Alex Pereira announced last week that he is vacating the UFC light heavyweight title. Why? Well, nobody has said for sure but … we've got some ideas. Ya boi Poatan isn't just going to give up the strap for no reason. He must be chasing something and, honestly, the only thing for Pereira to chase outside of 205 is a heavyweight title fight (probably at the White House) against one of three men: Jon Jones, Cyril Gane or Tom Aspinall. We know Aspinall is still out trying to get his eyes put back in his head, so that leaves Jones and Gane — Jones obviously being the more palatable choice. So, the questions are: Would Poatan have a chance in that fight now that we know Jones' hip is “covered with arthritis” or whatever? Will the UFC make Jones' White House dreams come true after all? And, if not, would the UFC really stoop to giving us Pereira vs. Gane? Probably. They probably would. Plus, UFC 326 is this weekend! Yay! Learn more about your ad choices.

The Year of Our Lord 2025 was a weird one in MMA. Complete dogshit for the heavyweight division, obviously. You started the year with Dana White swearing up and down that he was going to get Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall done, only to have Jones quit the sport to monetize this amazing brand he'd built — then come crawling back as soon as he found out about the White House fight card. When they finally did set up a heavyweight title fight for Gas Hands Tommy, Ciryl Gane went two knuckles deep in Aspinall's eye … which obviously seems to have negatively affected Aspinall's career more than Gane's. But it wasn't all bad. In the spring, fighters started to get that sweet, sweet class-action settlement money. By the end, Merab and Islam were the consensus fighters of the year. The UFC wrapped up the ESPN era and is now on to murkier waters with Paramount. Oh, and what's this shit with Ilia Topuria? Not great! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

While UFC 321 is in the rear-view mirror, the aftertaste has lasted a lot longer than most events we've seen this year following the eye poke from Ciryl Gane to Tom Aspinall that ended the main event in a no-contest, leaving the MMA community with more questions than answers, and a division amongst the fanbase, overall. Despite the unfortunate ending to the fight, has Aspinall's stock dropped overall, even though he was not the one who committed the foul? In this video, Teddy breaks down an incredible night of heavyweight action — starting with the dramatic upset win in Boxing by Fabio Wardley over Joseph Parker. Wardley pulled off a stunning comeback knockout in what turned out to be one of the year's most thrilling fights.
How does Tom Aspinall still have an eyeball right now? Dude, Ciryl Gane went two-knuckles deep in Aspinall's left eye (while pulling off the rare double-eye poke!) during their heavyweight championship fight at UFC 321 on Saturday. Gane might have Dundasso'd a little TOO hard, as his exploration of Aspinall's cranium with his left index finger did get their bout declared a no contest, and yet, somehow, it still felt like Gane won the battle of public opinion. The crowd booed Aspinall (naturally). A bunch of shitty MMA meme accounts made fun of him (naturally). Some former fighters came out and said THEY would've kept fighting (naturally). Dana White is talking about booking the immediate rematch (because of course). So, sorry, Tom, you got Three-Stooged and now a lot of idiots think you quit. So, yeah, we thought the worst thing that could happen at UFC 321 was a Ciryl Gane victory, and then heavyweight basically laughed in our faces and said, “Hold my beer.” Plus, in the other two heavyweight fights, Jailton Almeida lost by forgetting to fight and Chris Barnett (literally) showed his ass. SleepyJ and MeanGene talk betting for the entire main card of UFC 321. Sleepy J and Mean Gene break down the entire UFC 321 main card from Abu Dhabi in a fast-paced betting preview. They open with their best bet—Azamat Mirzakhanov over Aleksandar Rakić—calling him the hungrier fighter with knockout power and better fight IQ while questioning Rakić's motivation and durability after a long layoff. They both see Mirzakhanov's aggression, southpaw power, and confidence carrying him through, especially overseas where judges may favor pressure and damage. They next debate Jailton Almeida vs Alexander Volkov: Sleepy J likes the veteran Volkov's size, balance, and cardio at dog odds, while Gene sides with Almeida for his submission skills and athletic upside but warns of cardio issues if it goes late. In the bantamweight bout, they tackle Umar Nurmagomedov vs Mario Bautista. Sleepy J grabs Bautista at +440 just for the value, citing his streak and toughness, but admits Umar likely wins; Gene breaks down Umar's title-fight loss to Merab Dvalishvili, the broken hand, his elite grappling, and motivation to reclaim the title, calling him a “guaranteed” parlay piece even at –600. Sleepy J then drops a promo code before they preview the co-main—Mackenzie Dern vs Virna Jandiroba—for the vacant strawweight title. Gene picks Dern, citing her improved striking, world-class jiu-jitsu, and UFC marketing push but admits her wrestling and tendency to crumble under bright lights are concerns; he expects a submission or decision win if she stays composed. Sleepy J counters with Jandiroba, highlighting her five-fight win streak over names like Angela Hill and Marina Rodriguez and the revenge angle from losing to Dern years ago, arguing the line is off and that Dern is being overvalued for marketability. Finally, they dive deep on the heavyweight title fight—Tom Aspinall vs Ciryl Gane. Sleepy J sees both as elite athletes but leans Aspinall and bets the over 1.5 rounds, thinking both start cautiously; he views Aspinall as the next long-term champ once he beats Gane. Gene delivers his most confident take ever, calling Aspinall a generational heavyweight—fast, technical, powerful, and mentally tougher—and insists Gane's poor ground game, low fight IQ, and quit factor from the Jon Jones fight will doom him. He predicts Aspinall by submission and urges listeners to parlay him at –300 to –400 or take “inside the distance” at –275 as safer value. The show closes with Sleepy J praising Gene's conviction, both agreeing Aspinall rules the division unless Jon Jones returns for legacy money, and teasing an extended episode for UFC 322, which they expect to be one of the best cards in years, urging fans to follow them on X and use promo code TOM20 at Pregame dot com for 20% off. The UFC heavyweight title reign of Tom Aspinall kicks off Saturday in the main event of UFC 321 as he defends his newly-minted undisputed title against Ciryl Gane. A lot has been made about the pressure Aspinall has heading into the fight, but is it a little bit overblown? Brian Campbell and Luke Thomas are joined by one of MK's favorite guests, Chuck Mindenhall, to talk all things UFC 321 taking place this Saturday in Abu Dhabi. The main event features a heavyweight bout between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane and the co-main squares up Virna Jandiroba against Mackenzie Dern in the women's strawweight division. The fellas break it down and spotlight the rest of the card on this edition of the Pregame Preview!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Let's be honest, if the current version of the UFC heavyweight title is going to maintain any shred of credibility, Tom Aspinall pretty much has to win this weekend at UFC 321. Even if that happens, we'll still only really be ready to say that Gas Hands Tom is one of the three best heavyweights in the world — the UFC champion of active heavyweights currently on the roster, let's say. But if Ciryl Gane wins? Forget about it. Gane's already lost to both Jon Jones AND Francis Ngannou. There's no way you're making the case he's the “undisputed” anything. So, let's go, Tommy! Plus, Mackenzie Dern will vie to win the vacant strawweight title against Virna Jandiroba, who she has already defeated and is currently the betting favorite to defeat again. Almost as though the UFC has a rooting interest in this shit. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
