1. Risk Management Framework Components:- Risk Culture - Established by board and management, sets tone from top- Risk Appetite - Formal statements and limits that define acceptable risk levels- Risk Management System - Including the three lines of defense2. Risk Appetite:- Should be commensurate with institution's size and complexity- Must be supported by capital levels- Requires clear metrics and reporting systems- Needs documented processes for when limits are approached or breached- Should be consistently communicated throughout organization3. Three Lines of Defense:- First Line: Front-line business units conducting transactions and operations- Second Line: Risk management department (in larger institutions) led by Chief Risk Officer- Third Line: Internal audit function testing controls and verification4. Key Risk Management Principles:- Risk management culture is foundational to effectiveness- Smaller institutions can accomplish goals without full three lines structure- Need to avoid managing risks in silos- Importance of aggregating risks across organization- Chief Risk Officer role should support but not have veto power5. Best Practices:- Document and communicate risk appetite clearly- Establish appropriate metrics and reporting- Have action plans for when limits are approached- Ensure staff feels comfortable raising risk concerns- Maintain independence of risk oversight functions6. Resources Available:- OCC Director's Reference Guide contains useful guidance on risk governance- Includes questions to consider and potential red flags- Contains comprehensive references on risk and corporate governanceThe episode emphasized that while sophistication levels vary by institution size, core risk management concepts remain consistent and should be applied appropriately based on each credit union's specific circumstances.

Send us a Text Message. This is the final episode--sort of*--of a multi-part series about medieval adultery in literature, history, and popular culture. My co-host Professor Larissa 'Kat' Tracey and I review how adultery has been dealt with in movies about the Middle Ages. We begin with three Hollywood medieval epics, "The Kingdom of Heaven," "Braveheart," and "The Last Duel," and then turn to the focus of our previous episodes, movies about Lancelot and Guinevere and Tristan and Iseult.*I will be posting a short episode on the film adaptation of Sigrid Undset's Nobel Prize winning novel Kristin Lavransdatter. That really will be our last word on medieval adultery. This episode includes sound clips  from the following movies:"Kingdom of Heaven" (2006), dir. This week we welcome Robert Blochinger, Mickey Lee and Dr. Ralph Moon for the Moisture Mob – Flooring Panel Grand Finale.  The Moisture Mob series has been quite the learning experience. Today we wrap up the flooring panel and dive into how moisture affects various types of flooring. Bob Blochinger will discuss his take on how concrete chemistry affects flooring and Dr. Ralph Moon will go over his recent research on how different types of flooring are affected by moisture issues. Mickey Lee will weigh in on his lessons learned from over 30 years in the industry. Bob Blochinger was raised in New York City, working in the family construction business. He moved to Florida for college, majoring in business management and worked seasonally in the hospitality industry. Bob began his career in the flooring industry in 1970, offering carpet cleaning and installations while specializing in water and fire damage restoration work. In the early 1980's he expanded into the retail department store sector providing installation of floor covering sales. During the 1990's his company started to service the architectural and interior design trade with high-end floor covering product sales and installations for residential, commercial and industrial applications. In 1990, Bob attended Southern Tech GA, specializing in technical training for carpet manufacturing and inspection. This started his career in forensic review of floor covering products that have a negative impact on performance, appearance and/or use. He is a multi-discipline flooring consultant. Bob also works as an expert witness, inspector and investigator for law firms, condominium associations and flooring manufacturers. He consults for flooring projects on bid package formatting and review, installation supervision and maintenance procedures. Bob's oversight consultation assignments often require moisture testing of concrete for public works projects and private corporations tracking major installations from the retail store to the manufacturing facility. Ralph Moon, PhD is a Building Scientist with more than 42 years of consulting experience in the