Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. It's All Gonna Be Okay Reflections on the ongoing government shutdown, now in its 21st day, framing it as a result of Democratic obstructionism. Clay and Buck also discuss President Donald Trump's $250 million White House ballroom renovation, joking about Clay’s dancing skills and the broader implications of the renovation. A major segment focuses on the broken ceasefire in Gaza, with Buck emphasizing that Hamas remains unchanged and peace is impossible while its leadership remains intact. The hosts also highlight Judge Jeanine Pirro’s defense of Edward “Big Balls,” a man who intervened in a carjacking incident, portraying him as a patriotic hero. The show then shifts to political media, mocking Karine Jean-Pierre’s book and criticizing the broader trend of Biden administration officials publishing memoirs. Clay and Buck argue that these books reveal a lack of awareness or integrity regarding President Biden’s cognitive decline. A significant portion of Hour 1 centers on the heated New York City mayoral race. Curtis Sliwa refuses to drop out despite pressure, which Clay argues will ensure the election of progressive candidate “Mamdani.” The hosts debate whether Andrew Cuomo would be a better alternative and explore the strategic implications for the Republican Party. They suggest that a Momani victory could benefit national GOP efforts by making far-left politics more visible and unpopular in battleground states. The discussion includes commentary on Bill Ackman, down-ballot Republican candidates, and the broader impact on upstate New York. NYC Mayor's Race New York City mayoral race, where Curtis Sliwa faces mounting pressure to drop out to prevent a victory by far-left candidate Zohran Mamdani. The New York Post’s front-page plea for Sliwa to “just walk away” underscores the urgency felt by conservatives. Buck and Clay debate whether Andrew Cuomo would be a better alternative, despite his controversial record on bail reform and COVID-19 policies. They also discuss the broader political ramifications, suggesting that a Mamdani win could energize Republican campaigns in New Jersey, Virginia, and beyond. Stripper Teachers The fallout from a Chicago elementary school teacher who made a gesture mimicking the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a “No Kings” protest. Clay argues that public school teachers should be held to a moral standard and that such behavior warrants termination. This sparks a lively debate with listeners calling in to defend or challenge the idea, including humorous and serious takes on whether teachers should be allowed to moonlight as strippers or work at Hooters. The hosts also revisit the Jimmy Kimmel controversy and the broader issue of free speech versus professional accountability. They emphasize that First Amendment protections do not guarantee immunity from consequences in the workplace, especially when public trust is at stake. This leads into a discussion of COVID-era hypocrisy, including the absurd restrictions placed on athletes like Kyrie Irving and the shifting public narrative around vaccine mandates. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is praised for acknowledging that Kyrie was right to resist the COVID shot, a stance that was once widely condemned. Dishonest Democrats Trump’s East Wing renovation, including a ballroom project and a humorous historical anecdote about JFK’s infamous White House pool parties. The hosts use this to critique the media’s long-standing romanticization of Democratic figures like JFK and FDR, highlighting how past administrations manipulated public perception with the help of a compliant press. The conversation shifts to Trump’s speech on the shutdown, where he praises OMB Director Russ Vought—nicknamed “Darth Vader”—for cutting Democrat priorities and wasteful spending. Clay and Buck argue that the shutdown has allowed the administration to eliminate unnecessary programs, particularly in blue states, and that Democrats are struggling to justify their resistance. They mock Chuck Schumer’s attempt to frame the shutdown as a Republican failure, labeling it the “Schumer Shutdown” and pointing out the hypocrisy of Democrats who once promised Obamacare would lower healthcare costs. Should SNAP benefits cover soda and candy? Six states get federal approval to exclude them, and Sarah and Beth debate whether this is smart public health policy or government overreach—wrestling with the tension between the "nutrition" and "assistance" parts of the program's mission. Should tax dollars subsidize products that make people less healthy? Sarah and Beth explore the "common sense politics" of restricting junk food purchases, Sarah's personal experience using SNAP cards during COVID, and whether the Biden administration should have approved state waivers as experiments instead of blocking them. Is the soda industry the real villain? Sarah calls soda "poison" and predicts it will be viewed like cigarettes in decades to