We're kicking off the Fall/Winter 2025 season of OnWriting with a roundtable conversation between screenwriters Nia DaCosta, Benny Safdie and Will Tracy, who sat down to discuss their latest projects, the writing process, and more. Nia DaCosta is the writer and director of Hedda, a provocative, modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen's classic play in which the titular Hedda Gabler finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Benny Safdie is the writer and director of The Smashing Machine, the true story of mixed martial arts and UFC fighter Mark Kerr, whose obsession with greatness made him a legend — and nearly cost him everything. Will Tracy is the writer of Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, in which two conspiracy-obsessed men kidnap the CEO of a major company when they become convinced that she's an alien who wants to destroy Earth. --- Read shownotes, transcripts, and other member interviews: wgaeast.org/onwriting Follow the Guild on social media: @WGAEast OnWriting is a production of the Writers Guild of America East. From Goodwill to runway glam, this week's episode of Wisdom from the Wardrobe kicks off with a viral fashion fairytale. Designer Evan Hursh turned a thrift-store dress into custom couture and set off a chain reaction of upcycled elegance, proving that sustainable fashion and style creativity are a match made in Goodwill heaven. After plenty of "oh wow" moments and DIY daydreams, the team trades dresses for designer soles as we take a deep dive into this season's Fall/Winter 2025 shoe trends for both men and women. On the menswear front: loafers are still having their (80-year!) moment, split-toe shoes are splitting opinions, and sleek Chelsea and cowboy boots are riding in hot. Bonus: the dad sneaker is officially stepping back in favor of its "slimmer, chicer cousin." Ladies, lace up! Derby shoes and brogues are making a statement, red and brown suede is bringing the heat, and slouchy boots are back with a vengeance. And as for sky-high stilettos and studs? Let's just say the team voted studs all the way, no contest. Tune in for witty banter, game-changing inspiration, and the kind of style advice that'll have your wardrobe thanking you later. Happy Styling!

Are These Shoes Genius or Hideous? That's the question kicking off this week's episode of Wisdom from the Wardrobe! The team laces up for a lively debate over the New Balance 1906L “Snoafer”, part sneaker, part loafer, all conversation starters. Some shoes you wear, others you dissect endlessly… and you can bet the crew had opinions. Of course, Bec takes things a step further (pun intended) with a question no one saw coming; how often should you wash your feet? Let's just say this one goes straight into the “footnotes we usually ignore.” Then, it's time to strut into the Men's Fall/Winter 2025 fashion trends. From the return of sharp tailoring to leather shorts, fuzzy statement coats, “Big Pimpin'” energy, and the comeback of the cardigan, the team breaks down how men's style is mixing bold statements with refined swagger. Whether you're a style enthusiast, trend devotee, style traditionalist, or just someone curious about the snoafer heard ‘round the world, this episode walks the line between fashion forward and fabulously funny. In this episode, we begin by exploring how Prospero's magic in The Tempest reflects early modern grimoire traditions—a form of ritual magic rooted in books, incantations, and precise ceremonial practice, especailly as compared to the types of magic we discussed in our Macbeth episodes. We examine how Shakespeare's depiction of Prospero's art, Prospero's relationship with Ariel, and the creation and disappearance of the masque parallel descriptions of grimoire magical practices found in a grimoire manuscript from the late 1500s. From there, we examine how The Tempest itself mirrors the alchemical process, moving through symbolic stages of separation, purification, and reconciliation. By tracing how the structure of the play parallels the alchemist's pursuit of transformation, we uncover how Shakespeare weaves together the worlds of science, faith, and magic to create a story of power, renewal, and artful creation. Lights, cameras, color action! This week on Wisdom from the Wardrobe, we kick things off Hollywood-style with a red carpet rundown of the 2025 Emmy Awards, who wore what, which looks wowed, and the standout style moments that had our stylist team talking. From fashion hits to near misses, our “In the News” segment proves that awards season always delivers plenty of wardrobe wisdom. Then, we trade sequins for swatches and dive headfirst into the Pantone Color Institute's Fall/Winter 2025/2026 palette. Think zesty Lemon Grass, cozy Hot Chocolate, sultry Damson, fiery Poppy Red, and dreamy Lyons Blue plus the seasonless classics like French Roast and Mauve Wine. According to Pantone, these shades strike the perfect balance between casual ease and subtle elegance. But did our team agree? Was the palette muted… or more? Tune in as we unpack the palette's “poetic nuance,” debate which colors bring drama vs. snooze factor, and share stylist approved tips on what unexpected hues to pair them with. We started the show with the Mets, who had a big first inning and beat the Padres. We have 11 more games to go and the Diamondbacks are right on their heels. Gio is encouraged by last night. Boomer thought he gave up on the Mets. Gio thinks the Yankees should want to play the Astros so they can pay them back. The NFL came out and said Tom Brady is allowed to be in the Raiders' coaches' booth. Boomer has a cold already, so we set the over/under for illnesses for the show this Fall/Winter. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with something strange Al did on Monday that involves him being a ‘penis hypochondriac'. The Mets scored 5 in the first. The Yankees had a 10-1 lead and barely hung on to beat the Twins. Cal Raleigh hit his 55th and 56th home runs of the season. In the final segment of the hour, Gio has an odd story involving multiple men in a Penn Station bathroom. Gio has so many questions.