areas of duration of loss studies, material testing, risk assessment, project management, industrial hygiene, and indoor air quality assessment. Dr. Moon has published over 60 peer reviewed and 40 technical articles and papers and is a frequent expert witness on insurance-related claims and projects. Dr. Moon has a unique background that combines extensive field experience, seminar development and presentations, research, and legal services in IAQ, building science and disaster restoration. Mickey Lee is currently a private consultant providing consulting, training, research and writing services in the fields of property damage restoration, psychrometrics, drying science, mold remediation and structural drying after water intrusions. Mr. Lee retired from the Munters Corp (US) in 2011 after serving in various roles for over 20 years. At various points Mr. Lee was Vice-President – Global Technology & Sustainability for Munters AB – MCS and Global and National Technical & Training Manager for Munters Corp (US). He was responsible for training program development, curriculum writing and course facilitation in addition to managing projects for structural drying and restoration of commercial buildings of every type. He also has extensive experience in application of air treatment technology in restorative drying projects, corrosion-control methods, mold mitigation and humidity control in commercial and industrial facilities while working with Munters Corporation – Moisture Control Services Division. Recognizing his vast experience in water damage restoration the IICRC asked him to lead the development of their Commercial Drying Specialist certification. This program completed its' full roll-out in 2009 and continues to be a popular offering. Mr. Lee continues to serve as committee chair for the Commercial Drying Specialist Certification program and also serves on the IICRC S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration revision committee. This episode addresses the January 10, 2022 changes to the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Service's Workers' Compensation Medicare Set-Aside Arrangement Reference Guide, Version 3.5 and applies to all jurisdictions where “full-and-final” settlements (including future medical exposure) are allowed. The Set Aside Reference Guide was updated on January 10, 2022 to state that Medicare no longer gives “non submit” set aside allocations the same deference as “submitted and approved” set aside allocations. This will have a big impact on workers' compensation settlements. This is new and conflicts with other guidance issued by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Service regarding both required pre-approval and the review thresholds. We explain and discuss the following: What the carriers/self-insured obligations are under the Medicare as Secondary payer Act (the “Act”). The options available to carriers and self-insured who want to remain in compliance with the Act. The costs and tradeoffs between the various options for remaining in compliance with the Medicare as Secondary Payer Act. The legal precedence and authority that CMS has and explains the litigation risks of various methods of compliance. The contradictions inherent in the new Reference Guide which makes compliance with the new guidance impossible in some situations. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:2-4).Comment:Jesus said not if you give alms, but when you give alms.We are not to trumpeting our piety.Hypocrites: hypokritēs literally meant a play-actor. People who trumpet their almsgiving are only pretending to care about the poor. There is a reward in heaven for giving alms, but not when we do this to impress others. The words about the left hand and the right hand are metaphorical (like cutting off the hand in Matt 5:30). The focus is on the heart, not the hand. Our giving should, as much as possible, be in secret (private).HistoryA great source for the views of the early church is A Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs. These gifts also help those who have suffered shipwreck. And if there happens to be any of us in the mines, banished to the islands, or shut up in the prisons—for no reason other than their faithfulness to the cause of God's Church—they are supported because of their confession.” Apology (ANF 3.46).Lactantius informs us thatChristians also paid to ransom their brothers from barbarian raiders and to bury the poor, including abandoned strangers. Lactantius, Divine Institutes (ANF 7.177).Julian the Apostate (the pagan Roman emperor of the 360s), in a private letter to friend: “Why then do we think our meagerness is sufficient? Do we not observe the kindness of Christians to strangers, their