Now that the dust has somewhat settled, and though I have already done some very detailed announcements around Piston Peak, Imagination, Tomorrowland and Villains Land, there are so many other details from my experience at Disneyland and at the expo that I haven't really unpacked. It's taken me many days to get my head around everything that took place. This podcast is my effort to summarize all of that, to better get a sense of the whole of D23, not just park announcements--which I have a lot to cover--but the event itself, from D23 day at Disneyland to the Exposition floor to the Honda Center events at night. They break down what worked at the convention, what frustrated attendees, and whether the experience is worth the trip. From Alan Menken and Bedknobs and Broomsticks to merchandise resellers and one unforgettable Reddit discussion about convention hygiene, this is D23 from his, hers, and your perspective. HIGHLIGHTS • D23 brought together theme park fans, collectors, cosplayers, gamers, movie fans, and nearly every corner of Disney fandom. • Eric and Lauren compare the convention's virtual queues, reservation system, merchandise lines, and the planning required to get the most out of the weekend. • Resellers and professional line-waiters sparked frustration as high-demand D23 merchandise became increasingly difficult for some guests to access. • Attendees suggested fixes ranging from tighter purchase limits to badge-linked reservations and better communication. • Transportation to the Honda Center became another pain point, including reports of lengthy delays when a shuttle bus broke down. • Eric and Lauren review the D23 Parks presentation and question whether its talk-show-style production delivered enough substance for hardcore Disney fans. • Neil Patrick Harris, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Gloria Gaynor, Los Lobos, and other performers gave the presentation plenty of spectacle, though the pacing sometimes overshadowed the announcements. • The return of Dreamfinder and Figment generated excitement, but the lack of specifics left fans wondering exactly what Disney has planned. • Expedition Everest's long-broken Yeti is finally getting attention, giving longtime Disney Parks fans one particularly memorable announcement. The Parks & Experiences D23 presentation at the Honda Center has concluded and with it came two big pieces of news in what was literally the last two minutes of the entire program. News: Details have been announced for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event for 2026. This year's event will run from August 14th-16th at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Honda Center for evening presentations. The Disney Legends inductees were announced, along with a bunch of activities leading up to the main event. On August 8th, the Walt Disney Archives new exhibit will open, on August 11th, D23 Night at the Anaheim Packing District returns, August 12th is D23 Night at Angel Stadium, and August 13th is D23 Day at Disneyland. Tickets went on sale March 31st for Gold Charter Members, with Essential, Choice, and Complete members going on sale April 2nd. The hospital has a new name – Rady Children's Health, but the event is still the CHOC Walk. The event supports pediatric specialty care, research and innovation, family support services, and education for future healthcare providers.
