Mit Kai Wingenfelder. Wer ständig derselbe bleibt, verpasst vielleicht sein Leben.Vier Jahrzehnte Bandgeschichte. I'm an EA who has been trying to find ways to make animal suffering more salient. I've been working on a feature-length documentary called ‘The Dying Trade' for the last 5 years and I've just released it on YouTube. I'm sharing it here for two reasons: firstly, because I hope it can become a useful resource that advocates share with others as an introduction to animal ethics; and secondly, because strong engagement in the early days will help YouTube recommend the film to more people, increasing its impact. Trailer: Full film: About the film Jack is a vegan activist. His father is a slaughterhouse worker. After years of avoiding the subject, Jack sets out to confront the unspoken tension between them. This intimate and contemplative documentary follows a son's attempt to understand his father - and the industry that stands between them. I didn't really want to make a documentary about my relationship with my father. At times, it was quite uncomfortable. For the last 8 years or so, I've been trying to increase the salience of animal suffering, primarily through producing videos on my YouTube channel: Humane Hancock. And one thing has always been [...] --- First published: May 13th, 2026 Source: https://forum.effectivealtruism.org/posts/NkXb6hP38MReioe6Z/my-dad-worked-in-a-slaughterhouse-i-made-a-documentary-about --- Narrated by TYPE III AUDIO.

Isaac Smith joins the show in place of Damo, as the team kick things off with their favourite news headlines of the week, and a discussion around what to do about draws in footy. Isaac comes off the long run with his Slaughterhouse - listing several things that bug him while driving, then Chief has two more monologues from two classic films. A missed call by Chief had him wondering what everyone's voicemail messages sound like, then Browny asks the team when they were last genuinely scared. Isaac asks the team for some advice after a number 2 situation, Chief has a quiz about sporting nicknames, Browny and Howie both received some aggressive online feedback, and Browny's Heath Hotline looks at how to reduce phone screen time for both you and your kids. A quick look at both of tonight's games leads into some funnier moments that happened post-game last night, Rory Lobb joins the show ahead of the Dogs' clash with Freo, Browny's Top 5 heads down Nostalgia Lane, and the team wrap things up with some weekend tips.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Howie, Chief, Browny, and Damo are up and about, kicking things off with their favourite headlines from the week - including a bizarre interview with a Finnish soccer player, and the potential ramifications of BBL Privatisation. Chief's Slaughterhouse makes its grand return in 2026, as he takes down a recent ranking of the World's Best Cities. Then Jackson Warne is in studio to talk about an interview he did with a global music superstar. Howie brings back a long lost TV show to test how much the boys know about supermarket prices, and he has some mail on a recent sportsman's night featuring two Huddle members. Chief puts the boys through a sports quiz, they talk about their worst wardrobe malfunctions, and Browny's Health Hotline has a slogan - Health is Wealth. Jack Gunston's status as one of the great modern forwards leads into a debate about St Kilda's off-season recruiting, then Luke Darcy calls in to the show he once hosted - as we find out what he's been up to, and if misses the boys. Browny puts some iconic commentary on display with his top 5, and there's a been an explosive media war between two footy influencers.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Animal abuse is a predictor child abuse. Slaughterhouse locations correlate with violent crime. Over three-quarters of emerging infectious diseases trace back to how we treat animals and ecosystems. In this episode of the Public Health Insight Podcast, Dr. Hope Ferdowsian connects these patterns to a single root cause: systems built on hierarchies that reduce living beings to their financial worth. She challenges public health to stop treating symptoms, expand its moral circle beyond humans, and finally address the conditions that create disease, violence, and exploitation in the first place.References for Our Discussion◼️Phoenix Zones WebsiteGuest◼️Hope Ferdowsian, Co-Founder and President of Phoenix Zones InitiativeHost◼️ Purva Mehta, BMSc, MScProducer◼️Gordon Thane, BMSc, MPH, PMP®Production Notes◼️ Music from Johnny Harris x Tom Fox: The Music RoomLeave Us Some FeedbackIf you enjoy our podcasts, be sure to subscribe and leave us a rating on Apple Podcast or Spotify, and spread the word to your friends to help us get discovered by more people. In this episode, Noah and I speak from inside desire as it moves across fraternity, finance, philosophy, and painting—without attempting to reconcile or redeem the worlds it passes through. The conversation unfolds through Noah's experience of hazing as formative conditions of belonging, where masochism functions not as pathology but as a mechanism through which coherence, loyalty, and libidinal circulation are produced. As these structures are named, art and philosophy enter as parallel economies—fields that carry their own disciplines, devotions, and sacrifices, even as they often refuse to acknowledge the violence implicit in their formation. Drawing on Bataille and Deleuze we attempt to allow theory to act as pressure within the speaking itself, expanding the limits on what kinds of communication are possible across language games and communal worlds. This episode holds tension as something that acts—allowing incompatible economies of desire to brush up against one another without purification, refusal, or narrative closure.