care for the burial of their dead, and the seriousness of their lifestyle? Do we not see how this has done the most to advance their cause? …The godless Galileans do not only take care of their own poor but of ours as well!” Julian the Apostate, Letter to ArsaciusMiddle ages: It was believed that almsgiving wiped out sins. (See Tobit 12:9.)Reformation (1500s+): Luther overreacted and ended up creating a new gospel where righteous deeds and obedience play no role in salvation. Luther diluted what Jesus taught about almsgiving.Today: "Tithing" (an OT practice, not practiced by the early church as it is not commanded in the NT) is preached in today's churches. Almsgiving, sadly, usually is not. Is this for fear that giving to the poor might compete with building programs, staff salaries, and various financial drives? What's the take-away?Give to the poor.Give discreetly. No hoopla / try not to tell others what you've done, particularly others who don't need to know.Intend to give—plan for it. (Keep on hand money, food, or clothing, so that when you are asked you can give.)Donate to an organization you trust.Study what the NT says about giving. Notice especially how much emphasis is given to helping the needy, as compared to other financial causes.Tomorrow: Prayer

About four years ago, on a Sunday morning, our pastor offered to give anyone in the congregation who requested one, a prophetic word that God had uniquely given him for that person. Buzz's word was “cease”. He looked up the word “cease” in his exhaustive concordance, and one verse stood out and that was Psalm 46:10: “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The word “cease” here is the Hebrew raphah, and the primary root meaning is to sink, relax, abandon, become helpless. The King James, NIV & NLT Versions say, “Be still, and know that I am God” Buzz grew up learning a life of performance-based-acceptance. When you live a life of performance in order to feel and receive love, your current achievement is never enough. Even if you perform well one day, there is always the expectation placed on you by yourself and others of your next performance assignment. It's like running on a hamster wheel. It never ends and never gets you anywhere. Except if you stop or fail or fall short you feel like a failure. So the word “cease” is a powerful one for me. All my life I had been striving. This verse speaks to me that I needed to stop all my performance-based efforts and striving in an attempt to earn approval and love. I needed to “cease”. And you know what? It feels really good to cease striving. Don't forget the next six words in the verse- “and know that I am God”. In all my performing I can act like I am God. One way I try to be God is to try to control my life and everyone's around me instead of letting God be in control, because He already is in control. I'm not. Carol's word was “life”. Life is living matter and, as such, matter that shows certain attributes that include responsiveness, growth, metabolism, energy transformation, and reproduction. Although a noun, as with other defined entities, the word life might be better cast as a verb to reflect its essential status as a process. There are two types of life: Physical (living) and Eternal Life (salvation). Let's talk about physical life. In her journey to find health, I learned that some foods have life and others have more death. In Dr. Fuhrman's books “Eat to Live” and “Nutritarian Handbook & Andi Food Scoring Guide”, he give scores which he calls the Andi Food Score, to the nutrient values of food based on the levels of life it contains. For instance, kale has the highest Andi score of 1,000 where as air popped popcorn has an Andi score of 14. In the book “Reference Guide for Essential Oils” by Connie and Alan Higley, they share that everything has an electrical frequency. Bruce Taino of Taino Technology in Cheney, Washington, developed new equipment to measure the bio frequency of humans and foods. He and D. Gary Young used this bio frequency to determine the relationship between frequency and disease. Another very interesting result of these studies was the influence that thoughts have on our frequency as well. Negative thoughts lowered the measured frequency and positive thoughts raised the measured frequency. It was also found that prayer and meditation increased the measured frequency levels. Not only is there life or death in the food we eat but also in the words we speak. In the book “The body keeps the score”, by Bessel Van Der Kolk M.D. shares how recent scientific advances show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers' capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust. Trauma can happen through the words we