Leading the Flock

Brock McGillis joined Alexis Downie to chat in the Kariya studio while in Anaheim for his Shiftmakers Tour. The former hockey player, who gained recognition as the first openly gay men's professional hockey player, spoke about his mission to foster a sense of belonging in sports and how his experiences shaped his career in public speaking.

Alexis Downie, host of the third annual Anaheim Ducks Women in Sports Night panel, was joined on stage by a star-studded cast of powerful and inspiring women in sports following an inspiring message from Sarah Bettencourt (Retired USMC Captain and three-time Sled Hockey World Champion). Angela Ruggiero (Hockey Hall of Famer and Olympic Gold Medalist), Christine Monjer (Los Angeles Sparks – President), and Aisha Chaney (ESPN – Emmy Award Winning Producer) were the first panel on stage. Later, Alexis is joined by Jessi Miley-Dyer (World Surf League Commissioner), Caroline Marks (2024 Olympic Gold Medalist and 2023 World Surf League Champion) and Natasha Watley (UCLA Hall of Famer and Olympic Gold Medalist).

Lindsey Spindle, President of the Samueli Foundation. returns to Leading the Flock to share updates on the new Samueli Foundation logo, the Foundation's plan for the next decade and their vibrant plan for Orange County.

The panel discuss their career in sports, the sacrifice and leadership behind the scenes to make things happen, and what motivated them to become trailblazers in sports for other females. Later, the panel answered questions from guests in attendance of the event.

Former 21st Duck, Luke Gane, is joined in Kariya Studio by current 21st Duck, Trent Sullivan. The pair talk about Trent's extraordinary life journey, his love for the Ducks, being surprised by Teemu Selanne and more on this awesome episode of Leading the Flock!

Alexis Downie and Emerson Etem hosted an episode of Leading the Flock from the Honda Center floor at the 23rd annual Dux in Tux event presented by Honda! Downie and Etem were joined by John Gibson, Adam Henrique, Alex Killorn, Jackson LaCombe and Executive Director of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, Wendy Arciero.

Kent French is joined by the Chief of Mental Health and Recovery Services at the Orange County Health Care Agency, Dr. Veronica Kelley. The duo discuss Dr. Kelley's mental health journey, advice on how to help those around you, ducks.ocnavigator.org and much more!

January 28th at Honda Center marked the inaugural Women in Sports Night for the Anaheim Ducks.
