Inside today's featured replay interview, I walk through how to assess metabolic health from both the subjective side of energy, sleep, and appetite regulation and the quantitative side of lab work, and why coaches are best thought of as adaptation managers rather than diet prescribers. I cover the five pillars I use for managing metabolism including managing appetite, maximizing adherence, maximizing absorption, minding micronutrient status, and mitigating metabolic adaptation, and why building these into a framework matters more than following any specific diet or influencer's plan. Topics discussed: - The Two Metabolic Health Avatars- Qualitative vs Quantitative Metabolic Health- Coaches as Adaptation Managers- The 5 Pillars for Managing Metabolism- What, How Much, and When You Eat- When Meal Timing Matters Most- Why TDEE Calculators Miss the Mark- The Food Log and Labs Audit Approach---------- My Live Program for Coaches: The Functional Nutrition and Metabolism Specialization www.metabolismschool.com---------- [Free] Metabolism School 101: The Video Serieshttp://www.metabolismschool.com/metabolism-101----------Subscribe to My Youtube Channel: https://youtube.com/@sammillerscience?si=s1jcR6Im4GDHbw_1----------Grab a Copy of My New Book - Metabolism Made Simple---------- Stay Connected: Instagram: @sammillerscienceYoutube: SamMillerScience Facebook: The Nutrition Coaching Collaborative CommunityTikTok: @sammillerscience----------“This Podcast is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute the practice of medicine, nursing or other professional health care services, including the giving of medical advice, and no doctor/patient relationship is formed. Rita Palumbo, an aerospace engineer at the European Space Agency, joins me to explain why real confidence and authority start in the body before they're skills. But here's what really makes her story land. During her PhD, Rita nearly burned out. Brain fog, exhaustion, unable to think clearly or lead her own research. And it sent her searching for the thing no one had ever taught her: how to actually take care of herself. She became a yoga teacher and a coach, left engineering for a season, then made the intentional choice to come back, this time whole. Now she teaches women to be self-led. And that word is the heart of this whole conversation.A self-led woman, Rita says, shows up from an inner point of authority rather than external expectationAnd she walks us through her entire 6-Pillar Self-Led Woman Pyramid. If you're hyper-competent and still freeze in the moments that matter most, this conversation explains why, and what actually changes it.What You'll LearnWhat it means to be self-led: showing up from inner authority instead of external expectationHow to catch yourself performing confidence, the subtle body cues most women never noticeWhy hyper-prepared, capable women still freeze, and why the fix is in the bodyResources MentionedRita's Website--

Ok - so let's get real - ok?If there's one word that can make therapists and healers roll their eyes and groan, it's marketing.(See? I heard you. Just then! I did!)For so many of us, it brings up old images of pushy salesmen, unbelievable promises, and the yucky energy of trying to convince someone to buy something they don't really need. But that's not who we are, is it? No. It's not.So it's not how we market - either. K?In this conversation from our Summer Replay Series, couples therapist, Mika Ross, shares a refreshingly human perspective on marketing — one that has nothing to do with pretending to be someone you're not – and everything to do with helping people recognize themselves in your story. And one idea from our conversation has stayed with me ever since we first recorded this… People don't connect with perfection. They connect with someone who understands them in a way that most don't.It's the moment someone reads your words and thinks:     "How'd you know that?"Yeah. That's where it all begins. In this episode you'll hear:Why great marketing feels more like a conversation than a sales pitch. The powerful difference between sharing from a scar versus sharing from a wound. (I loved that so much…)Why your own lived experience may be one of your greatest professional assets. (Did you know this?)How authenticity helps your ideal clients choose you before they ever contact you.So good. You'll also learn why trying to sound "professional" can sometimes create distance instead of connection.  (I have to watch that, myself.)Mika is a pure delight. And I think, after hearing her, you'll stop worrying about saying that oh-so-perfect and witty thing. I think you'll realize that all you really have to do is talk to your audience exactly the way you would in your office - as someone who gets them……and can help them move forward.Enjoy. :)~Wendy_______________TODAY'S GUEST:  MIKA ROSSMika Ross is a licensed therapist, relationship coach, speaker, and mom to 3 who has dragged thousands of couples and individuals into better relationships, communication, and well being through her private practice, live workshops, and comprehensive online programs for 18 years. The four pillars act like the legs of a table that the practice is then  built upon. Those four pillars are marketing, systems and procedures, philosophy, and headspace. The five interactions are another part of the practice that will be talking about on next week‘s episode. This week show is part one of a two part episode. So I hope you enjoy this look at the four pillars that your practice is built upon because the stronger you build those pillars, the bigger and more successful your practice can become.