In the final segment of the hour, Gio has an odd story involving multiple men in a Penn Station bathroom. Gio has so many questions. Hour 2 The Giants play the Chiefs this week and Boomer said the Giants are going to be in for a rude awakening on offense as the Chiefs have a very good defense. The Chiefs have struggled offensively for the last 3 games. Boomer also said Brian Daboll is not getting fired during the season no matter what happens. This is actually a great time for the Giants to be playing the Chiefs. Gio said the sportsbooks are begging you to take the Giants at 5 ½. Gio thinks it's a ‘get right spot' for the Chiefs. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Yankees squeaking by the Twins after having a 10-1 lead and the Mets' big first inning as they beat the Padres. Nick Sirianni had to answer questions about his team being offside on the tush push. Dabo Swinney said if they're tired of winning, they can let him go. In the final segment of the hour, country singer Zach Bryan tried to fight another country artist, Gavin Adcock, at a festival. Hour 3 We started the hour talking about the Yankees and whether their fans want to face the Astros in the playoffs or if they are trying to avoid them. Two of our Yankees fans called and neither thought they could make it to the World Series. Boomer said the AL & NL are wide open for any playoff team to make it to the World Series. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Yankees barely beating the Twins even though they had a 10-1 lead. Francisco Lindor's wife played the National Anthem on the violin before the game. Lindor himself homered a little while later. Cal Raleigh hit 2 more home runs to make it 56 on the year. Jerry Jones was asked about the phrase, ‘glory hole'. Stephen A. Smith talked about Molly Qerim leaving ESPN. In the final segment of the hour, Gio's wife had to go into the city last night for a friend's birthday and that sounds like a nightmare. A Tuesday night Broadway show. Hour 4 Gio talked about taking a flight out of JFK and how expensive it cost to park but we still pay it because we want to get out of there. We also talked about choosing self-checkout over going to a cashier and how valet parking people are sometimes in cahoots with criminals. Jerry returns for his final update of the day, but first we hear from Cardi B as she said she and Stefon Diggs are having a baby. We heard from Pete Carroll on his relationship with Tom Brady. Brady is playing in some flag football game in Saudi Arabia. The Mets scored 5 runs in the first and beat the Padres. Evan Cedric Mullins homered. The Yankees had a 10-1 lead and then barely beat the Twins, 10-9. Cal Raleigh hit 2 more home runs making it 56 on the season. The Moment of The Day: Al had pain down there and used a mirror to find out what was wrong. In the final segment of the show, Mike Hill from Boomer's Foundation stopped by and told us about going to Burning Man.
Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma's ascent over the past few days reads like a whirlwind of historic firsts and high-wattage headlines, blending global fashion influence with undeniable music power. According to multiple outlets including Hombre1, Hola, and QueOnda, Peso Pluma has just been named the first-ever Mexican-American ambassador for New York Fashion Week by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This isn't a ceremonial title; it positions him centre stage as NYFW launches its Spring/Summer 2026 season at Rockefeller Center, joining a select cadre including club CFDA Chairman Thom Browne, mega-designers Michael Kors and Anna Sui, and co-ambassadors Young Miko and Anok Yai. Fashion insiders say his appointment marks a cultural shift—Peso Pluma is now the face of NYFW, spotlighting Latin music's growing influence beyond playlists and stadiums.Social media chatter and entertainment headlines are buzzing about his presence, as he'll be featured throughout NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center, broadcast events running September 11–16 and connecting American collections with the broader public for the first time. Peso Pluma's ambassador status comes on top of a breakout year: Hola reminds us that he's up for nine awards at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year Male, and several nominations for his album Exodo. His recent single releases, including Morena (Remix) with Tiësto and Netón Vega and Desvelada with Oscar Maydon, are pulling big streaming numbers and drawing attention for their genre-blending sound—a fusion of classic Mexican corridos, EDM, and urban pop.In fashion, Peso Pluma's style clout has been on full display. Earlier this year, he debuted at Thom Browne's Fall/Winter show in signature threads, confirming his crossover appeal as both sartorial tastemaker and pop star. Public discussion on platforms like Instagram, X, and TikTok continues to amplify his public image, with fans and fashionistas alike sharing clips of his NYFW appearances and new festival bookings. On the business front, Billboard and Telemundo confirm his role as label boss at Double P Records in partnership with George Prajin, signaling a shift toward mentorship and industry leadership. Meanwhile, previous performance visas—and those of other Latin stars—were reportedly at risk due to tightened U.S. immigration rules, as reported by KNPR, but no verified accounts indicate any recent interruption in Peso Pluma's U.S. activity. In sum, Peso Pluma's latest milestones at New York Fashion Week and his nominations at the Billboard Latin Music Awards underline a transformative moment—not just for his résumé, but for the profile of música Mexicana and Latin culture worldwide. If there's speculation, it's simply about who he'll collaborate with next or which runway he'll conquer. For now, his star is burning brighter than ever, with every headline, streaming chart, and fashion week snapshot doubling as evidence.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

To create a fashion collection, you need three key elements: silhouette, colour, material – be it for clothes or accessories. Yet these ingredients are lifeless without the discourse and the incredible stories that transform them into objects of desire. Stories told with sincerity, from Marine Serre's Lynchian ambitions to Lilia Litkovska's resolve to work while the bombs are falling; Fashion Week's top prize goes to Yohji Yamamoto for his flights of fancy.
I think you'll enjoy this week's BEHIND THE LENS and the films we are discussing, but more than that, the filmmakers and actors I'm speaking with. Some jam-packed interviews today as we kick things off with my exclusive interview with actors CLAES BANG and JONAH HAUER-KING, together with writer/director NICK HAMM talking about his beautiful epic WILLIAM TELL. And then you'll hear from writer and executive producer CHARLENE DAVIS and director/producer DAFNA YACHIN discussing their new film, RELATIVE CONTROL. This first interview is one of those times I wish we could have done the interview in person; of course, I wish that with every interview. But in this case, these three gentlemen are so much fun and have such a wonderful rapport that I know that being together in person would have been an even bigger blast than what you're about to hear. I'm talking about CLAES BANG, JONAH HAUER-KING, and NICK HAMM and their wonderful film, WILLIAM TELL. Written and directed by Nick, based on the play by Friedrich Schiller, they have beautifully married history and legend and brought it to life in an indelible epic result. Then we shift gears and dive into RELATIVE CONTROL with the women behind this gem – director DAFNA YACHIN and screenwriter CHARLENE DAVIS. As you'll hear, Charlene and Dafna break down the film from script to screen. Written by Charlene, the script – her first after a decades long career as an attorney – is based on Charlene's personal experiences – was developed over a few years and speaks to not only the challenges of caring for aging parents, but caring for yourself as time marches on and the responsibility for caring for your parents overtakes one's own life. There is some magical casting here with Teri Polo as Sara and Patrick McDade as Sara's father Joe. Their chemistry truly captures the dynamic of a daughter and father navigating complex family dynamics. While Charlene focuses more on the script, Dafna dives into Anthony Berenato Jr's cinematography, developing a visual tonal bandwidth of lightness and bright tones versus the heavier subject matter, working with editor John Knapich, and some of the production challenges which involved a 14-day shoot, the impact of the pandemic, and shooting in 100 degree Delaware heat in July and August with the film set in the Fall/Winter. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
