This week Joe and Robert cover the big news out of Disney. Do they really have more subscribers than Netflix? Are they the greatest media company of all-time? (the answer is yes) Axios sells to Cox Enterprises, creating a local media opportunity that may be unprecedented. At the 5x revenue valuation, the boys ponder how a content marketing division could be valued (revenue or not). Lyft creates a media division...but the real story is the ongoing diversification of audience and customer revenue. Rants and raves include online gambling content and whether it's better or worse to work from home. Jill Griffin has spent her career leading innovation, digital and media strategy, content development, and marketing programs for many of the world's top brands. Advertising Age recognized her as one of the "25 Women to Watch" and she was named one of the "50 Most Influential People in Content Marketing" by NewsCred. She's also a two-time winner of AdWeek-Mediaweek's Media Plan of the Year. Whether she's working with startups, thought leaders, or renowned global organizations, Jill has sat on all sides of the table. She works with organizations to create strengths-based cultures to increase performance, retention, and well-being. And yet, her road to success was not quite as smooth as it may seem. When Jill's career started to pick up steam, she was involved in an accident that led to head trauma, forcing her to rethink, reset, and reboot her career and her life. The injury forced her to live on purpose rather than in reaction. She felt compelled to consider how much of an impact her thoughts played in creating her results. And it forced Jill to adjust her own career trajectory.  While she still spent many years consulting with big brands like The Coca-Cola Cola Company, Microsoft, Hilton Hotels, and Samsung, Jill also became a certified coach passionate about helping others create fulfilling careers and lives. Today, Jill works with busy clients to achieve results by clearing out their old B.S. (belief systems). This necessary work gets them clear on what they want to create, and it rewires their thoughts so they can see the results they desire and be confident it's within their reach. In this week's Work From The Inside Out podcast, learn more about Jill's journey: Jill has written for Fast Company, HuffPost, and Metro UK. She has been quoted by leading media outlets like Adweek, Advertising Age, Forrester Research, The New York Times, NewsCred, Newsday, Media Week departures, and the Wall Street Journal.  She is a Gallup® Certified Strengths Coach and has helped hundreds of clients amplify their strengths, increase visibility, create career clarity, and design a brighter future. John Farkas, founder of Golden Spiral Marketing, tells how his first job working in a hardware store prepared him for a career in marketing. According to John, marketing is largely about helping people find the right tools to get a job done. John talks about how his first career in theater led to the founding of his digital agency. From theater John learned there are many different ways to get an idea across, and how important audience interactions are to communication. John followed his love of theater into production and directing. Theater production led to corporate events which led to building websites for businesses. John is a student of pragmatic marketing and believes "our opinions, while interesting, are irrelevant." The customer has the one opinion that matters. Technologists have to imagine the world in the way it ought to be while building a bridge to where users and customers are today. Marketing tells the story of how and why people should "cross the bridge" to the new way. John tells Tom to create value with his marketing. "If we're going to put a blog out, we better learn something when we write it," says John. “Do research that adds to your own knowledge and then share that new knowledge with your audience,” is John's advice for content creators. Tom asks John if activity is more important that content quality. John says social media allows us to have fun with marketing, but the end goal of marketing is serious: value creation. Tom asks John what to look for to know that a marketing spend is worth the price. John says product information takes a long time to show any return while valuable information can attract an audience. “You have to have valuable information to give away if you want to succeed in digital marketing,” says John. Tom asks John about running a family business – John's son is the leader of creative at Golden Spiral. John tells how working with family makes you smarter but requires a lot of discipline around respecting boundaries. Candor is essential for making the relationship work. Finally John talks about differentiation for software products and the importance of how value is delivered when features between products are similar. “If you understand who you are and what you bring, and you understand it extraordinarily well, you're going to see results.”