speak to one another. Our belief system is important. We believe in God and His FREE gift of salvation and eternal life. Carol has suffered for many years with depression and suicidal thoughts. God want's her to choose life so she can live and do great things for Him. When suicidal thoughts come to her, she has learned to stop and say, “Carol that is a lie from the enemy who wants to destroy and deceive you.” She then makes a choice to believe God's truths (see below): Proverbs 4:20-22 “My daughter, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their whole body.” Proverbs 4:23 “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” Matthew 6:25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing?” John 3:16 “For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies,”

The Healing Power of Plant Medicine Nicole has always had a love for the outdoors. With a bug collection, a nest collection, and a rock collection, her love for outdoor medicine was fueled by her MS diagnosis. For Nicole, herbal medicine is a life saver. Her daily go to is a combination for three mushroom. Lion’s mane mushroom, also known as Hericium erinaceus, is known to boost cognitive function and stimulate Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), proteins that play a pivotal role in the development and the maintenance of neurons. Studies show great potential for myelination and regeneration of nerves. Nicole takes this (along with the Turkey Tail and Reishi Mushroom Extracts) daily as her mushroom trio. You do not have to take these three mushrooms though. Nicole has been taking her anxiety blend as well daily as well as an added elderberry boost. For preventing general illness (which causes the dreaded immune response that then causes MS to flare up) I rely on my healing trinity of Elderberry Tincture, Usnea Spray, and All-Purpose (First Aid) Salve. This lesson is 433 words, a 1 min 43 sec reading time. It is the second lesson of Lunch 2.0. 📍 Introduction: The ultimate comfort food, a tuna salad sandwich is both practical and delicious. Packed with protein and ~$2/serving, this lightning-fast meal is exceptionally high leverage. As tuna is shelf-stable, it’s helpful to have a few cans on hand for those lunches or dinners when you don’t have much in the fridge. Given its neutral flavors, it can serve as a canvas for a wide range of unique combinations. Go ahead and get creative! 🧂Ingredients: *See reference guide below for inspirationTuna Base (e.g., bread, lettuce wrap) Additions (e.g., crunchy, creamy, salty) Toppings (e.g., tangy, aromatic) ✅ Instructions: Gather all ingredients. Combine all tuna salad elements slowly (e.g., 1 tsp at a time). Taste regularly.  If using bread, toast in a pan & add butter towards the end. (Optional) Assemble sandwich. 📝 Notes Tips & TricksTuna salad makes for a great snack (e.g., with crackers), lunch (as a sandwich), or dinner (e.g., decadent tuna melt on gourmet bread with a side of soup.) Chop everything as finely as possible to encourage the melding of flavors.  Water-packed tuna is lower in calories but higher in omega 3s than tuna packed in oil. To use, drain the water.Oil-packed tuna has more flavor and is higher in caloric value. Mayonnaise quality has a significant impact on flavor. Use the highest quality you can find (or make some). No-salt canned is best. If you can’t find it, rinse the tuna out for a few minutes to reduce the sodium. Try to seek out sustainably-caught, dolphin-free tuna.📓 Reference Guide 🗂 Example Recipe: Sicilian-Style Tuna Sandwich Tuna salad: Tuna  Dill (or dill weed)Lemon juice  Salt & pepper Olive oil (or mayo) Base & Additions: BreadButter Arugula B&B pickles 🎓 Further StudyHow to Boil an Egg [Life School]Pickled Red Onion [Life School]Green Goddess Tuna Salad Sandwich [Bon Appetite]How to Make Mayonnaise [YouTube] Mayonnaise [NY Times]——— 📚 Want more? You don’t need any fancy gear, everything goes into one container, and the combinations are limitless. Get creative and bring a straw! 🎨⚙️ Gear Blender (🛒: $$, $$$) Straw - optional (🛒: $)🍓 Ingredient Inspiration:   *For a printable version, check out the Smoothies Reference Guide.* Fruit: banana, berries, mango, pineapple, peach, kiwiLiquid/Dairy: milk, nut milk (e.g., almond, cashew, macadamia), juice (e.g., orange, apple), coconut water  Vegetables/herbs: spinach, beets, carrots, kale, sweet potato, pumpkin, basil, mint, ginger Sweetness: honey, agave, banana, dates, chocolate  Supplements: protein powder (example #1 & 2), fiber (example), collagen (example) Superfoods: Acai, cacao, bee pollen, chia/flax/hemp seeds, matcha, turmeric, goji berries, spirulina Misc: peanut/almond butter, silken tofu, avocado, dried coconut✅ Instructions Add liquid (~1 cup/serving) Add frozen fruit (~1 cup/serving) Add veggies/additions Blend, serve, enjoy! 