come, while Beth argues the government should regulate the industry upstream rather than police individual purchases downstream. It's an Emmajority Report Tuesday on the Majority Report On today's show: U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins blames decades of farm consolidation for the rising cost of beef — an issue the Biden administration tried to address through an executive order promoting antitrust enforcement and support for small farms. But last August, Trump repealed that order, encouraging further consolidation in the agricultural sector. Meanwhile, American farmers are frustrated over Trump's decision to bail out Argentina with $40 billion and his tariff policies that pushed China to buy soybeans elsewhere, including from Argentina. And when reporters press Trump on the topic, he gets noticeably defensive. Justice correspondent for The Nation, Elie Mystal joins the program to discuss the gutting of the Voting Rights Act and other recent rulings by the Supreme Court. In the Fun Half: Laura Ingraham hosts two "independent journalists" who claim that SEIU representatives were claiming to recruit "youths" into the DSA at the No Kings Rallies over the weekend. A clip from 2016 where RFK, Jr perfectly defines how Trump is building a vicious Batya Ungar-Sargon claims Trump has no history of racism only for Keith Boykin to rattle off a list of Trump's racist activity spanning six decades. Join Jim and Greg for the Tuesday 3 Martini Lunch as they consider the stunning silence as Hamas slaughters Gazans in the streets, Andrew Cuomo trying to woo Republican voters and shift the blame if he loses, and Karine Jean-Pierre still gaslighting us on Joe Biden's ability to be president.First, they shake their heads at the global indifference as Hamas terrorists murder Palestinians in Gaza's streets, with President Trump being one of the few world leaders to call it out. Jim explains why the world erupts when Israel fights Hamas but stays silent when Hamas slaughters its own people.Next, they roll their eyes at Andrew Cuomo's attempt to reinvent himself as a “moderate” in the New York City mayoral race. Cuomo is already setting up excuses to blame GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa if far-left candidate Zohran Mamdani wins. Jim isn't buying it and details why Cuomo's outreach to Republicans rings hollow. Finally, they get a kick out of former Biden White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announcing she left the Democratic Party because of how badly it treated Joe Biden following his disastrous debate performance last year. She also still insists Biden was definitely physically and mentally capable of being president for another four years. Please visit our great sponsors:Get 20% off your first purchase of classic menswear. The Trump administration has moved to axe many Biden-era green initiatives. One project impacted is in Middletown, Ohio — the hometown of Vice President JD Vance. Environmentalists had hoped that the conversion of a steel plant there from coal to hydrogen-powered furnaces could be a blueprint for future eco-friendly upgrades, but that project has been canceled. Also on the show: collective bargaining rights for Uber and Lyft drivers and a U.S.-Australia alliance concerning rare earth metals.

Over the weekend we got lots of good news. I didn't mention No Kings must yesterday, but it's officially a bust.Democrats big bragging point is “nobody got arrested”. They want to present themselves as civilized. That's a testament to us, not to them. We didn't disrupt their nonsense. For us, their “protest” was business as usual, so we went on with our lives. They claim that 7 million people protested at 2600 events. I think this is likely the actual number of people who voted for Biden.USA Today said before the events that they we expected to be “boisterous, joyful”. Former National Security Advisor John Bolton has been indicted on 18 felony counts for allegedly mishandling and transmitting classified information, some of which was reportedly accessed by hackers linked to Iran. The investigation, which began under the Biden administration, followed standard Justice Department procedures and was not politically directed — despite what Bolton and his defenders claim. Prosecutors allege Bolton shared sensitive information with his wife and daughter over non-governmental messaging apps while drafting a memoir, and later failed to disclose classified material on a hacked personal account. Jimmy and Americans' Comedian Kurt Metzger note that the case has drawn attention for its contrast with the Trump and Biden classified document controversies, with many observers highlighting Bolton's past calls for harsh punishment against others accused of similar offenses. Plus a segment on CNN host Christiane Amanpour being forced to apologize for telling the truth about the comparative treatment of Israeli and Palestinian captives. Also featuring Mike MacRae and Stef Zamorano. And a phone call from JD Vance!
