at Lindisfarne, to house saints' relics. Norse raiders prized the metal and decoration, discarded the relics, and brought them back to Norway, often gifting them to women. These items were passed down through female generations or repurposed as brooches, suggesting that early raids were often masculine activities focused on acquiring wealth and status necessary for young men to secure a wife and establish a home. Pre-Christian belief systems involved protective runes and amulets against malevolence caused by supernatural beings such as elves or dwarves. A human skull fragment from Geber, Denmark, dating to the early eighth century, was carved with runes, possibly intended to guard against sickness caused by dwarves. 1919
Dwarves, gargantuan evil and much too tiny tunnels - we're covering The Weirdstone of Brisingamen, by Alan Garner! Cheshire visitors Susan and Colin have come to stay with farmers Gowther and Bess and tromp around Alderley Edge. Said tromping unearths a centuries-long battle between good and evil - all connected to the mysterious teardrop gem in Susan's family heirloom bracelet. Tolkien inspiration is on full display but Garner creates a world utterly his own, replete with a heady brew of Norse, Welsh, Celtic and Arthurian mythology plus a little Lovecraftian unspeakable horror. An elemental is a mythic supernatural being that is described in occult and alchemical works from around the time of the European Renaissance, and particularly elaborated in the 16th century works of Paracelsus. According to Paracelsus and his subsequent followers, there are four categories of elementals, which are gnomes, undines, sylphs, and salamanders. These correspond to the four elements of antiquity: earth, water, air, and fire, respectively. Joel goes even deeper into Liber De Nymphis to explore Paracelsus's ideas on the monstras, namely Giants and Dwarfs. He starts by examining what Paracelsus had to say about the nymph, Venus, and her representation of the Divine Feminine that has been passed down since early Mesopotamian culture. He then goes into the construction of the Giants and Dwarfs and if they have the ability to obtain a soul like some of the other elementals. Lastly, Joel looks at the Bible to see if what Paracelsus says lines up with Scripture as a man professing to be a “real” theologian.
