He has decades of scouting experience for the Swift Current Broncos from 1998 to 2018, where he helped construct the Broncos squad that won the WHL's Ed Cynowith Cup in 2018, before moving on to help the Saskatoon Blades until being hired by Everett in 2022.Before becoming a scout, Leavold was a coach for many years, and is the proud father of former NHL prospect, and Mental Health Advocate, Brady Leavold. In this episode Brian and Jason discuss the scouting process, and what the 'intangibles' are.If you have ever wondered how much weight scouts put on a player's character, or his parents' attitude, or if a less-than stellar weekend performance results in being scratched off a scout's watchlist, listen to this informative podcast.
Hockey to Hell and Back is the title of Brady Leavold's aptly named podcast. He's been there done that. Seen things and done things most of us only see in movies. Brady isn't proud of his choices, or his history, but he wouldn't change it for anything - not even Jaime Benn's career, as he says in this episode.Leavold's journey is HIS journey and because he literally HAS been to hell and back, he is now using his recovery and his message to help others. There is grace, humility and guilt in Brady's message. He's not sure why he's still here. Why did he get to live when he tried so many times to die?He doesn't know the answer to that, but he is trying to use every day to become a better man, and to help others who might be struggling, or who might struggle in the future.Hockey was his savior, his reaper, and then his salvation. The best game in the world has brought Brady Leavold full circle and I am honored to share his story and his message with you. This is a powerful conversation about a very human topic.Enjoy.

What a remarkable story, when we agreed to the this podcast, I had no clue what Brady had endured. From being a abused as a boy, enduring horrible tryout stories and poor coaching treatment I was astounded that athletes endured these things. I know about hazing, rookie invitations but the tryout bull was abusive. This episode is filled with what we need to change in all sports to make them better for our up and coming athletes.
