Most of us have a love and hate relationship with taking photos of ourselves. The way we relate to images of ourselves is a complex and deep experience. After all, there's nothing more vulnerable than standing in front of a camera and exposing the rawness of your being. In this episode of Whole, Full, & Alive, Caitie and Devin Archilla dive into photography and, in particular, Boudoir. They talk about how this intimate style of photography can be reclaimed and serve as a tool to honor your body. Devin shares her personal healing experience through Boudoir and how she helps women change the narrative in how they see themselves in photographs.
As friends I mean! (get your mind out of the gutter!!!!) When you look at who you're spending time with, it's important to make sure they aren't acting like a bunch of crabs… You see, if you put one crab in a bucket, you have to put a lid on the bucket or else it will climb out. If you put multiple crabs in a bucket, you don't need to put a lid on the bucket because if one crab tries to climb out the others will pull it back down. Unfortunately, a lot of women are like this. If one girl in the friends group tries to better herself... level up her life…. make changes for the better...… Her “friends” pull her back down. “Aren't you on a diet?” “Are you allowed to eat that?” “Do you really have to workout? “Come on, skip the gym and drink with me!” Any of that sound familiar? Then hate to break it to you, But this is a confirmed case of crabs. We want to share with you how to have these tough conversations and why surrounding yourself with more supportive women and people will change your life. Today's episode is inspired by my upcoming travels to Spain and Portugal. I'm sharing my tips on how to eat intuitively/eat normally/and eat balanced when you're traveling. Travel can bring up a lot of big feelings when you've spent years dieting, fearing, and restricting food/calories. You're out of your element, your safe foods aren't easily available, and can't plan the way you normally would. It can feel like A LOT.For me, travel has been incredibly healing from my past disordered eating behaviours and eating disorders. If you're feeling nervous to travel because of your relationship with food, I would encourage you to think about the potential benefits of challenging your food fears and learning to be flexible and spontaneous. With that said, I understand that it certainly doesn't come without its fair share of food anxiety and fears. I hope you enjoy the episode! If you'd like 1:1 support with ending food and exercise obsession so that you can reclaim your relationship with food and fitness, you can e-mail me: email@example.com OR fill out my application form.Send me a DM on Instagram: @aliciamayconnorsCheck out my Website: www.wellnesswithalicia.comCheck back every week for a NEW episode! In the process, she shares how she has been able to step into weight loss without having to track one calorie. This week's guest has revolutionized the way I think about my relationship with food. Her name is Niki Sibera, and she is the founder of Happy Hearted Eating and is known lovingly as a “Food Freedom Architect”.Niki joins me on the show this week to share what she has learned in her heart-healing work over the last 30 years. Niki opens up about her traumatic childhood experiences, which include her dad's domestic violence and alcoholism, her mother's two cancer diagnoses and subsequent death, her step-father's sexual abuse, and her lack of stability growing up - moving 10 different times and going to 9 different schools all by the age of 15.Through her journey, Niki shows us how she has been able to transform into being a fierce guide and mentor for women, specializing in helping women feel free “to learn how to tame the whispers from the fridge.” She's opened my eyes to exploring what's behind the eating, to see how my own “trauma monster” has taken over my heart and how I cope.Let's get out of the bondage of shame and come into the light together. You are loved! This week's conversation has enlightened me to a new way of thinking about how I relate to food and to myself, because I have struggled myself with my relationship with food, yo yo dieting etc….. "What do you struggle with most when it comes to your nutrition?" The answer I often get from people is that they know what they should be eating, but they just can't seem to stick to their plan. or they find themselves stress/emotional eating. OR they're in the mindset of restricting/taking away or replacing certain foods. "If chips and cookies were healthy, I'd be skinny" I want to challenge your mindset and perspective with your approach. In this episode, I share a mindset shift and a few ways you can overcome those cravings and internal struggles you may have with certain foods. This idea of going “all in” is a phrase that's gotten tossed around more in recent years in the intuitive eating and eating disorder recovery communities. And the idea behind it is that rather than dipping your toe in the water, you just take the leap and go for it. It's not a free-for-all with food, but it really is about letting go of all the dieting and disordered eating behaviors (things like weighing yourself, tracking your food, obsessively exercising) and instead choosing to listen to your body and letting yourself eat the things that are satisfying to you without having rules about what or when you can eat them. It's about reconnecting with and trusting your body again. My guest on this episode of the podcast is a woman named Dana Mandel, and she shares her own story of disordered eating and body image issues. What's really cool about Dana is that she's now a therapist herself, so she's seen what it's like to be on “both sides of the couch.” I encourage you to listen and think about what pieces of what Dana shares that can you apply to your own life. That's my goal for these interview episodes - that it gives you hope, inspiration and motivation that you can heal too. We make decisions in everything we do—even the simple act of choosing what to eat is making a decision. But oftentimes, it's difficult to know whether we're deciding based on our intuition or not. Sometimes, it's anxiety's voice telling us to do or not to do something. And if we end up listening to the wrong voice, we may end up stuck in a place that is harmful in the long run. In the sixth episode of Whole, Full, & Alive, Caitie delves into the topic of decision-making. She explores the two voices—intuition and anxiety—that influence how we decide on everything in life. Learn how to make intuitive decisions in both small and big life events. If you want to start making intuitive decisions that allow you to grow, listen to this episode!

I've had a lot of life transitions lately. My youngest child started high school, my middle child is abroad on a gap year program. And I'll be transitioning into a new part-time dream work role in a few weeks. All of this has left me tearful, partially because I miss my two older kids now that they're out of the house, but it's gotten me thinking about how my role as a woman and mother is changing. And really, we're always evolving, changing, and reinventing ourselves. It can feel helpless unless we take things more intentionally and approach it as a choice and decide how we want to reinvent ourselves. That's what I help women do with their relationships with food. In fact, the process I've developed is called the Reinvention Formula. This formula helps professional moms go from out of control emotional eater to a calm, confident eater so you can stop obsessing about food and enjoy life in just 15 minutes per day. It's really the process I use with women individually or in a group setting. The next round will begin September 14.
