Chris and Kim are Alaska Bound! On this episode, we go back and listen to key statements made on Episode 114 - Coronavirus Lockdown, released April 11, 2020. The U.S. was only 3 weeks into the COVID-19 lockdown madness and the hosts of the SmorgShow Podcast were trying to make sense of it all. Chris and Jerry evaluate how perceptive we were with what was taking place and where we thought we were likely headed as a nation. This was a time when the pandemic wasn't quite so political so our comments at the time were rather objective in what we were experiencing. Now over 3 years later with 20/20 hindsight, how did we do? The Smorgasbord Radio Show gets it's first copyright threat in 40 years and we lawyer up!
Today on Sense of Soul podcast is Akash Sky, he is a spiritual coach and author. He was born as Akash Thapar in South London, England. His career path is Chartered Accountancy, where he specialises in Financial Investments. The beginning of his life changed direction after his Dad passed away. He experienced an intense yearning to know who he really was, the meaning of life and his relationship with a greater power followed. In 2016 he was connected to the essence of Guruji, the Avatar of Hinduism's Lord Shiva, in a formless relationship. During the year, Guruji guided him to study A Course in Miracles which is dictated by Jesus Christ. Over 5 years of disciplined self-study internally with Guruji & Jesus Christ, he made many memoirs, notes, and a scrap book of experiences, which lead to the existence of this book, Introducing You to Your Own Perfection. His book was written under challenging circumstances. It was as if it came out of nowhere, or now-here. The book began in the UK's national Coronavirus Lockdown, as the writer had an 18-month-old baby, a pregnant wife expecting another, a full-time career in Finance outside of writing and a normal householder life with all the regular maintenance to uphold without his wife heavy lifting. Akash did not expect a book to emerge from this intense busy period of life. Today, Akash continues his career in Finance and is a family man who writes and discusses mystical experiences with other spiritual seekers. In 2016, Akash was connected to the essence of Guruji, the Avatar of Hinduism's Lord Shiva, in a formless relationship. Guruji guided him to study A Course in Miracles which is dictated by Jesus. This study lead to the existence of the book, Introducing You to Your Own Perfection, which is the subject of this podcast. Introducing You to Your Own Perfection was written under challenging circumstances. It was if it came out of nowhere or now-here. The book began during the Coronavirus Lockdown, as the writer had an 18 month-old baby, a pregnant wife expecting another, a full time career outside of writing and a normal householder life. To ensure the message of this work was not lost, it was written during the toddler's naptimes on the weekends and during the week after hours until late at night. The intense force inside to get the words down and arrange this material was "overwhelming" as Akash wanted to extend his experience and introduce you to your own perfection. Cynthia McKinney was the first African-American woman from Georgia elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1992. With a background in foreign policy, McKinney used her seat on the Armed Services and International Relations Committees to address human rights issues. She later left the Democratic party and ran for President as a Green Party candidate and Vice President under Jesse Ventura. She lobbied for the release of FBI documents on the murder of MLK Jr and Tupac, she attempted to have George Bush, Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice impeached, and recently she wrote the book, When China Sneezes: From the Coronavirus Lockdown to the Global Politico-Economic Crisis. The music video was filmed in a hotel room in Washington D.C. just days before the 2020 Corona Virus Lockdown. The room had beautiful dark red, brown and maroon dark textures, very similar to the vibe of the song and fitting perfectly with the Chocolatey vibe I was going for. https://youtu.be/t7Dhmmi68-0 From the artist: Hello world! Here is a brand new music video for my new song "Someone Else's Arms". This music video was filmed in Los Angeles at the Coast of San Pedro. While I wrote and produced this song, I could only put it in feelings as a "sense of drowning", this imagery then led the entire production, from the mix to how the artwork was made and what's more the song's abbreviated version is SEA. This location was perfect to capture my vision. When we got there, we decided to keep things relatively simple given how personal this song it to me and taking in account our relatively small set up. In week 8 of the lockdown the restaurant business around the country is beginning to stir like the giant it is with the thought of open dining rooms right around the corner dancing in their foggy heads. Increasingly it looks like there's a way of doing politics that suits the terrible ravages of capitalism in the twenty-first century. It's authoritarianism spliced with racism. And it rejects the international cooperation needed to put humanity back on the right footing. As the latest moment of this extended crisis grips the planet with the Covid-19 pandemic, hosts Luke Cooper and Zoe Williams are joined by Cambridge scholar and author of Insurgent Empire: Anticolonial Resistance & British Dissent, Priyamvada Gopal. She tells the story of how extreme racism became normalised in India. And draws out the terrible implications this had for the country's Muslim population and the people of Kashmir. It's essential listening for anyone who wants to understand the scale of the reaction that humanity must face down in this century.
In This episode I share my take on if its a good idea to press forward with your weight loss goals or if its better to just stick to weight maintenance during this time of crisis. I share some actionable tips you can use to get started losing weight and burning fat right now while stuck inside without any access to the gyms or feelings or normalcy.

It's quite simply the biggest peacetime crisis capitalism has ever faced. The entire global system has ground to a halt. In this moment of great danger and turmoil, hosts Zoe Williams and Luke Cooper are joined by economist Ann Pettifor, author of The Case for the Green New Deal, and Nick Dearden, regular on the show and director of Global Justice Now. They outline how behind the scenes central banks are undertaking a huge bailout of the financial system to keep it afloat. Will this repeat the mistakes of the 2008 crisis - of socialising the losses but privatising the profits? Or can we radically reform our economy for the challenges of this century? Find out on today's podcast. Editor: Ben Higgins Milner Producer: Luke Cooper

Today on Sojourner Truth: The latest news on the coronavirus and its impact. Our guest is Dr. David Himmelstein, a Distinguished Professor of Public Health at the City University of New York, a lecturer in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and a primary care doctor in The Bronx. Dr. Himmelstein co-founded Physicians for a National Health Program, a group whose 23,000 members advocate for Medicare for All. As the pandemic continues its march across the globe, starting today, South Africa will begin a 21-day lockdown. We speak with Mazibuko Jara, the Deputy Director of the Tshisimani Centre for Activist Education in Capetown, South Africa. For our weekly Earth Watch, Dr. Felicia Keesing joins us to discuss the consequences of interactions among species, particularly as biodiversity declines. Some warn that the coronavirus is a warning shot from nature. Dr. Keesing, Distinguished Professor of the Sciences at Bard College in New York, received her Ph.D. in biology from the University of California at Berkeley. She studies the consequences of interactions among species, particularly as biodiversity declines. In Kenya, where she has been working for almost 25 years, she has investigated how savanna communities respond to the disappearance of large animals such as elephants and zebras. In the U.S., she studies how interactions among species influence disease risk for humans, particularly for Lyme disease and the emerging diseases anaplasmosis and babesiosis.