---Noah Louis Trapolino (b. 1998) is a self taught artist with an emphasis in erotic figuration based in Brooklyn, NY. Noah was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and is the eldest of eight siblings.Studying finance and philosophy at the University of Texas in Austin, Trapolino pursued art as a way to bridge the gap between two seemingly distinct fields of academia; desire as an absent center for each would manifest in his art. He has continued to study the overlap of such worlds through a part time research program in political-theology, which informs his works.--This episode features sonic art produced by V 0:00-1:30 a reading from "In the Slaughterhouse of Love" by Ken Hollings, essays on George Bataille in the Penguin Edition of a compilation of My Mother, Madame Edwarda, The Dead Man16:25-17:21 a reading from "In the Slaughterhouse of Love" by Ken Hollings, essays on George Bataille in the Penguin Edition of a compilation of short stories; My Mother, Madame Edwarda, The Dead Man by George Bataille32:34-33:34 a reading from Story of the Eye by George Bataille1:16:10-1:16:37 a reading from Story of the Eye by George Bataille1:28:35-1:30:48 a reading from Variations on the Right to Remain Silent by Anne Carson 1:53:19-fin a reading from Story of the Eye by George BatailleAll readings accompanied by manipulated fragments of Sound made by V: Againstfixedrep--------------------Support Noah --> www.pen-keeper.comMimbres School for Humanities --> www.mimbres.orgAcid Horizons --> acidhorizonpodcast.comSupport V --> https://saturnvox.comSupport the Show --> https://ko-fi.com/saturnvox156
A comedian says he is not guilty of allegedly making death threats against Stanislaus County Supervisor Channce Condit last month. Comedian Anthony Krayenhagen pleaded not guilty last Friday to charges of making threats against an elected official, making a threat not related to someone being a public official and harassment via electronic devices. A Bay Area animal rights activist in a high-profile trial involving the theft of chickens will have to serve time in jail. A judge has sentenced a 23-year-old Zoe Rosenberg to a hybrid sentence of 90 days in jail. She will serve 30 days in jail and become eligible for jail alternatives for the final 60 days. Rosenberg made national headlines for taking four chickens from Perdue Farm's Slaughterhouse in Petaluma in 2023. Texas can use a redrawn congressional map that adds as many as five Republican-friendly seats, the supreme court has ruled, giving Donald Trump and the GOP a major win in their push to add Republican congressional seats ahead of next year’s midterm elections.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today we bring you a show taped live at the CURE 2025 National Clergy Summit in Washington, D.C., at the iconic Willard Hotel—where history meets destiny just two blocks from the White House. The voice you're about to hear belongs to the Honorable Janice Rogers Brown, a judicial titan who rose from segregated Alabama to the California Supreme Court and then to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, confirmed in a 56–43 Senate showdown that still echoes in conservative lore. She retired in 2017 as one of the sharpest originalist minds of her era, a Bradley Prize laureate, and the author of the explosive 2024 essay *"Bread and Stones,"* which declares the Supreme Court's 1873 *Slaughter-House* decision turned the 14th Amendment's promise of liberty into a stone of oppression for Black Americans and every citizen since. But forget the résumé—this is no dusty lecture. Judge Brown steps to the Willard podium and delivers a sermon that feels like a lightning strike. She opens with a kindergarten story about a boy who draws God in ten minutes, then pivots to a chilling diagnosis: America has fallen from "city on a hill" to a meteorite streaking into the abyss, its light fading in a culture drunk on power and contemptuous of the Creator who once defined our equality. She quotes Ken Burns calling the American Founding the second greatest event in human history, then sharpens the blade: it only matters because the Founders tethered equality to God, not human whim. Calvin Coolidge's 1926 warning rings through her words—"If all men are created equal, that is final"—and anyone who denies it is marching backward into tyranny. She resurrectes the "black regiment" of colonial preachers whose pulpits birthed the Revolution, then warns today's clergy: you are the last line before Canadian-style arrests for preaching biblical sexuality. California already fines citizens $250,000 for refusing to call a man "she," and the First Amendment's right to silence is dead under SOGI laws. Congress flipped from defending marriage in 1996 to codifying *Obergefell* in 2022, proving we are not the people who sustained liberty for 250 years. On campuses, students chant "Don't tell me facts!" and declare objective truth a Euro-West weapon to silence the oppressed—Isaiah's lament that "truth has fallen in the streets" has never felt more urgent. Yet rebellion, she insists, isn't ignorance; it's defiance. We know right from wrong because it's written on our hearts. The rainbow flag isn't about tolerance—it's about forcing celebration to quiet guilty consciences. She closes with Martin Luther King's dream, updated for our moment: dissatisfied until no one shouts white power, black power, or trans power, but God's power and human power. "We've messed this up so badly no human can fix it," she says, voice steady with hope, "but that ain't all we got." If you're a pastor, parent, or patriot who still believes America's founding was a spiritual revolution worth fighting for, this is your battle cry. Judge Brown doesn't just diagnose the darkness—she hands you the torch. Sit down, press play, and bring the salt. The culture's tomatoes are already flying.
