On Healing with my beautiful anam cara (soul friend), Caroline McGuigan is out today. Caroline joins me for a very personal conversation about the journey she is now on. It was our advocacy and passion for positive change to be brought about in Ireland that first brought Caroline McGuigan and I together. To live in a world where people are empowered to look after their mental health and less people died by suicide was a key focus for us. Caroline went on to move mountains in this space, along with her beautiful husband John, and I was lucky enough to be on part of the journey with them.I'd like to remember John as his 4th anniversary approaches and dedicate this episode of On Healing to him. John physically left this earth four years ago in the most unimaginable way while on a family holiday in Spain, and his family have been rebuilding their life ever since.Over the last four years Caroline has studied with some of the worlds leading experts in healing, wholeness, grief, and logotherapy and she shares some of her learnings during our chat. She has become friends with Viktor Frankl's Grandson Alex Vesely, after sharing her story with him.Caroline, thank you so much for trusting me with your story today, and for being the kindest soul friend anyone could ever ask for. Johns' legacy lives on in the people that were lucky enough to work with him, know him, and be helped by him. This episode may be activating if you have experienced tragic loss, so please be mindful before listening. Brendan and Terry Ring are very special people. They have turned their pain into purpose and set up Cliona's Foundation, to help families all over Ireland cope with the financial strain of having a child with a life limiting illness. This episode touches on many things, loss, finding meaning, signs, coincidences – which Brendan heard described before as a series of events in life in which God wishes to remain anonymous, (I LOVE this description – there certainly have been many coincidences in my own life). It is just beyond special. Welcome to On Healing, a podcast dedicated to sharing stories of healing, and the power of tuning into the inner calm and potential that lies within each one of us. I will be having conversations with incredible guests that have inspired and empowered me, and I hope by listening you will take something valuable away. This episode was recorded on St. Patricks day in New York, with my Aunt Margaret and Uncle Bill who are in their eighties, and their son Billy. This is such a special conversation about emigration, their love of Ireland, and their memories of the day their dear son Desmond lost his life in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers on September 11th. My Uncle Bill was working as the Director of Flight Operations for Delta Airlines and was standing in the Chief Pilots Office in JFK Airport, as the twin towers were being attacked, knowing his son was inside. He took out his phone, called Desmond and his phone kept ringing out. They had just celebrated Desmond's 33rd Birthday the weekend before this tragic day.I've no doubt you'll feel deeply moved after listening to this.Thank you so much to Margaret, Bill, and Billy for sharing their hearts with us today.