3. US Intelligence Successes vs. Policy Failures Leading to the 2022 Invasion. Serhii Plokhy (Professor of Ukrainian History at Harvard University) details the period leading to the February 2022 invasion, where Russia positioned troops along the border, while the Biden administration publicly ruled out sending US troops or weapons to Ukraine. This policy is identified as a "colossal misjudgment" of Putin. Although US intelligence successfully reported Kremlin war plans almost in real time, hoping to deter Putin, little was done to militarily strengthen Ukraine. The prevailing Western assessment—that Kyiv would fall quickly and Ukraine would be overrun within a week—was based on a massive miscalculation that underestimated the Ukrainian military and people's resolve. Vladimir Putin framed the war using historical claims, stating that Russians and Ukrainians are "one people." This belief, rooted in 19th-century Russian imperial ideas, led to the flawed expectation that 150,000 to 200,000 troops would be sufficient and that Ukrainians would welcome them. Putin's central aim, consistent since the 2014 war, remains stopping Ukraine's Western drift and forcing it into the Russian-controlled Eurasian Union. The countdown to the current war began after President Zelensky, who was an unlikely war leader elected in 2019, refused to implement the Minsk agreements according to Putin's destabilizing agenda during their meeting in Paris in December 2019.
8. The Misreading of Russia: Ideology and the Insufficiency of Alliances The debate over whether Ukraine should join the EU or NATO fundamentally misses the core issue: Russia's unwavering ideological belief that it must dominate and control Ukraine. If Russians are driven by this revanchist, neo-imperialist ideology, they will continue to seek control regardless of Ukraine's alliances, potentially through misinformation or political interference. American administrations (including Obama, Trump, and Biden) and many Western European powers have consistently misread Russia, treating it as rational or transactional, and thus failed to take its ideological goals seriously. This lack of understanding about Russia's commitment to control Ukraine means that any proposed "settlement" that does not acknowledge Ukraine as an independent state is doomed. Countries like the Baltics and Poland, which have hands-on experience dealing with Russia, correctly recognized the persistent threat but were often dismissed as overly dramatic.1855 CRIMEA Retry
2. The Colossal Misjudgment: Underestimating Ukraine and Putin's Imperial Ambitions. Serhii Plokhy (Professor of Ukrainian History at Harvard University) covers the lead-up to the 2022 full-scale invasion, noting Russia's military buildup in 2021 while President Biden publicly stated that no US troops or weapons would be sent to Ukraine, which constituted a "colossal misjudgment of Putin." Despite the lack of meaningful preparatory military aid for Ukraine, US intelligence performed exceptionally well, accurately predicting the timing of the war and releasing this intelligence in real time, hoping to "shame" Putin. The expectation that Kyiv would fall within days reflected a profound misjudgment: underestimating the resolve of the Ukrainian state and people, and overestimating the Russian military's capacity. To justify his actions, Putin built an argument to the Russian people based on a "misreading of history," reviving 19th-century Russian imperial ideas that claimed Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians constituted a single whole. This false belief led to the expectation that Ukrainians would welcome Russian troops with flowers, rather than weapons. Putin's consistent goal since 2014 was to stop Ukraine's Western trajectory and integrate it into the Russian-controlled Eurasian Union. When President Zelensky refused Putin's demands regarding the implementation of the Minsk agreements in Paris in December 2019, many observers mark this moment as the countdown to the 2022 invasion.