It's all in your head (Russ Book review) ft. Keven Pimentel with Alex Quin

Episode Summary: In this podcast episode, Host, Alex Quin, discusses music legend Russ with Kevin Pimentel. They also explore the topic of manifestation and motivation. They discuss how to use the power of manifestation to create the life you want and how to maintain motivation throughout the process. Wisdom Nuggets: Ruminating on ideas from books you've read. Alex shares that he reads books front and back and then highlights the most important to him at that moment. He then skims through the book again and writes the information he's garnered in a google doc file, and turns them into tasks. There are three essential qualities, qualities required for turning your real life into your dream life. Delusion, persistence, and gratitude. Delusion will give you faith when there is absolutely nothing in your present life that indicates you should believe. That's why it's the number one quality. It is the mother of all manifestations. Persistence is required because even if you have unwavering faith and believe with all your heart that you will achieve your goal, there will be times when it seems impossible. When those times come, you must remember why you started down this path in the first place and hold on to your vision no matter what. The third and final quality is gratitude. You must be grateful for what you have in the present moment, even if it's not what you want. The more you focus on feeling thankful for what you have, the more likely you are to attract what you want into your life.Podcast Outline: [00:45] Interview begins[01:43] So you recently flew to LA with me and the rest of the contrast magazine team to do a cover with Russ.[02:41]we found out about Russ through his music. Yeah. And we had the blessing of being able to feature him in contrast magazine.[03:06] I feel there are other ways of being able to communicate certain messages, books being one of them, and this book is called it's all in your head. Get out of your way.[04:17] Music is the soul stripped away from the body in audio format. When you record music, you transcend your body.[04:30] There are three essential qualities, qualities required for turning your real life into your dream life. Delusion, persistence, and gratitude.[06:17] Be your devil's advocate. Yeah. So that you can say, well, hold on now, am I actually wanting this? Or is this something I'm being led by because of my ego and to fulfill something that is worthless, right?[06:56] I'm successful because I am confident. Not the other way around. [10:49] You could be a rockstar designer. You could be a rock star consultant. You could be a rockstar trainer. You just gotta do it. Exactly.[13:14]I think one thing that we have to learn as human beings is that we're emotional beings, which means that we're always gonna reach these places. It's almost like you have to anticipate the fact that that's already going to happen. [14:26] What fills me up with the most enthusiasm is what I know is to come. So like I'm so, so motivated by my understanding of what it is that I am and I'm doing, and I'm building and then know it's like, you're bracing, you're bracing for it.[16:15]And one of the surest ways of reaching success in whatever ways success is to you is through repeating successful actions.[17:42] Everyone's just trying to understand this thing that we call life.[19:16] So yeah, no matter what's happening economically, no matter what's happening in the world, don't lose hope in your ability to create in what has not been created yet.[20:15] It's been a great time having Kevin again, this is his third time on the podcast. Love the way he thinks, love the way he expresses himself.Power Quotes: “You are gonna be the only thing that can stop you from achieving what you want” - Keven Pimentel.“I'm successful because I am confident. The Content Marketing category is almost 700 billion. Almost every company is working on content and increasing their content marketing investments. And yet, when was the last time you got a piece of content marketing and you said that was legendary? Let's dig into how the marketing world got duped into content free marketing, aka saying nothing everywhere, and why this is one of the largest opportunities hiding in plain sight. We recently launched our newest big book from category pirates. It's called Snow Leopard: how legendary writers create a category of one. What you're about to hear is the audio book read of me reading chapter three, which is all about content, free marketing, and why it's a giant opportunity for the rest of us. Welcome to Lochhead on Marketing. The number one charting marketing podcast for marketers, category designers, and entrepreneurs with a different mind. Content-Free Marketing The Content Marketing category is a $4 billion industry. And it's estimated by 2024, the content marketing industry will grow another 270 billion, bringing the grand total to 700 billion. But content marketing is broad and includes everything from creation to distribution to content management. For example, in 2020 the enterprise content management industry was valued at $47 billion and is projected to more than double over the next five years, to more than 105 billion translations of the soon to be 700 billion content marketing industry. 