Today I feel... I don't know, but rubbish. So I'm rambling about it incoherently. Maybe one day someone will understand.

This episode evolved out of several others. The three audio contributions I received were placed under different headings. Then I received the anonymous contribution and it seemed to tie things together; hence “Honesty”. I can’t think of anyone who I’ve spoken to since this pandemic started who hasn’t had to change the way they think or operate. We hear from a pub landlord (who’s now become a virtual pub landlord and is supporting the community while considering the impact on his business (If you’re looking for a virtual pub try https://www.facebook.com/virtualbrookinn/ ), a retired gentleman, a mindset coach (who talks about the impact on his clients and his own mental health) and one who feels lonely as the remaining non-furloughed member of staff in a manufacturing business. I'm partial to a little exercise from time to time and follow a few related accounts on social media. I sense anxiety, quite understandably, from those who've found their livelihoods disrupted by the closure of gyms and subsequent lockdown and want to explore the impact on fitness professionals - in the first instance. How did it feel when the closure of gyms was announced? What's the financial and emotional impact? Will this change the way that clients access training and exercise in the future? How will this change the industry? How are businesses being adapted? In this episode 8 PT’s share their experiences and in a future episode I'd like to explore the impact on those whose training or exercise regime has been disrupted. (Please contact me if this is you!) This is a weird time. 2020 will definitely be remembered. My intention with these podcasts is to record and preserve people’s thoughts and feelings - without the political spin - for future generations. How are we dealing with the Coronavirus Lockdown? People share their stories and perspectives on the situation. My intention is that this will become a record of the impact of the lockdown; how it's affected us financially, mentally and socially. This is a departure from the normal Improve, Inspire, Impact podcasts (hence the new, serious, music) but these are unprecedented times. Coronavirus is certainly having an impact on us all so it fulfils one of the criteria. Episode 2 concentrates on education - from a provider's perspective, community initiatives and real peoples day to day experiences. I need more people to record their experiences to make this a truly comprehensive historical record. Can you help? It's easy to do. Just record the audio on your phone and send it to me. Beth demonstrates incredible resilience dealing with Bi-polar disorder, an eating disorder and ADHD. And yet she describes herself as being "an expert at failing". And that's why I had to put this podcast's title in inverted comma's. Listen and decide for yourself whether her description is justified. (I don't think it is!) During our conversation we talk a little bit about physics, just to set the scene, and hear about Beth's experiences and challenges throughout her education. Beth is very honest about her mental health, the impact that it has and how it enables her to experience a spectrum of emotions. Beth is an inspiration! Khaled is an inspiration. His story demonstrates resilience in the face of adversity and how he has drawn on his experience to improve his own prospects and the lives of others. With a desire to integrate into the community in his new home town, Khaled became a volunteer with many local groups and projects. He has particular empathy with the homeless having endured difficult times when he sought refuge from war-torn Syria. The full story of his journey to England can be read in Human Crossings: 9 stories about refugees. Khaled has definitely made an impact with his voluntary work; from facilitating fitness sessions to organising multi-faith, multi-cultural celebration events. And he has big plans for the future! Follow Khaled's Blog on facebook for information about the extensive initiatives that he is involved in. Only me! Talking about things I've learnt over the last 12 months. 2019 has been a year of contrast; fantastic memories but also sadness and grief. I'm moving into 2020 wiser, more realistic in my expectations and more honest about my hopes and fears. I feel vulnerable and uncomfortable sharing my struggles with mental health and disordered eating in this episode - but someone may relate or I may stop someone from feeling the way that I have done - and that gives me purpose. What qualifies me for offering this "advice" - albeit to myself? Absolutely nothing except experience. Will I be able to progress with my new insight? This is my accountability. Have a happy and healthy new year, dear listener (in the singular - for some episodes!) I hope that 2020 will bring more listeners to celebrate the success of and champion those who’ve taken steps to improve their own life - to inspire others Instagram: @almond.triangle Email: almond.triangle@gmail.com
How volunteering can impact and improve your life as well as others. Caroline will inspire you as she talks honestly about the benefits, pitfalls and lessons learnt during many years of voluntary work. We also touch on ageing, authenticity and a 60 before 60 challenge.
A week in the Lake District - no exercise (Dr's orders!) - and loads of food. My idea of hell! So I decided to record my experience, thoughts and feelings. An attempt at self-improvement and a tiny bit of positive momentum to further my eating disorder recovery.

This podcast is an exploration into Intuitive Eating with a "ground-up" approach; drawing on the experiences of people who are implementing the strategies outlined in Laura Thomas's book, Just Eat It. The book was recommended to me to help re-build a healthy rapport with eating, exercise... and so on. But is it for me? I'm hoping to find out; learning from other readers on the same pathway - what's easy, what's hard, what can be learned from each other.
Hey Wolves, This podcast features Helen Skinner talking about running; from half marathons to ultra marathons in 18 months. Awesome!