The swiftness and severity with which the Trump Administration has tried to impose its will on higher education came as a shock to many, not least university presidents and faculties from Harvard to U.C.L.A. But for conservatives this arena of cultural conflict has been a long time coming. The staff writer Emma Green has been speaking with influential figures in the current Administration as well as in the larger conservative movement about how they mapped out this battle for Donald Trump's return to power. “There's a recognition among the people that I interviewed,” Green tells David Remnick, “that the Administration cannot come in and script to universities: this is what you will teach and this is the degrees that you will offer, and just script it from top to bottom. First of all, that would be not legally possible. And it also, I think in some ways, violates core instincts that conservatives have around academic freedom, because a lot of these people have been on élite campuses and had the experience of being told that their views weren't acceptable.” Green also speaks with James Kvaal, an education official who served in both the Biden and Obama Administrations, and May Mailman, a conservative education-policy activist who worked in the Trump White House and coördinated its attacks against universities. “When you have federal grants, you do not need to be funding racism and racial hierarchies and violence and harassment,” Mailman told Green. “I think that line is: do what you wanna do, but we don't want to have to fund it.” Emma Green's “Inside the Trump Administration's Assault on Higher Education” was published on October 13, 2025. Wahhaj has preached jihad abroad and called for an Islamic nation in America through political activism. Bryan cites the UAE's foreign minister warning that “Western naïveté about radical Islam will destroy us.” Hamas Terrorist Arrested in Louisiana: An illegal immigrant from Gaza, Mahmoud al-Muhtadi, who joined the October 7th Hamas attacks, was living in the U.S. as a Biden-approved resident. ICE also arrested a Texas man offering bounties to kill agents, and a Michigan mayor defended naming a street after a Hamas sympathizer. Bryan warns, “These are the people we've let in — and they want to destroy this country.” DHS Embraces “Re-Migration” Policy: The Department of Homeland Security announced plans to strip citizenship from naturalized extremists, arguing that fraudulent applications and post-naturalization crimes justify “de-naturalization and return.” Critics call it racist; Bryan calls it overdue. Trump's Expanding War on Narco-Terror: The U.S. Navy sank another cartel vessel near Venezuela, killing three Marxist rebels linked to Colombia's ELN. Colombian President Gustavo Petro — himself a former terrorist — protested the strike, but Trump said Petro “doesn't want to mess with the United States.” Senator Rand Paul demanded congressional oversight, sparking debate over executive war powers. China's Internal Purge and the Mineral Wars: President Xi Jinping removed nine generals in the largest purge since Mao, signaling espionage and internal fractures. Meanwhile, Trump meets Australia's Prime Minister Albanese at the White House today to announce joint investments in rare earth minerals and new Pacific supply chains. Britain's Prince Andrew says he will no longer use his royal titles amid renewed scrutiny over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The move follows allegations detailed in accuser Virginia Giuffre's upcoming posthumous memoir, as King Charles and Prince William reportedly urged him to step back further from royal duties. In a statement, Prince Andrew said “continued accusations” “distract from the work of the royal family,” though he continues to deny the allegations against him. Nationwide, state and local officials are pushing back against President Trump's plans to send the National Guard into various Democratic-run cities for crime and immigration enforcement support. One of the top Democrats leading the resistance is Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. Trump has recently said that he believes Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson should be arrested for what he believes is mismanagement of the Windy City. “Should we have a president who is threatening to jail his political opponents with no evidence of any wrongdoing, just that we oppose what he's trying to do to our country, which is to militarize our cities and turn us into an authoritarian regime?” Pritzker says. “I don't think that any American thinks that we ought to be jailing people just for their views.” In this week's episode of The Conversation, Pritzker joins POLITICO's Dasha Burns to denounce the Trump administration's immigration enforcement strategy, combat the administration's narratives surrounding cities like Chicago, and discuss the future of the Democratic Party. Plus, Fox News Senior White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich comes on to talk about the difference between covering the Trump and Biden administrations, her role on the White House Correspondents Association board and the Pentagon's attempts to impose new restrictions on reporters there.