20% of the entire market is exclusively dedicated to managing the content that gets created. Well, what's the content? More importantly, how much of the content being created, especially by enterprise companies and b2c companies, is actually worth reading? When was the last time you clicked on a company blog post and opened a company newsletter or listened to a corporate podcast and said to yourself, “wow, sure am glad I clicked on that”? The fact that most content marketing is garbage represents one of the greatest marketing opportunities of our time, for those willing to buck current conventional wisdom. Content Management The Content Management subcategory of the mega content marketing category is growing faster than ever. And yet, the number one activity b2b companies outsource is content creation by a mile. Get this: 86% of b2b organizations surveyed said they outsourced content creation. The next closest activity is content distribution, which only 30% of b2b organizations surveyed said they did editorial planning. Now, let's connect these two data points. On one hand, Content Management is growing at breakneck speed, while Content Creation creates more to manage. On the other hand, content creation is often the number one most outsourced marketing activity. Which means companies are deferring the single most important aspect of content, which is the creation of each and every idea and who's coming up with these ideas. Gary Vee D As we wrote about in our mini book, The Me Disease, many marketers today have, unfortunately, caught Gary Vee D. It is a content disease that leads creators and companies alike to believe the whole purpose of content creation is to do it and do it as often as possible. It doesn't matter if it's good or if it's valuable. Just say it out loud and say it off and, “pump out 200 pieces of content today”. Gary Vee and other digital marketing “gurus” have led the masses to believe the fact that you did it means you're succeeding. More equals mo betta. And so, every marketer everywhere has adopted this spray and pray approach where 100% of the emphasis is on the output, and essentially zero of the emphasis is on the quality of the content, and what is actually being said. To hear more about Content-Free Marketing, and how to avoid falling into this marketing trap, download and listen to this episode. Katie Munoz is known as a funny person now, but she wasn't born that way. She was born quiet, serious, and clumsy, leaving her in constant embarrassment. As a young adult, she finally figured out how to use humor as self-defense (i.e. if you laugh at yourself first, nobody else can laugh at you.) She is living proof that humor can be learned, even by a naturally serious person, with no personality transplant required. In Toastmasters, she expanded her speaking skills and entered her first humorous speech contest in 1996, with a speech titled “Out of the Closet,” where she came out of the closet as a math nerd. That speech carried her to the regional competition in Eugene, Oregon. People have been gifting her with slide rules ever since. The next year, she began teaching “The How of Humor” workshops at conferences and conventions to help fellow quiet, serious people master public speaking skills. If you are just a starter in the real estate industry and you have been thinking a lot about the things you should consider, the things you should do, and the things you must avoid, then we are the right people that you should talk to! I've been through it. We've built 13 YouTube channels across the country and we are willing to share with you our experiences throughout the process. My partner, Jackson Wilkey, and I started our path in this business in 2019 and we have never looked back. The walk and talk have so much information that I can't remember it all. I have to listen 2, 3, or 4 times that same podcast. In analytics, it shows how many new subs you got from a video. Do you give weight to a video that produces more subscribers and more videos like that? Is eXp sharing all the same methods internally? When you give your agents access to the phone # and email, how do you keep them accountable with leads? Do you have an app or spreadsheet and have them enter every reach out into it?  Does sharing the link to your channel have the same negative effect as sharing a link to a specific video? Is there one common method you used to find partner agents to take leads? Or is it different in every situation? I need agents to take leads on my 2nd channel because it's blowing up and it's just me now. I've been getting a lot of reach outs for rentals. What do you typically do with those? I try to give them ideas of where to look but gently tell them that rentals aren't my jam. When you first started out what did you use to edit your videos? also which is your favorite camera phone mic? I send them to an agent in my market that does rentals and then stay in contact with them on a quarterly call. Is Tube Buddy still highly recommended? And is there a trick to writing a good description? Is there a live event in October? Posting my first video in a couple of days. What are your top 5 must-dos and don'ts? Do you think there's a benefit to doing videos outdoor? I noticed a lot of people are only indoors. I like seeing the town personally.Should I use any links like a relocation guide that collects info?I had a customer share a link to one of my videos on facebook. The videos shot up. Should I unlist it? Don't want it to screw up my channel. These are just a few of the questions that were posed during our live Q&A podcast, and you're about to hear all of the answers, so stay tuned!

