PART 2/3 BOOM YEARS. In a single, recent American generation, Coastal Texas snow goose hunting went from boom to bust--from a fabled hunting experience that drew hunters from around the world to a soon-to-be chapter in history. This 3-part series explores the rise and fall of snow goose hunting on the Katy Prairie--its boom, culture, decline, and lasting legacy. Legendary Texas outfitter Larry Gore--whose high school project became a half-century guiding career-- his son Isaac, to whom he's passed the torch, and Texas waterfowl historian Rob Sawyer, paint a colorful picture that some may remember, but that is forever gone. In this episode: What made the Katy Prairie so uniquely attractive to snow geese? What was it to live and work in the spectacle? What was it like as a kid tagging along? The daily routine, colorful characters, how decoys and calls evolved, Texas snow goose hunting culture and respect, heyday picking houses, conservation order limits, shifting client expectations and behavior, snow goose hunting quality decline, and more. (00:00-12:49) Happy birthday John Lennon. TMA will be live from The Rawlings Experience next Wednesday. Audio from Sparky calling into the Paul Finebaum show and it sounds like didn't open his mouth during the entire call. Audio of Aaron Boone talking about if he expects to be back next year.(12:57-30:16) Doug's going as a furry for Halloween. Story out of Puerto Rico talking about the possibility of Yadier Molina joining Oli's staff on the Cardinals. You can never have enough catchers. Hard to envision Yadi doing the media part of the responsibilities. No news yet on the Albert as manager of the Angels rumors.(30:26-49:08) The Hoosiers trying to shock the world and take down the Ducks. Jackson didn't wanna be near the Antlers. Above the tunnel. Jackson workshopping a take on early kickoff times for west coast teams. Audio from The Ruffino and Joe Show saying that Alabama will smoke Mizzou and that Ty Simpson will pick them apart. Don't say 50 piece. Audio of Brandon Walker on FS1's Wake Up Barstool talking about the huge opportunity for Mizzou on Saturday. Mizzou has the 7th most difficult schedule in the country for the remaining games. Finna be a slobberknocker. Welcome back, friends! This week, we're tossing out some of the most random, ridiculous, and weirdly valid thoughts that popped into our heads—and we're counting on you to help us make sense of them. Or not. That's cool too.Nicky Trendz kicks things off by asking the age-old question: why do crime families keep… criming? Like, is there no family business other than “business”? Then Manny Oso chimes in with a spicy take—jury duty should come with perks. Not bribes. Just… maybe a free sandwich? And of course, we spiral from there. What do Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg even talk about backstage on The Voice? Is the word “Barbie” being thrown around a little too loosely these days? And if you had a “Get Outta Jury Duty Free” card… when would you cash it in?We're just out here asking questions the world forgot to. Come for the thoughts, stay for the tangents. There's a theme that echoes through Dan Lanning's program at Oregon in 2025: Double Down. But for the defending regular season Big Ten champs and one of the nation's top teams “Doubling Down” is not just about repeating as Champs or getting to the College Football Playoff, it's about daily growth.Dan Lanning is the latest conversation on THE PROCESS, a limited series within Y-Option, fueled by our founding sponsor, 76® - keeping you on the GO GO GO so you never miss a beat. In a detailed conversation with Rhett Lewis and myself, the Ducks head coach opened up about being exposed to the GOAT of Process, Nick Saban, and how that has impacted his life and the core DNA Traits of his program. After a statement win on the road at Penn State two weeks ago, Lanning didn't allow the emotions of an epic White Out win to linger. “Every one of our players has an improvement plan,” he told us. “One thing they must get better at.” And that goes for every unit, every coach, every staff member. That kind of clarity doesn't come from chasing results. It comes from the process that Lanning learned years ago at Alabama and Georgia which began with a simple phrase: evaluate everything. The good calls, the bad ones, the moments that worked out for the wrong reasons. As he put it, “Good process, bad result–that can happen. Bad process, good result–that can happen too.” Regardless of result, his knows he and his staff still have to fix it.And then he took it further and shared something with Rhett and I that we have never heard from a football coach. He has his players self-reflect each week. Not just verbally, but he has them write it down. And not just what worked, but what didn't and how they'll respond. Coach Lanning reads each players essay and their words give him a window into their self-awareness, and that's where