This podcast will focus on all the fashion experts and channels you should follow, listen and watch to increase your fashion education. Fashion has always been viewed as elitist and a preserve for the chosen few. With the growth of social media, fashion has become more open and less guarded as to what goes on behind the scenes in this highly coveted and glamorous (or not) industry. There are now numerous podcasts, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts and fashion films that explore different aspects of fashion. This has created a wealth of online resources and information accessible to virtually anyone but more so specifically for those interested in fashion. This podcast will focus on equipping you with the resources that will help you to increase your knowledge on the fashion industry without having to attend fashion school. Minus of course the actual technical skills of designing. P.S. If want to be a fashion designer kindly go to fashion school. Knowledge is power and I am happy to share with you these resources. Whether you are curious about fashion, a lover and admirer of fashion or even thinking about a career in fashion this is the podcast for you.
On this 20 minute episode, host Michelle Gibson invites you to reflect on the past two 2020 Fashion Months including the runway creations from both Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. On this listening journey you will also gain an educated perspective of the fashion industry by first learning about the interesting History of Fashion Week. Going back in time to 1830 before “live models” and traveling forward to the runways we anticipate in present day. As Photographer Maria Valentino stated “a show is like an essay, a designer's opinion, written in fabric on the body, in a given time period." As time goes on, fashion shows are becoming ever more spectacular, but the looming reality of sustainability is at the forefront. Is there a way to maintain the creativity and excitement of Fashion Week without producing harm to the planet? This episode also acknowledges that the 3 the main factors affecting Fashion trend forecasting: include season, market intelligence, and consumer research. The cycle of trends starting with the Designers who launch the biggest trends. Then moving on to the Retailer that stocks the runway trends, and lastly spreads to Mass Market by the Celebrities … who are early adopters. Yet, as we are all curious to know, how do these Designers spot these trends first? Luckily, within this episode you will be pleasantly gifted with 6 Tips on How to Spot Fashion Trends as suggested from Juliet Warkentin the former content director for WGSN, and former editor in chief of Marie Claire (U.K.); Transitioning into the detail listing of the 20 Womenswear Fashion Week Trends to Experiment with in 2020 based on some of the most coveted Fashion Designers of the industry and a runway synopsis sourced from Vogue Magazine. Concluding with leaving the listeners with one final gem being, How to Define Your Personal Style because after all as quoted by style icon Rihanna, “you will never be stylish, unless you take risk!” While sharing tips for how to assess one’s own closest, Gibson urges the listener to experiment with fashion, have fun, and embrace the idea of “uniform” or “signature style” dressing. This concise 20 minute iFashion podcast episode on Trends is recommended as a chance to be entertained during your routine commute or quarantine woes, while simultaneously learning something new about fashion.
The years go by for every single human being, so why there is still a refusal on dealing in a chill way with this fact? In this episode, we discuss the super important right to feeling fabulous at any stage of our lives!
We see it all around us more and more everyday…why are people dressing like your parents in 1994? Why are we repeating trends that we thought we got rid of for good? Is fashion consistently always recycling trends? There’s no right or wrong answer, but me and my fellow fashion students sat down and had a chat about why we think we are on a global rewind with fashion and what we think the major influencing factor on why kids (and even adults) these days are reliving a time they weren’t even born in or a time that they miss. Even walking into urban outfitters feels like a time capsule these days I mean they even have cassette tapes? Who even uses those anymore? We talk about the music, the films and the subcultures that influenced us as kids and teenagers and talk about the different times that we grew up in to try to find an answer why old trends are resurfacing and how somethings that once used to be underground are now mainstream through mass marketing and mass communication in our global economy. Join me and my friends, Andressa and Edie, as we jump into the DeLorean (raise your hand if you’re a Back to the Future fan) and go back in time to discuss our opinions and our own experiences with living in an era that is longing to be another and hey maybe we might even convince you that it’s okay to buy that fanny pack or those tiny glasses, everyone else is doing it anyway right?Go on, click and the link and join us on a trip down memory lane, the fashion trends edition!