I'll tell you why. Demand. Creating a list of 1000's of people that want to work with you allows you to raise your prices SIGNIFICANTLY. My whole life changed thanks to my two closest mentors: My dad and my previous boss Uri Argov. From my dad, I learned the importance of action and I applied this bias to my business. This led me to meet Uri who taught me everything I now know about building a great culture (even when the company had 100s of employees, he was still personal with everybody. He never left a call or a request unanswered and was obsessively invested in the well-being of his employees.)I'm eternally grateful for the lessons they taught me but I'm not perfect and I've also made a lot of mistakes by not following their advice all the time. If you want to learn how I dealt with the biggest mistakes and failures in my life, check out my guest appearance on the Professional Failures Podcast! Here's what we covered on the show:

ACHIEVING GOALS AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OPPORTUNITIES FT. (KEVEN PIMENTEL) WITH (ALEX QUIN) | (EPISODE #78) Episode Summary: In today's podcast episode, Host, Alex Quin, discusses the art of setting goals and taking advantage of opportunities with Kevin Pimentel. They also discuss how your circle of influence affects your goal setting and how to keep pushing when you feel like you can't anymore.Wisdom Nuggets: Life isn't always going to go the way you want it, but you can always choose how to react to the hand you're dealt. In today's economy, it might seem like there are limited opportunities available, but if you're willing to work hard and be creative, there are always ways to create your own opportunities. When chasing your goals, It's important to have an accountability coach or someone in your corner who will believe in you and help you stay on track with your goals. The law of attraction is a powerful tool that can help you manifest your dreams into reality, but it's important to remember that you still have to take action in order to make your dreams come true.Podcast Outline: [00:44] We're back. We're back. It's been what? A few months. Yeah, this was planned yesterday![04:10] Just to give everybody context, you run a marketing company. I run a marketing company. We're both digital marketers. That's how we make money. Correct. You may see us doing a bunch of other, but we make money making money for people online.[05:34] It's funny how circumstance can determine possibilities. Right. Because a lot of times I think we get carried away with thinking, you know, it's like the whole thing, everything happens at the right time. [07:24] How many people actually write their goals down? Like on paper, on a notebook. And let's say like this year's goals, this quarter's goals, next year's goals, the year after that. And once I get those goals, then what?[08:05] Because sometimes just having someone that you have to report to in that sense where it gives you that challenge to be like, I have to get this done, cuz there's someone who actually knows what's up and they're gonna be like, yo, so did you get this done?[09:22] I mean like it got to the point where it was like I already got there, and I remember talking to the coach, and they said, wonderful.[09:57] There's that thing they say that luck is prep. When preparation meets opportunity. Luck is when hard work. Yeah. Hard work meets opportunity. [12:12] And then you see people that feel good for your, like, for your accomplishments or feel good for the things that you're doing. You usually see those people growing with you as well. So that it's very mindful. [13:12] Some people pursue something that makes them money.[16:21] You have to like, if you're doing business, like you really gotta think about like other things other than money and business, otherwise, eventually, you'll just find yourself like sitting on a mountain of money probably.[21:59] So there's this book called? It talks about thinking time. I, I can't, it's called the road less stupid.[24:41] Do some research, right? Who are the winners? Why do they fail? Who failed? And why did they fail?[27:45] Life is not always gonna be the way it is right now. So you always wanna brace for impact. You always wanna prepare for this. Wanna prepare for that? Not thinking negatively, but also knowing, Hey, if we're in times of abundance, for example, let's say right now, instead of going crazy, how can I make sure that when there is an abundance, I still could continue to live this way maybe.[32:08]But the point is to surround yourself with these kinds of influencers, start with the ones that you can actually control. So you have podcasts, you listen to, you have certain people on videos,[35:13] So if you can imagine a building in front of you, that's great, but you gotta go grab those bricks. Right. And you gotta lay 'em down, you gotta put the concrete, and then you gotta actually build it.[35:43] I think the law of attraction has gotten a bad reputation in some way. Right? Because people think that if you just wish for something long enough or you meditate for something long enough, it's gonna happen.[48:55]Well, what if you're a tribe in the jungle that's, you know, in their own system, what if you're in a completely different sociological situation that doesn't have anything to do with the way that this world, this country works and it's different belief systems. [50:22]Thomas Sowell and Sowell spelled S O W E L L. I believe it is. This man has, has truly revolutionized the way that I see race theory and the political realm.[1:04:04] Thank you for joining me on this episode of the hustle inspires hustle podcast.Power Quotes: “Get good at what you want to get good at.