📝 Notes, Tips & Tricks: Add liquid first to avoid straining the blade and motor. Relatedly, chop or break up large pieces of fruit before freezing (e.g., banana) If the mixture is too thick and the motor is struggling, add some water. If you have fruit on the brink of becoming too ripe, chop and freeze in a zip bag for future smoothies. To make a smoothie bowl, reduce liquid, add toppings, and bring a spoon.Ice makes smoothies frosty but dilutes flavor; use strategically. Some high-end blenders can be found refurbished at a lower cost (example) If you are using spinach/kale as a base and want the smoothie to be bright green, avoid adding red/purple fruits (e.g., berries) or it will turn brown. Protein powders, collagen & fiber add heft but can make the texture a bit grainy. Use in moderation.📓 Reference Guide🎓 Further Study So Many Smoothies, So Little Time [NYTimes]The Best Blender for 2020 [Wirecutter]The Best Protein Powders [NYMag]Smoothie Ingredients: The Ultimate List——————————————————🙋‍♀️ Got feedback? Fill out this form. (This helps make us better 😀)🎧 Prefer to listen? Nick Knight Podiatrist talks to Dr. Justin Trosclair DC on A Doctor's Perspective Podcast. Deep dive into MSK sports podiatry with Nick Knight. What is plantar plate injury, how do you treat MSK as a podiatrist, clinical research, 3d gait analysis, zero gravity treadmills, and his love of field hockey. A fresh look at what you can specialize in. Podiatry was not his first idea for a profession but from being excluded from the military and physical therapy Nick picked it.  Luckily, there is a whole aspect/ specialty of sports based – MSK based podiatry and he just fell in love with that aspect of the profession and now wouldn't change his career. He spent a lot of time shadowing MSK doctors during university and purposing choose jobs that were musculoskeletal focused.  Knight and his wife are huge field hockey players so he would much rather treat sport injuries than tackle diabetic ulcers all day. When are custom orthotics appropriate compared to a High Quality over the counter version? How long does he typically have people wear orthotics? Nick Knight's most common condition is forefoot pain, particularly the plantar plate. I ask him to walk us through a typical treatment protocol. Most podiatrists focus on the plantar fascia and heel area so tune in to the forefoot answer.   Knight, DPM will also discuss how he is publishing his findings for conservative treatment for plantar plate injuries because for now the research is heavy on surgical interventions. His research is finding that the techniques used can get people back to running and not re-injuring the area. Problem is about 40% can have a plantar plate injury and not have symptoms. However 10 years later do they have issues like a hammer toe? Nick, sports podiatrist, gives us 3 powerful stories of how his treatment allowed patients to walk in their wedding after an Achilles' rupture, walk pain free on vacations and stroke recovery. Reasons to talk more functional improvements instead of pain focused with your patients. Realize that people expect to lose functional mobility as they age and that doesn't have to be the case. Also don't underestimate the need to handle realistic expectations. What are his thoughts on weightless AlterG zero gravity Treadmills?  Who benefits from zero gravity treadmills? A Few signs to look out for when getting a 3D foot and running gait analysis to know if you are getting a good or bad assessment.  Watching the foot vs the foot and knee, do they talk about over pronation, or do they immediately try to sell you an insert to straighten you up. Podiatry in the UK is working hard to produce more evidence based research, why is that? How do we get more research outside of the NHS because you miss a lot of types of patients if you don't? Once again we hear that hiring the right staff should focus on personal skills and how they line up with your brand because the clinical or office skills can all be taught. His marketing is highly geared to talking to other doctors in his area and facebook ads. In fact, he doesn't even track the return on investment of his facebook ads, find out why? He and his wife love playing field hockey and he shares some stories about how the passion for the sport has strengthened their marriage. www.nksportspodiatry.co.uk Twitter: @NKSportsPod Facebook: NK Sports Podiatry Gary Vaynerchuk, Lisa Sanders , Shoe Dog, Kiddiecare and Neville Wright Show notes can be found at https://adoctorsperspective.net/124 here you can also find links to things mentioned and the full transcript. Dr. Mohammed Rimawi DPM talks to