‘There are real consequences to our physical and mental health'Katty Kay speaks to Dr Vivek Murthy, former US Surgeon-General about the challenge posed by loneliness and isolation in the modern world. Dr. Murthy, the first person of Indian descent in the post, was appointed during the second Obama administration. He then returned in 2021, serving until the beginning of this year. The Surgeon-General's job is to provide the American public with the best scientific information available on how to improve their health and reduce the risk of illness and injury. They also oversee the country's 6,000 public health professionals who respond to national health threats and public health crises. It was during his second term, under the Biden administration, that Dr. Murthy first started expressing concern about the impact of social media on the mental health and wellbeing of young people. He described the loneliness epidemic of social isolation as a risk to public health akin to smoking and diabetes. In this interview, he examines the scale of the challenge posed by loneliness and how artificial intelligence, or AI, on the one hand is being used to tackle it, but may also be simultaneously adding to the problem. I'm sure you've heard bits and pieces of the president's cabinet meeting the other day. I want to go into more detail on that in the next segment. But suffice it to say, I don't think there is any man who can showcase how bad Democrats are than President Trump. There is not a human being on earth who doesn't believe that President Trump should get the Nobel Peace prize. He doesn't need it. His place in world history has been cemented. Before I touch more on this, how do you think President Trump would have handled the exit from Afghanistan versus Biden, given their different approaches? The world sees the dichotomy between mediocrity and meritocracy. Ben Hunt returns to Excess Returns to break down the hidden risks building inside private credit and the parallels between today's “alternative asset managers” and the shadow banking system that triggered the 2008 financial crisis. Using the Godfather's Tessio as a metaphor for betrayal and broken trust, Ben explains how opacity, leverage, and narrative collapse can turn small defaults into systemic crises. 1. Middle East Peace Agreement & U.S. Foreign Policy The discussion opens with praise for Donald Trump’s foreign policy—his “peace through strength” approach ended a two-year war, freed hostages, and prevented global instability. Trump is decisive and feared by America’s enemies (Iran, Hamas, China, Russia), contrasting with Biden, whom they describe as “weak and appeasing.” Historical examples (ISIS defeat, strikes on Iranian targets, anti-Houthi and anti-Venezuelan actions) are cited as evidence of Trump’s assertive leadership. 2. Government Shutdown The conversation blames Democrats—specifically Senator Chuck Schumer—for the “Schumer Shutdown.” The speakers argue Republicans are trying to reopen the government, while Democrats obstruct funding. They highlight political theater surrounding an upcoming rally (“No King’s Rally”) and accuse Democrats of prioritizing political optics over public service. There’s commentary on Congressional pay during shutdowns, with a contrast drawn between Cruz “refusing his paycheck” and Democrats “continuing to collect theirs.” 3. Charlie Kirk’s Death & Legacy This section memorializes Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, fictionalized here as assassinated and posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Trump. We explore Christian forgiveness, with Kirk’s widow, Erica, forgiving Kirk's killer during the televised service. The narrative blends religious devotion, martyrdom, and political faith, presenting Kirk as a “martyr for truth and freedom,” comparable to figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Lincoln, and Saint Peter. Trump’s and Erica’s differing views on “loving one’s enemies” are discussed as a theological and moral moment. 4. Interview with Eric Trump The final part is a conversation with Eric Trump, discussing: Legal battles faced by the Trump family (naming prosecutors like Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, Fani Willis, and Jack Smith). Financial strain (“$400 million defending ourselves against nonsense”). Perceived bias and corruption in the justice system. We then shift to personal reflections on Donald Trump as a father: Emphasis on discipline, hard work, no substance use, and humility despite wealth. Advice for parents: “Keep them poor, make them work early.” The conversation ends on a note of familial pride and loyalty. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. This week on the Mark Levin Show, President Trump has made clear several times while he was in the Middle East that he believes his order bombing the Iranian nuclear sites was pivotal in bringing about his peace deal, including the backing of Arab/Muslim countries and the release of the 20 hostages. We shouldn't forget the names of those in our country who unleashed a relentless, vicious, and deceitful campaign against the bombing of those Iranian nuclear sites and those of us who strongly encouraged and supported it. They also trashed Trump before he acted, claiming it would divide MAGA, lead to WWIII and the death of thousands of American troops and perhaps nuclear war with China and Russia, and that Netanyahu and the Jews were trying to drag our country into a war. These liars will be remembered forever as the buffoons that they are. Later, no, PM Benjamin Netanyahu didn't prolong the Gaza war for personal political gain, these claims overlook the strategic benefits of his persistence. Netanyahu has accepted a Trump-brokered deal on his stated terms: full hostage release, dismantling of Hamas's military and governance, and Israeli troops remaining to enforce it, with U.S. backing if needed. All antisemitic, racist, and bigoted messaging and other forms of communication should be aggressively condemned. Who cares if it's Young Republicans or Young Democrats, members of Congress, media that platforms and promotes such poison, organizations that invite bigots as speakers and debaters, podcasters, comedians, and on and on. It's disgusting that some of those condemning the Young Republicans in the Politico piece, who most certainly should be condemned and removed, are as guilty as they are with their headlines, storylines, and promotion of a long list of bigots. It's sinister. The likes of Tucker Carlson, Candice Owens, Steve Bannon, and their ilk, as well as their