Tara welcomes Canadian (Nova Scotia) author Corinne Hoebers to discuss her latest novel, Tethered Spirits: Wiaqtaqne'wasultijik na Kjijaqmijinaq, OC Publishing, 2025. Corinne explains how she worked with the Mi'kmaq community to ensure historical accuracy while also telling the story of her own 1753 settlers of Lunenburg ancestors. From Goodreads: "Against the violent backdrop of the French and Indian (Seven Years) War, two German siblings come to learn about and understand the Mi'kmaq. Christian, now named Bear Cub, lives with the ancient People and develops a deep bond with his chosen brother, Eagle Feather, while his new family's way of life is increasingly threatened. On the outskirts of Lunenburg, Hanna, his younger sister, befriends a Mi'kmaw Elder and questions her papa's ownership of the land they are settling. Christian immerses himself in the Mi'kmaw language and the ways of the land, prepared to defend the People alongside Eagle Feather. Christian's father and older sister, Elisabeth, refuse to accept his new way of life; nor will they recognize the humanity of their perceived enemy. Christian is caught between two diverse families and cultures- the one to which he was born and to whom he feels obligated, and the one he has grown to love and respect. Settlers and Mi'kmaq alike struggle on land that is the ancestral home to one and promised to the other, a struggle that resonates to this day." https://corinnehoebers.mywriting.network/   Recommended titles: The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett John Newton: From Disgrace to Amazing Grace by Jonathan Aitken The Shack: Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity by William Paul Young The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy

In the spring of the year 73, after Jerusalem had already fallen to Roman forces, 960 Jews atop a desert fortress chose death by their own hand rather than surrender. We know the story because of Josephus, the 1st-century Jewish historian and former rebel commander who turned chronicler of the very revolt he had once been a part of. Yesterday was Tisha b'Av, which commemorates the destruction of the two Temples. Josephus records another catastrophe: Masada, the last stand of the Sicarii, the most militant faction of the Jewish rebels, against Rome, and a mass suicide that Jewish tradition has argued over ever since. Was it heroism? Was it madness? Should the Jews of Masada instead have followed in the path chosen by Rabbi Yohanan ben Zakkai and the sages at Yavneh—accommodating the enemy to preserve the Torah? This week's podcast is an episode of The Pillars, a series produced by the Lobel Center for Jewish Classical Education and hosted by Rabbi Mitchell Rocklin. In this episode, Rabbi Rocklin takes up Josephus's account directly—what it asks of us, what the rabbis made of it, and what it has come to mean for the modern state of Israel. The episode first aired this past March, but its questions are the questions Jews are reflecting on during this week in the liturgical calendar, about the demands of Jewish sovereignty and God's providence in history.

What if everything you've been taught about grit, success, and resilience is incomplete? In this powerful episode of The Growth Now Movement, I sit down with Kelly Green—a psychotherapist, resilience researcher, farmer, university lecturer, and one of the most inspiring people I've had on the show. Kelly's story is one of unimaginable adversity, incredible achievement, and profound healing. After surviving childhood sexual abuse and being sold for sex as a child, Kelly spent much of her life doing what so many high achievers do—proving her worth through achievement. She went from working at McDonald's to becoming an attorney, building a successful law practice, earning her Master's degree in Psychology from Harvard, and dedicating her life to helping others heal from trauma. But despite all of her accomplishments, her body began keeping score. Kelly shares how unresolved trauma led to multiple autoimmune diagnoses and forced her to confront an uncomfortable truth: success doesn't automatically equal healing. During our conversation, we dive deep into the difference between grit and true resilience, why so many entrepreneurs and high performers burn themselves out chasing achievement, and how trauma affects our biology, mindset, and relationships. Kelly also shares her groundbreaking five pillars of holistic resilience and practical ways we can begin building a life that's not just successful—but sustainable and fulfilling. If you've ever felt like you're doing all the right things but still feel exhausted, stuck, or disconnected from yourself, this episode will challenge the way you think about success, healing, and resilience. In This Episode, We Discuss: Kelly's incredible journey from childhood trauma to Harvard graduate The difference between grit and true resilience Why high achievers often struggle with burnout and autoimmune disease How childhood trauma impacts your biology and nervous system The five pillars of holistic resilience Why success doesn't always lead to fulfillment Human connection and mentorship as keys to healing Practical ways to build emotional and physical resilience The biggest lesson Kelly learned about taking ownership of her healing journey Daily habits that create a more resilient and purpose-driven life Connect with Kelly Green: Website: HolisticResilience.com Learn more about Kelly's resilience research, assessments, and upcoming tools.

