This submission is based around how the experience of youth in the world today has been guided by both the negative and positive effects of social media. The students who partook in its creation went into detail about how social media acts as both a catalyst for social movements and a way to remain in contact over the past year of social distancing as well as how it has influenced the increase in hate speech, depression, and ironically, isolation in society. Tasawwar, Marina, and Ryan, the creators of the podcast, chose this topic because they have grown up as the first generation where social media has always existed. It is so engrained in their lives, and so are its problems. This podcast episode provided them the opportunity to analyze these issues and ask themselves how they want to solve them and make changes in the world around them.