apologists are being mainstreamed do have an impact on the minds of too many young people. Where are the top Republicans denouncing them? John Bolton has been indicted on 18 counts by a federal grand jury in Maryland for mishandling classified information, including 8 counts of transmission and 10 counts of retention of national defense information. But this indictment is not retribution but a serious breach by someone who knew better, despite the Biden administration previously dropping a related investigation. Learn more about your ad choices. There's no end in sight for the current government shutdown, which entered its third week on Wednesday. While Democrats are clinging to their $1.5 trillion demands—and Republicans, for once, are refusing to capitulate—there has been a palpable shift in the government shutdown state of play. This week, Rep. Mike Haridopolos, R-Fla., joins “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss the evolving dynamics of shutdown politics. “Historically it should be a surprise,” that Democrats have opted to shut down the government, Haridopolos told The Daily Signal. “The Democrats historically have always got along with a clean [continuing resolution],” he added. That's especially the case in recent history, as Democrats have voted upwards of a dozen times for a nearly identical continuing resolution that kept the government open and running on spending levels set during former President Joe Biden's administration. To add insult to injury, the continuing resolution that would last through Nov. 21 was negotiated by Republican and Democrat appropriators. “We negotiated this ahead of time,” Haridopolos told The Daily Signal. “[House Appropriations Chairman] Tom Cole sat down, of course, with the House appropriators and Democrat appropriators, and said, ‘We're going to have a clean [continuing resolution], what else do you need? We want to do it till January.” Democrats, however, wanted the continuing resolution to expire in November. “We acquiesced and said, ‘Okay, fine, November 21,'” Haridopolos continued. “We negotiated. So this drama about ‘They never had a seat at the table' is wrong.” Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2284199939 The Signal Sitdown: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL2026390376 Problematic Women: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL7765680741 Victor Davis Hanson: https://megaphone.link/THEDAILYSIGNAL9809784327 Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/intent/user?screen_name=DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1 Subscribe on your favorite podcast platform and never miss an episode. On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, John Bolton has been indicted on 18 counts by a federal grand jury in Maryland for mishandling classified information, including 8 counts of transmission and 10 counts of retention of national defense information. But this indictment is not retribution but a serious breach by someone who knew better, despite the Biden administration previously dropping a related investigation. Also, Rep Elise Stefanik responded to a NY Times reporter's inquiry about her labeling Zohran Mamdani a jihadist. She responded in the best way possible – “I call Zohran Mamdani a jihadist because he is. Zohran Mamdani is a raging antisemite.” NY Times wants to give Mamdani cover, just like they did with the Holocaust. Later, there's a Wall Street Journal article portraying the Trump administration's IRS overhaul—installing allies in the criminal division and reducing lawyer involvement—as a means to politically probe left-leaning groups. It's necessary to investigate George Soros-funded organizations tied to terrorism, Marxism, and efforts to overthrow the U.S. and other nations. This move address serious threats beyond politics, and it's a good thing that the Treasury Secretary is pursuing it. Afterward, Democrat-led cities and states are defying federal immigration laws by declaring themselves sanctuaries. President Trump is going to have to invoke the Insurrection Act—used 28 times historically, such as by Eisenhower against segregationists—to counter resistance from governors and mayors who block ICE and incite violence. Every Israeli-Palestinian peace deal has failed. Could Trump's be any different? On Oct. 10, the Israeli cabinet approved a cease-fire deal brokered by the Trump administration, Turkey and Qatar. Since then, the living Israeli hostages have come home. Nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israel have been freed. Israeli forces have partially withdrawn from the Gaza Strip, and they're allowing in more desperately needed aid. This is finally, hopefully, the end of this war.But that was just the first part of the deal. The next phase is a lot more ambitious — and ambiguous. And while President Trump said the region would now “live, God willing, in peace for all eternity,” history would suggest otherwise.Robert Malley has worked on Middle East policy under President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden and President Bill Clinton. Hussein Agha negotiated on the Palestinian side, working under both Yasir Arafat, the first president of the Palestinian Authority, and the P.A.'s current president, Mahmoud Abbas. Together they wrote a sweeping new history of attempts at peace, “Tomorrow Is Yesterday: Life, Death, and the Pursuit of Peace in Israel/Palestine.” They join me to examine what could go right — or wrong — as the rest of the deal takes shape.Mentioned:Tomorrow Is Yesterday by Hussein Agha and Robert MalleyBook Recommendations:One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El AkkadSay Nothing by Patrick Radden KeefeDirty Hands by Jean-Paul SartreThe Just Assassins by Albert CamusThe History of the Peloponnesian War by ThucydidesThe Man Without Qualities by Robert MusilHollywood Babylon by Kenneth AngerThoughts?
