The Ten Year Enterprise "The Podcast" is a weekly pod session series featuring entrepreneurs, creatives and go-getters as they travel along the journey from 0-1. This is part of the 10 Year Enterprise.
Finally Evan! I'm finally posting this thing. It only took more than half a year, but it's here LOL! Evan Vlach was the very last podcast we recorded in 2019 prior to the current hiatus. But man it was good to finish off on a strong note. Such a useful and practical discussion about business and just how to make it work.
NEW PODCAST! Huge thanks to you Tyler Andrade for sharing your story and how you've used your experiences to shape your character. If there's a main takeaway from this episode, it's this: "When the training wheels come off, that's when the wealth rolls in." Wealth not in just monetary terms, but wealth and growth in the areas of life that really matter.
Excited for this one! Thank you to Samuel Parkinson for coming on the podcast to talk about all that goes into starting a business, from saying no to all the distractions (something I struggled with for a very long time — and still do to a degree!), making promises with yourself to get where you want to go, and knowing your value and getting serious with your work.
Another rad one comin at ya. This time I got to sit down with Joel Thompson, who is now currently killing the game at The Rich Barber in LA. It was a pleasure sitting down with him and hearing his story. If you are needing some motivation at this moment in your life, check out our full conversation and take note: the easiest (and in all reality the only) way to get what you want is to go all in, burn your bridges, and figure it out as you go.
Wow! It's been a minute...but the #TYEPodcast is alive and well. I am so stoked to finally be sharing this conversation from when I sat down with Patrick Harbison last year. Patrick had so many good things to say, I really hope you gain some value from our discussion. He touched on his experience getting into media, not letting fear of failure keep you from trying (notice the theme strong throughout every single conversation I post here!), and the balance of putting your all into what you do, while needing to let go of control and ego.
Eric Rebelo bringing some fire today. I got to sit down with him recently and loved hearing about his journey as an entrepreneur. He's got some good things to share on what it means to build your personal brand and realign your identity with who you want to be. Check it out, and go follow @ericjrebelo on Instagram!
Check out my conversation with Nikki B (@nikkibgolf on Instagram) to hear her story of growth and how she went after her dreams by creating her own opportunities to get to where she's at today. Nikki's best advice: take matters into your own hands, and don't be afraid to share your wildest dream. Huge thanks to Nikki for coming on the show!
Making a conscious decision to learn and grow each day is something that few of us have. // Josue Garcia knows what's up. I'm glad I finally had a chance to sit down with this guy on #TYEPodcast Episode 31. Josue captures the essence of the entrepreneurial spirit, driving himself to feel the fire by constantly putting himself in "do-or-die" situations. Go give him a follow on Instagram at @heyitsjosue to get motivated by his daily goal-setting and make sure to reach out to @theuncommonweddings if you're in need of a wedding video!!
Stoked to share a new episode of the #TYEPodcast with you, with guest Paul Pearcey of @bxactv. We had an awesome conversation on all things entrepreneurship, from going through failure and learning from those mistakes, to the gratification of doing what you love every single day. Give it a listen! And if you haven't checked out Paul's clothing brand yet, treat yourself and grab a rad t-shirt.
Anddddd.... we're back! So stoked to share this next podcast with you. Huge value in this episode with Shelby Elias of United Wholesale Lending. He shared some of his back story of developing an entrepreneurial spirit at a very young age — selling marbles and flipping dirt bikes, to flipping his first house when he was in college. Give it a listen if you are needing some motivation in your own life, to look past your circumstances and show up with a willingness to learn. Thanks again to Shelby for coming on the show!
Happy Friday, y'all! #TYEPodcast Ep. 28 just dropped (finally)! Great conversation with possibly the best dressed man in Sacramento: Ryan Douglas Hammonds of R. Douglas Custom Clothier. Got to hear a little bit about his back story and what his biggest encouragement would be to others who are just starting out. Thanks again for coming on the podcast, Ryan! ----- And do yourself a favor: next time you need to update your wardrobe, make sure visit Ryan's shop first!

Check it out and go follow @themilsedition on Instagram if you want to add some daily motivation and positivity in your life.
New podcast for y'all to check out! Such a great conversation with Sacramento native, Alexandra Cunningham of the Sacramento Ballet and Capital Dance Project. Hey, hey, hey! New podcast out! Finally got to sit down with Joe Luna of Boy's Bakery. Give it a listen and find out how Boy's Bakery came to be. Joe took the desire to celebrate family heritage and culture and formed it into a business fueled by his passion for baking and creating in the culinary field. We got to talk about what it looks like to keep the side hustle alive, from pop ups to wholesale partnerships, for the simple joy of serving the community and breaking bread together.