Don't Let Shame Destroy These 3 Christian Relationship Pillars

Shame in Christian relationships can quietly make you hide from the very people you want to love and be loved by. In this Binmin episode, we talk honestly about why shame builds emotional walls, why vulnerability feels dangerous, and how fear of rejection can keep you distant from friends, dating relationships, small groups, roommates, pastors, counselors, and even God.When you secretly believe something is wrong with you, it becomes easier to avoid being fully known. You may want deep connection but still pull away when someone gets close. You may want real friendship but keep conversations surface-level. You may want to date with courage but feel trapped by the fear of rejection. This episode looks at shame through the story of Adam and Eve hiding in Genesis 3 and connects that biblical picture to the way we still hide today. We also talk about practical steps toward wise vulnerability: sharing honestly, asking better questions, following up with people, and learning how to open up without being reckless. Vulnerability is not pretending every relationship is safe. It means taking wise, prayerful steps toward deeper connection while rooting your identity in Christ. If you feel lonely, guarded, rejected, embarrassed, or afraid to let people see the real you, this conversation is for you. God sees you, knows you, loves you, and gives you courage to move toward healthier Christian relationships.SUBSCRIBE to our channel / @binmin_org JOIN the NEWSLETTER at https://binmin.org/newsletter/SUPPORT Binmin with a tax-deductible gift HERE - https://binmin.org/donate0:00 What if shame is sabotaging your relationships?0:44 Why shame makes us hide1:36 Why we avoid being fully known1:59 How past hurt builds emotional walls3:24 Fear of rejection in friendships and dating4:30 Regret, rejection, and choosing courage5:20 How to start being vulnerable wisely6:07 Self-sharing and asking better questions7:54 Why following up deepens friendship8:29 Root vulnerability in God's love9:27 Your next step: get vulnerable10:15 Share, subscribe, and find your next stepJOIN the NEWSLETTER. Everyone has an opinion about the late Russian historian Richard Pipes. Some loved him. Many hated him. He was a conservative and anti-communist. A hardliner on American policy toward the Soviet Union. Some would even say he was a Russophobe and cultural essentialist. But Pipes was a far more complicated figure. A Polish Jew whose family fled before the Nazis arrived, Pipes possessed a strong moral center that stood at the heart of his rejection of the USSR. He eventually applied his vision to his work as a Russian historian at Harvard. Pipes was also at the ground floor of a new academic discipline. He studied under Michael Karpovich, the founder of Russian studies in the US, and was part of a grad cohort that included Russian history Brahmins Leopold Haimson, Marc Raeff, Martian Malia, and Nicholas Raisonovsky. All these men would staff history departments at Berkeley, Harvard, and Columbia, and train a generation of scholars. Pipes knew his stuff, and eventually applied his knowledge in public debate and advice to the Reagan Administration. Pipes was a man of the 20th century, and in my opinion, one of the last serious intellectual conservatives. So who was he? How did he “know” Russia? And in what ways does his historical analysis of Russia, which spanned centuries, echo today? The Eurasian Knot spoke to Jonathan Daly, a former Pipes student, about his new biography of Pipes, The Man Who Knew Russia, and what drove this self-identified perennial outsider. Also, check out my article “Richard Pipes, the Historian as Essentialist” published in Jacobin in 2018.Guest:Jonathan Daly teaches Russian, European, and world history at the University of Illinois Chicago. He's the author of several books, most recently he edited Pillars of the Profession: The Correspondence of Richard Pipes and Marc Raeff and wrote The Man Who Knew Russia: Richard Pipes, Humanist and Cold Warrior published by Stanford University Press. I was having affairs on my wife. We filed for divorce. I woke up one night and God was showing me what I was about to wreck.   