Dr. Justin Trosclair DC on A Doctor's Perspective Podcast. Dr. Mohammed Rimawi DPM discusses being an academic new grad and how to differentiate yourself. He specializes in surgical cases, sport injury, plantar fascitis and ankle sprains. What's the best Instagram style and the skinny on barefoot running. What fascinated Dr. Rimawi about orthopedics were the surgery cases but luckily he realized he could do the same foot surgeries (which he loves) by becoming a podiatrist. He has his residency training in foot and ankle trauma as well as elective and reconstructive cases. We discuss some of the ‘turf wars' that orthos and podiatrist have in New York and in general. We also give an overview of their education and training plus advice for students getting started or deciding if podiatry could be a career for them.  What's the job outlook for modern day podiatrists? The bonus of having a doctor less than a year out of residency is we get the ‘student ideal' versus the ‘real world' clash.  For instance, he is super trained in trauma surgery of the foot but in practice you need to be proficient in all these other areas of podiatry because other doctors and the potential patients don't realize you are the go to doc for foot trauma. Dr. Mohammed gives us reasons as well as treatment options for plantar fascitis and ankle sprains from sport injury, including why see a podiatrist first. A big concern is handling outcome expectations on the first visit. When would you consider an MRI vs X-ray for an ankle sprain? He has a good example to show young athletes why they may need to take more time off their sport than they would have expected. Advice for students: you are not alone. We see divorce during finals week, babies being born and more during some of the most already stressful times in life: doctor school.  Don't ignore your mental health and find ways to avoid burnout and physician suicide. Reach out to colleagues with patient case questions when the need arises. Don't stay on the island of your clinic. All the training, degrees, and academic know how is fantastic, but after a short 7 months into the real world – Dr. Rimawi is already aware that patients don't care. How has he handled that truth and how has that influenced his marketing. What marketing is working for him? Does he post Instagram photos of cases and surgery? What are his thoughts, should you post gross pictures or just keep it educational and academic? Remember some of the video educational based Instagram accounts have dedicated staff and money to make these pieces, it's not thrown together. Time – Patience – Money = ingredients to making high quality educational videos Set meaningful expectations and accomplish them one by one. Do patients assume every doctor is created equal and therefore it's all about the marketing you present to them so they pick you over someone else? Does barefoot training or the minimalist shoes do what they claim and are they healthy for your feet? (Dr. Rimawi also gives advice on how to start using it if you really really want to… Hint: avoiding stress fractures might be a great idea.) What unique idea does he have about work life balance but particular school and life balance since he is sub 1 year out? What's more impressive the 3.7 GPA or the 3.0 GPA who raised two kids during school? Dr. Peter Wishnie, DPM talks to Dr. Justin Trosclair DC on A Doctor's Perspective Podcast. How to answer the phone correctly, adding services, taking more vacation, why write a book, what is a rainmaker day and more are answered by certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach, Dr. Peter Wishnie Podiatrist of Top Practices. His love for instant gratification (as in you don't have to wait a week for the medicine to kick in) is why he choose to focus on athletes in his podiatry practice.  They come in with pain and leave feeling better. Who are the podiatry biggest competitor? He does answer this and he also suggests the sooner we all start appreciating what each profession can do for the foot, the better care and outcomes patients in your community will achieve. Even though these big conglomerate hospitals pass referrals to other doctors in their facility, it's ultimately up to the patient to pick who they want.  Make sure you are marketing and making yourself trustworthy and the expert in your area. Phone scenario: what do most doctors have a fear about?  I don't take insurance, what makes me stand out and so on? Number 1 mistake doctor office reception employee makes immediately upon answering the phone. 