It's a big topic this week and a pretty timely one, with current redundancy rates in the UK shooting up past the rates from the last financial crisis and predicted to keep on rising in 2021.  Both of us pod-wives have experience of being made redundant, so we are talking about all the emotions we felt going through it.  Later we are joined by Hanna Andersen founder of As We Are in our brand new ASK THE EXPERT section.  She answers all of your questions and gives us heaps of resources to take a look at if you're being made redundant yourself.   TW: We do speak briefly about Sarah Everard and the topic of women's safety at the start of the episode because the news has affected all of us so deeply these last few weeks.  Resources: Acas: https://www.acas.org.uk/ Jobcentre Plus Rapid Response Centre: https://www.gov.uk/redundancy-your-rights/get-help-finding-a-new-job  As We Are: https://www.asweare.org.uk/  LinkedIn - Open To Work settings: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/67405/let-recruiters-know-you-re-open-to-work?lang=en  Amazing If - Redundancy Reset: https://www.amazingiflearning.com/courses/redundancyreset  The Career Psychologist - interview tips: https://www.thecareerpsychologist.com/resources/  Contact: Email:ftfopod@gmail.com Twitter: @ftfopod Instagram: @ftfopod Facebook: Freaking the F Out Hanna Andersen: @asweare.uk       www.asweare.org.uk Artwork by Chris Hastings-Spital: @chrismhs Music produced by Tom Dickinson: @tomldickinson

Chorus is undergoing some exciting changes to work more locally - to become less of a service provider and more of a facilitator in the community. In this episode we talk to Elli Moody, facilitator of inclusive art programs at Chorus, about the inspiring community engagement that is going on locally in Mandurah. “We try and have an annual exhibition each year, which is really about showcasing what our guys have been producing and getting it out there in the community,” says Elli. Elli and the Ability Arts team got involved in the Selfie Portrait Exhibition last year. They sent out a kit with a canvas, paints and paint brushes to various groups in the Mandurah community. “We could have done it just in-house with our customers, but we thought we'd throw it out to the wider community,” Elli explains. “It's really good for building some connections within the community. We had about 25 students from John Tonkin Ed Support Centre take part.” The team has a strong relationship with the City of Mandurah and have taken part in other community art projects, like painting the signage for the beach access equipment shed at Keith Holmes Reserve in Mandurah. “Our artists got together and started drawing beach sort of inspired illustrations, which we then put together into a design, which is now on the shed,” says Elli. Eight artists from Ability Arts took part in state-wide As We Are art exhibition last year. Potter Kylie Graham from the group won the won the sculpture award with her entry of Cinderella and Prince Charming. “She was just so excited and she actually received the award from Stephen Dawson, who is the Minister for Disability Services,’ adds Elli. It’s not all about art down at Ability Arts (although it mostly is!) The group love going on social outings too and last year funded some of their activities by signing up for Containers for Change. “When Containers for Change came out, we thought that would be a great opportunity to make some extra money,” adds Elli. “I think the Ability Arts really speaks to the multiple connections and how we really connect with the community down there,” says Louise. Dan agrees. “What we're trying to do in the Peel area and then beyond is replicate the sort of local way of working that we've heard about today in other places. And that's really the plan,” says Dan. I‘m often asked how my team mate Emily, and I have built a good dynamic, and while it’s not completely accidental it’s something that I want to ensure continues and develops as the business grows. While I can say from my experience what I think has helped contribute to that working relationship I asked Hanna, founder of As We Are, to join me to share some of her expertise as a leadership coach.  We dig into what creates a good company culture and how to implement it to make a positive work place for yourself, your team and even your freelancers. It’s easy to assume company culture relates to bigger organisations or corporate companies, but actually how we want people to feel when they work with us is a key factor in growing and sustaining our business.  Being intentional about the culture of your business means you can make sure it’s aligned with your values and your vision - and it’s not just about free snacks and bean bags.  Hanna has so much knowledge on the requirements that need to be met to create a happy and safe work place, which highlighted to me how team culture is actually a foundational piece of building your business. As my business grows and shifts, Emily and I are looking at how we want our roles in the business to feel and defining that company culture, so welcome to the first sneak peak behind the scenes as we start to lay the future foundations! _____ STAY CONNECTED Alice (aka me) | Instagram| Website| Podcast Hanna | Website | Instagram