Jonathan Berryhill left home at 15 with no foundation under him. He found structure in the Army infantry, adrenaline in law enforcement narcotics and undercover work, and then success across real estate, healthcare, and government contracting — multiple seven- and eight-figure businesses. He's been married 30 years to his high school sweetheart. He has seven children and three grandchildren. He's the author of Warrior to Wealth and leads three real estate brokerages with 50+ agents — having gone from first licensed at 43 to seven figures in commissions in five years.   But the story that defines him isn't any of those. It's the marriage he almost wrecked, the man he had to become, and the 5 Pillars he built every day after on — Identity, Discipline, Execution, Ownership, Legacy.   In this conversation, Jonathan and Ted go deep on the drift that destroys male veterans and operators, the question that exposes it (what are the top three things you want to be best at, and where's your time at?), the contrarian operator reframe Jonathan uses with his team (pick your hard — broke is hard, successful is hard, pick), the 5-Pillar playbook from the book, and the loss of his best friend at 45 that re-anchored everything.   If you're a man between 25 and 55 carrying a marriage, a business, a family — and you can feel the drift but can't name it — this one's for you.   Key insights from this episode:  Why losing your military identity is a leading cause of post-service drift The diagnostic question every drifting man needs to answer Pick your hard: broke is hard, successful is hard, you don't get to skip both The 5 Pillars: Identity, Discipline, Execution, Ownership, Legacy "You cannot be a victim and a victor at the same time. Pick one." Why visualization beat motivation for Jonathan's college football and real estate runs The CrossFit-of-real-estate move: starting over at 43 (and what it built) Why faith is uncomfortable (and that's the point) The night his best friend died — and what changed in him   Chapters: 00:00 The 2 a.m. confession  00:40 – Introduction: Meet Jonathan Barry Hill  03:28 – Growing Up Without a Foundation 07:18 – The Army: Discipline, Structure & Purpose 11:40 – Law Enforcement and the Silent Drift 15:42 – Losing His Marriage & Finding God 20:35 – What Causes Men to Drift? 24:55 – The One Question Every Man Should Ask Himself 29:12 – Walking On to College Football at 25 35:18 – Becoming the Warrior Within 40:45 – From Premed to Entrepreneurship 46:20 – Building Multiple Successful Businesses 51:38 – Why Comfort Is the Enemy of Growth 57:04 – Starting Over at 43 in Real Estate 1:02:28 – Visualization & Identity-Based Success 1:07:44 – The Five Pillars of Warrior to Wealth 1:14:12 – Victim or Victor: Pick One 1:20:06 – Legacy: Building More Than Wealth 1:25:18 – Why the Last Man Standing Often Wins 1:30:05 – Seasons of Battle & Personal Loss 1:36:48 – Faith, Prayer & Living With Purpose 1:43:10 – The Wisdom of Proverbs 1:47:35 – Advice for Men Who Feel Stuck 1:53:22 – Everyone Is Fighting Something 1:56:10 – Final Lessons & Key Takeaways     Berryhill's Links: Website: jonberryhill.com Facebook:@jonhannah.berryhill3  Instagram:  @jon.berryhill LinkedIn:  jonathan-berryhill Threads@jon.berryhill Agent Blueprint Playbook: JonBerryhill: Agent Blueprint Playbook

Always be a friend to the little man. The popular come and go. Put the little man  on the front row. 16. Return all emails and phone calls within 24 hours. 17. Write notes. 18. You can't think your way into being a good parent. You heal your way there. Dr. Shefali Tsabary, the pioneer of the conscious parenting movement, has sat across from Lewis before, but this conversation lands at a moment that feels different. The world your kids are growing up in has changed, and so has what they need from you. She walks through what is really happening to a generation raised by algorithms, why boys and girls get hijacked in completely different ways, what waits for any boy left uninitiated, and the quiet trap set for every parent who swore they would do it differently than their own. There is a blueprint underneath all of it. Pillars for raising a daughter who keeps her voice and her boundaries. A plan for a son no one is showing how to become a man.
