Welcome to TheoCentric! The podcast focused on keeping God central in our thoughts about Him.This episode is an introduction to what we will be doing with this podcast. It is an effort to recover and promote a biblical view of the God of the Bible while getting our attention off of ourselves and putting it back on Christ.

God has spoken! But sadly not too many people are hearing Him. Far too many of us have let our bibles sit around and gather dust and God's voice to us goes unheard. Do you want to hear God speak, read your bible. Do you want to know how to read the bible? Well then, this episode is for you! We're laying the ground work for reading and interpreting the bible.

All reading of the bible leads to interpreting the bible. Paul told Timothy to, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." (2 Tim 2:15) We too have been charged to do the same. It's not our book, it's not our message, therefore, we don't have the right to tamper with it. We must do all we can to reach proper conclusions in scripture, failing to do so can damage others and ourselves. How we interpret scripture is of most importance. Let's do it well.

"The Bible is a 2000 year old book, there's no way it can be relevant to us today!" Well, that's not true. God's word is always relevant no matter the time or place. We have to know how to apply the Bible to our lives so that we will be the most built up by it and grow to glorify God more because of it. It's not easy, but with prayer and wisdom, it becomes clear what God is saying for us today through the scriptures.

The Bible has one story, about one person, and that's Jesus. 66 books, written by over 40 different authors, in 3 languages, over 2500 years all tell of God's plan to save his people from their sins and bring them to himself. What is the gospel? Why does it matter? The gospel is the message of what God has done through Jesus's life, death, and resurrection to bring all things to himself. It is the message of our salvation. It is the "good news" that God is making all things new! In this episode we're talking about why Jesus had to die. The short answer to the question is that so you didn't have to. God, in his righteousness and love, sent Jesus to die in place of sinners. Not just to give them eternal life, but to satisfy his just wrath (propitiation) because we couldn't. God's love and justice, displayed in the death and resurrection of Christ, goes beyond our understanding. Could there have been another way? Did the Father HAVE TO kill his Son? We know that God is wise and good and all that he does will bring him the most glory and do us the most good. So join in as we break the ice on propitiation. What is redemption and what does it mean for the Christian? Just like the nation of Israel in Exodus needed to be freed from slavery so they could go and worship the Lord, we too need to be freed from slavery, to sin. It's good to know what you do. It's better to know why you do it. In this bonus episode, we talk about why TheoCentric exist and what the goals of the podcast are. Daniel wants TheoCentric to be an outlet that promotes sound, biblical doctrine and encourages Christians in knowing and studying what they believe instead of only taking it in from the preacher on Sunday mornings. The Christian faith faces many challenges from false believers inside the body and outright heretics that want to see the end of it. What we need is to be firmly grounded in the our belief, knowing the foundational principles of the faith and being able to tell that to others. Also, knowing the faith, studying theology, drives our Christian living. What good is having information but never using it? How do you know that you have a Christian worldview? Do you know you have a worldview? Each of has has a lens through which we see the world. We all understand things to be the way they are because of the assumptions that we have. This is a worldview. For the Christian, however, we must actively and intentionally develop our worldview because the world we live in and the messages it sends us are often contrary to the what God wants.Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by renewing our mind. This renewing doesn't happen on its own so we have to make the effort to examine our lives and see where it's out of line with the will of God revealed in Scripture. The Holiness of God is that which separates God from everything else. God is high above His creation and rules it in that way. The Holy God of all has called a people to Himself. This people is to be holy because He is holy. Holiness is shown in word and deed. It's also shown in our worship of God. We can tell a lot about how we think about God by how we worship. If we believe He's high and exalted is our worship truly reflective of that? Does our worship reflect His glory? Are we truly gathering to honor Him? Or do we gather to hear ourselves sing and talk? We like the feeling of being wanted and needed. It gives us purpose. It makes us feel valuable. But what do you do when you can't add value to someone else? Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. Our God does not change. In His attributes and personality He is who He always has been. The expensive theological word for this attribute of God is His IMMUTABILITY. All it means is that God does not change. There's no shadow of variation in Him, what you see is what you get. This is great to think about because we are surrounded by change in our lives from inside ourselves to the furthest reaches of our known universe.