Female networking and women only groups have played a big role in my business. Through these communities I’ve made friends, built my business and found a support network. However, since starting this podcast I’ve always wanted to explore if female only spaces are part of the problem, or part of the solution. It’s a big topic & not always comfortable subject to dig into, so when I met Hanna I knew she was the perfect co-host for this episode. Hanna is a leadership coach and founder of As We Are, a platform to promote diversity in senior leadership through coaching and workshops. Together we look at the pro’s and con’s of female spaces, the power that comes from female groups, as well as some of the complex issues that can arise from this.  I’d love to know your thoughts on this one as there’s a lot to say and as ever, we’ve only started the conversation. _____ STAY CONNECTED Alice (aka me) | Instagram| Website| Podcast Hanna | Instagram  Enough Leaning In. Welcome to our interview segment of The Tour Bus Music Show. On this episode we will feature Winbourne from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We caught up with the band short after they returned from their performance at South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. Winbourne was kind enough to take some time away from their rehearsals at the Healing Place Dream Center in Baton Rouge and let us in on what has been going on with the group, their collective history, information on their current EP and the upcoming release later this year of their full length LP.  Our interview is about 1 ½ hours in length including music and was interesting, entertaining, and informative. Over the course of the interview we feature four songs off of their 2010 EP entitled “As We Are”. The songs we feature are (In order): “Let Me Love You, Street Signs, Easy and What Were You Thinking”. The background music in the beginning of the interview is an instrumental version of “Retrospect” We were not only impressed with their music, but with each of them. Their personalities, charm, and genuineness as individuals made the interview a pleasure in itself. We at Audios Maximus Media Network recommend that you make the opportunity to see them live as well as purchasing and adding their music to your collection. They are defiantly worth hearing time and again. Links to their sites online are: www.winbournemusic.com www.youtube.com/winbournevideo www.twitter.com/#!/winbournemusic www.ilike.com/artist/winbourne www.facebook.com/winbournemusic?ref=tf www.winbournemusic.tumblr.com www.myspace.com/winbournemusic Their EP is available at many music retailers online including Amazon and iTunes. ***Winbourne was founded in 2008 and has been setting their audiences on fire with their energy, talent, and passion for what they do. Music…and they do it well. Jordan, Chris (Doogie), Matt, Torrance and Terry are committed to their craft and it shows in everything they do. In our research on local music acts the first thing that drew us to the group was their music. It was positive, well written, masterfully arranged & produced. Winbourne has been featured in The City Social, Tiger Weekly, The LSU Daily Reveille, 225 Magazine, and The Advocate. The band’s sound can be described as as alternative rock. Winbourne entered the Baton Rouge music scene by storm playing at every popular local venue including Chelsea’s, The Varsity and college gigs not to mention they have joined forces with other popular local bands such as Jake Smith. With a rapidly growing fan base flocking to its Myspace, Twitter, and Facebook web pages, Winbourne has received avid local support of their originals. Fans’ favorites include “Easy,” “Let Me Love You,” and “Street Signs”. Fresh out of the studio the band’s focus is spreading their music to the world on their new pilot EP album “As We Are”. The six track record is now available on iTunes and at live shows. Their loyal south Louisiana fan base now spreads outwards in hot response to their EP and enthralling live performance. Winbourne is preparing to get back in the studio to release a full length LP in the spring of 2011. In the mean time they continue to play locally and regionally as well as prepare for stage time in a slew of music festivals within the southeastern U.S. Whether blasting their live performances from the stage or rocking their “As We Are” EP through your own speakers, Winbourne will inspire you to Live Loud. ***Used with permission.