Hey y'all, comin at ya with a fresh new episode of the #TYEPodcast! On this episode I sat down with Rebecca of @studioplumb and we really got into the ups and downs of entrepreneurship and pushing through the things that come up along the way. We also touched on overcoming fear of public speaking (everyone's favorite thing to do), and her efforts to cultivate a "community based on love" in Sacramento.
Stoked to share another episode of the #TYEPodcast with you! I got to sit down with James of Morgan's Mill and we shed some light on how important it is to surround yourself with the right people and support. James said it best: "Nobody accomplishes anything without somebody else's help." Check it out, and take a moment to reflect on those in your life who have cheered you on and helped you climb that mountain.
New podcast just dropped! On this episode, Isaiah Ford and I talked about the reality of grinding behind the scenes, painting a picture of what it takes to achieve that coveted "overnight success." // i.e. putting in the work day after day, to eventually see the outcome you want 10 years down the line. #TenYearEnterprise Follow Isaiah: instagram.com/zaythe_barber Follow Wesley: instagram.com/wesleyscoville wesleyscoville.com Wesley's Agency: instagram.com/blackfieldmedia blackfieldmedia.com
Hey y'all, I have a new one for ya! And boy, is it a good one. If you want to learn what it really takes to go out on your own and create your own future, this one is for you. On this podcast, Ginger Elizabeth Hahn and I explored what it really takes and the very unglamorous realities of building a successful business. From hustling on a street corner (literally!), to building a multi-location brand, we talked through the ups and downs and what it means when you have truly found your passion. Hint: it's not all sunshine and roses. It takes real grit, dedication and a willingness to say, "I will succeed at all costs to make it work." In today's world of social media so many people talk about making a difference or getting "involved" in the community so that they can share their latest Instagram Story of them "doing good." However, most of the time they're blowing smoke. Nicholas Haystings + Didier Mponte of Square Root Academy, on the other hand, are the real deal. We talked about the mentality of taking it upon themselves to create change rather than waiting for someone else, and what Square Root is doing to educate and support the surrounding communities. It always takes longer than you think. The moment you feel like you have momentum, a wrench gets thrown in and derails the whole thing. You think, “Ok, that hurt, but I just need to get back up again.” A little time passes, you get back that momentum and when you’re not paying attention.. BOOM! Punched in the face again. And then again. And then again. And in so doing you begin to wonder if you’re doing it the wrong way and if there is an easier way. THIS is the crucial time where bad decisions are made. So many of my bad decisions have been born out of lack patience. You think the journey should be short, so every “shortcut” on the road you see, you take. But in so doing you forget that you are paving your own journey and there are no shortcuts. Those “shortcuts” are really just dead end roads which take you further from your ultimate goal. Many times you have to completely retrace your steps to get back on the right track. Patience is the game. Patience will provide you all of the protection you need to get you where you need to go.
Ever since I was young, I always had trouble focusing on one thing for an extended period of time. And for the longest time I assumed that it was due to some kind of learning disability. I would find something I was interested in, commit to it fully, but I could never execute on the level that I hoped to, and simultaneously some new thing would catch my interest. For so much of my youth and into young adulthood, I struggled to pinpoint where I fit in. Finally, once I reached my late twenties, I discovered that I didn’t have to focus on just one thing. That fact was a complete game-changer. Rather than trying to fit myself into a mold that others created, I was dropped into this new world which now seems endless to me. I don’t think the entrepreneur lifestyle is for everyone. And I think we are going to see many who claim to be entrepreneurs now will eventually fade away because it won’t always be the hip new cool thing to do. For me, however, I love to start things. I love to begin with nothing and build something. And the fact that I can dedicate myself to that process over the next 10, 20, 30, 40 years has created massive amounts of freedom.
Since the start of this podcast I have wanted to host my good friend and mentor Lucky Rodrigues of Identity Coffees. I met Lucky during a huge turning point and transition in my life where I began to seriously take up the reins of entrepreneurship. Working for Lucky during those years helped formulate how I wanted to eventually start my own business and I began to seriously contemplate what it would mean to finally jump off the cliff of “playing it safe.” During podcast we discussed the process of discovering entrepreneurship for ourselves, and what it takes to build great company culture. Running a business is not 9 to 5. It is 24/7, 7 days a week. This is why it is imperative to absolutely love what you do. I truly believe that burnout does not come from overworking yourself, it is a product of not being completely sold out for what you do. The commitment is all-consuming so you must know that this is where you are meant to be. Check out this episode with the Katnik sisters of TEAMride Studios. We discussed the fight to overcome fear, what it takes to run a business, why they chose Sacramento as the launching pad for their business, and more. I’ve been wanting to start a podcast since I started Black Field Media four years ago. And so, after putting this on the back burner for years, we are finally up and running. While it may not be perfect (YET!), it is the first step to making this thing a real reality. My first guest is Will Thompson, where we talk about growth, building community and what it means to be a leader. Give it a listen and please let me know your thoughts!