real growth starts. When Coach Lanning spoke about self-awareness for his players, it landed. Because that word sits at the center of his life too. The man who once drove from Kansas City to Pittsburgh just to chase a coaching job now balances the same fire at Oregon with grounded perspective. His wife's battle with cancer reshaped how he sees the world. “There is no balance in this profession,” he admitted. But when he gets a moment to have dinner with his wife or watch his son's football game–Coach Lanning is all in.In a sport where everyone's watching the scoreboard, Dan Lanning is focused on the present while building a culture that values honesty over hype, process over panic, and connection over control. And if you walk into his locker room, he says, you'll see that the rest of the world could learn from the young men in it.That's The Process. That's Growth. And it's working in Eugene. For past episodes of THE PROCESS be sure to check out Peyton Manning, Chris Fowler and Mark Jackson as their process as professionals, husbands and fathers may impact your life.Much love and stay steadyYogiY-Option: College Football with Yogi Roth is a reader-supported publication. EPISODE 1/3 GETTING STARTED. In a single, recent American generation, Coastal Texas snow goose hunting went from boom to bust--from a fabled hunting experience that drew hunters from around the world to another soon-to-be chapter in history. This week we wanted to talk about a crazy story we were sent about the ducks in Green Bay. Apparently, the water has become so tainted that the DNR is advising people not to eat their harvested ducks in that area. We also found other articles about different places that are also saying to limit your consumption of wild duck meat. What a crazy deal. Have you seen or heard of anything like this? Recorded: September 29th 2025 | Taylor Lewan and Will Compton are back for another football recap, breaking down Week 5 of the College Football season and Week 4 of the NFL. In CFB, the Boys cover Virginia’s shocking upset over Florida State, Alabama’s big win over Georgia, Vanderbilt and Diego Pavia proving they’re legit, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss’ massive victory over LSU, Tennessee surviving against Mississippi State, and more from a loaded weekend. Then it’s on to the NFL — from the Tennessee Titans’ tough 0-4 start, the Steelers dominating the Vikings, and the Giants’ new success with Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, to the Eagles moving to 4-0, the Lions proving they’re for real, and the Chiefs looking like they’re back. To close out the show, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning hops on the show to recap Oregon’s double-OT win at Penn State. He breaks down the atmosphere, his viral postgame moments, and what’s ahead for the Ducks the rest of the season. Big hugs, tiny kisses.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
College Football week 5 reactions are here as Alabama vs UGA and Oregon vs Penn State were instant classics. How did Kalen DeBoer and the Tide go into Athens and end Kirby Smart’s home winning streak? What about Dan Lanning and the Ducks taking down James Franklin’s team in the whiteout? USC vs Illinois and LSU vs Ole Miss also saw top 10 teams fall with Brian Kelly and the Tigers once again not finding a run game against Lane Kiffin and the Rebs. Josh also looks at FSU going down, Tennessee finding a way against Mississippi State, Indiana surviving, and more. The AP Poll is out heading into week 6 with plenty of teams in weird places. All that plus best bets on the Ramen Noodle Express.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Fox Sports' lead College Football analyst Joel Klatt reacts to the Oregon's huge win in the White Out at Penn State as Dan Lanning's Ducks look primed for a National Championship run. Klatt breaks down why Penn State can bounce back from the heartbreaking loss but recommends a big change in their offense if they are going to finally win one of these big games against a marquee opponent. He then reacts to Alabama's win in Athens as they ended the nation's longest home winning streak with another win over Georgia. Klatt marvels at the change of this Alabama team to bounce back from the early season loss to Florida State and discusses the opportunities missed by the Bulldogs including Kirby Smart's decision to go for it on 4th and 1 in the 4th Quarter that ultimately backfired on Georgia. Klatt then reveals his latest Top 10 and gives his reasoning for his rankings – will Georgia and Penn State stay in the Top 10 after losses? Was Ohio State's impressive win at Washington enough to get the #1 spot? Klatt wraps up the show with thoughts on his game from Saturday as Illinois knocked off USC as time expired – giving credit to Illinois' ability to bounce back while also discussing USC's long-term prospects as they continue to grow under Lincoln Riley.