3 Ways to make that WOW impression over the phone. You have to build a rapport quickly on the phone. What are the best way to collect copays and deductibles? Treat the patient, don't treat them based on what podiatry insurance will pay for? If the patients' needs a service, explain to them the why and cost and let them make that decision, don't make it for them. I don't give people more than they need… give them exactly what they need when they need it, no matter what. What type of services can someone offer to make more money? Ethically of course! Do you ghost write books or encourage people to write them and why? Marketing opportunities with an ebook, this might surprise you.  One is a drip email because at 13 weeks he finds people finally pick up the phone and ask for an appointment. What is a rainmaker day? When should someone implement that one day off? How do we stay focused on high level tasks for the rainmaker day? Remember to work 50 -60 minutes and then take a break and then switch to a new task.  We tend to use the excuse: I just don't have time.  Dr. Peter busts that by saying, You Need to delegate tasks to other peoples…stop micromanaging. Why is his daily affirmation recently been, Things Come Easy To Me. Dr. Wishnie also gives us a tactic on how to take two weeks off from work without destroying your bank account. Happy Family Life Tip: Don't take a happy marriage for granted. Also, we many roles in life (father, husband, friend, CEO etc) and we need to schedule time for all of them. It's not all about You. Dave James, Podiatrist talks to Dr. Justin Trosclair DC on A Doctor's Perspective Podcast Take Dave James Podiatrist video creation conversation as a personal challenge to get a jump start on local community influence. Why make videos, ideas for content, establishing a niche and podiatry procedures that are tech driven and great results. His journey to becoming a podiatrist started with his own injuries as well as two other medical type career choices before finally deciding on podiatry. After 3 different degrees and certifications and getting a master in biomechanics and being in healthcare for 25 years with 8 years in private practice, he decided to sell his clinic. Some people are born learners and educators and it takes time for them to finally carve out their niche to share with others… I think Dave James is one of those types. He offered some services that you may not have heard of. We get his explanation on: swift microwave therapy, clearnail (micro-penetration), Swift Microwave treatment is for skin issues like plantar warts and it helps create heat and micro inflammation and then after 3-4 treatments the body heals and although it is slightly painful, the downtime is minimal. Clearnail is micro-penetration of the nail bed so you can inject medicine underneath the nail bed and really get rid of the nail fungus. Which is better than the medicine which can cause liver and kidney issues as well as mess up your sense of taste. What is Foot Mobilization Techniques (FMT) and does it have an effect in a podiatry office? If you think it's a joint manipulation like a chiropractor delivers than you are accurate. They tend to use it for pain modulation of stiff joints, old scars and plantar fasciitis (especially with a loading protocol). His own path of personal development sparked a passion to want to see other people get out of their own way. Danny Clarke encouraged him to start doing videos. Dave realized he had a knack for video and the more he does them the more comfortable and enjoyable they are for him to film and edit. You could say the Foot Magician's niche market is teaching doctors about social media, particularly being on video like YouTube and Facebook live, but being your authentic self so patients can know you As You and not just stuffy podiatrist. Yes, your first video will probably be embarrassing, but keep at it. Do two 2 minute videos for 14 days. Can you imagine the impact if you could have all the podiatrists or your doctor specialty all promoting the same one condition per month on your social media accounts by video. Maybe it's a really good infographic but you don't agree with a portion of it. Instead of saying, I won't share it, you could write how you like ABC but not XYZ and here is why. I know “what to do” for practice growth, but are you “doing it?” Should you be afraid to raise your rates? Should you price yourself close to everyone else, higher than or just concern yourself with the value you provide? How do we provide more value? Mark Twain “what other people think about you is none of your business.” Even though our work week and obligations may keep us busy and not bored, we have to remember that our family time is important and they want a real holiday too. Books: Gary Vandyrchuk, Malcolm Gladwell, Jim Rohn, They Ask You Answer - Marcus Sheridan, plus many podiatrists that have their own expertise.
