Give me 3 minutes and I'll give your business a boost with lessons on how to create content and build in-house marketing for your business. This podcast delivers concise advice on media and marketing, and in particular, how to create effective content for your business. I’ve spent over 20 years in the media industry across Asia where I’ve helped global companies develop content strategies to reach targeted audiences. I'm here to share my knowledge, experience, and on-going learnings with you.
Doesn't it seem like everyone today is coming to you for ideas? It doesn't matter if you're in marketing or public relations or in content creation and strategy (like me), people ranging from your clients to your staff, to your boss, to members of your audience are wringing your brain dry for solutions and "unique ideas". And it can get tiring. But here's something you may not know - the best ideas often don't come to you through "aha" moments. People like me who need to generate ideas for a living almost always use ideation techniques to spark ideas in a thoughtful and methodical way. In this ep, I'm going to share with you the one technique that has served me well for over 20 years. I think you'll find it useful for any kind of brainstorm.
It's the wisdom of today - if you want to build brand visibility and credibility, you're going to have to be willing to put yourself out there on the media scene. But what this millennial boss says might surprise you. Rachel Lim, the founder and co-CEO of Singapore-born fashion brand, Love Bonito, talks about her 10-year business journey and ruminates on how much her personal branding has impacted that of her business. More than a few business owners have asked me what content marketing is. And in almost all the cases, they gave me less than a minute to explain it! Most of them seemed to get it in 60 seconds, so I've assume my explanations were clear and succinct, and good enough to share with you right here. For all of you still stumped by what content marketing is about, this Podcast will explain it in just one minute. I know a fair number of people who've thought of writing a children's book, and recently one of them just up and did it. She is Ming Tan, the current Managing Director of IPOS International (part of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore) -- also one of the smartest women I know! She embarked on this book project, "Near and Far", with no formal experience writing children's books and was motivated only by the desire to engage her own kids during the Covid-19 lockdown in Singapore. Ming believes anyone can do it as long as you get a few things right. All the advice you need is in this episode! "Near and Far" is now available via a fundraiser for New Life Stories, a charity working to bridge the physical distance between incarcerated mums and their kids. Close the social and educational gap for these families and get a great book on how we can stay close, even when physically apart. Every penny counts, thank you! https://www.giving.sg/new-life-stories/closethegap Make sure to subscribe to the StraightToTheCor podcast and leave a comment, review and a 5-star rating on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. When the CEOs of some of the world's largest companies are finding ways to connect with audiences on social media networks, can you afford to eschew these marketing channels today? Some people (Asians, in particular) worry that being socially visible makes them come across as attention-seeking. They confuse social visibility with social celebrity - the two aren't necessarily tied to each other. The former is what C-suites should aim for today and you can get there without having to put yourself front and centre of your social media efforts. Tune in to find out how in under 3 minutes. Hey, some media and marketing companies don't even get what content marketing is, so don't worry if you're trying to wrap your head around it. It's an approach that goes against marketing instincts because essentially it's saying, market your product without talking about your product. WHAT?! Tune in to get why that works.
