Thousands of people have been evacuated after a dam in the Russian-occupied Kherson region of Ukraine was breached on Tuesday. International intelligence organisations believe it is most likely the dam was deliberately targeted by Russian forces in an attempt to delay Ukraine's expected counteroffensive. NATO's secretary general has said the move demonstrates Russia's brutality. But Moscow denies being responsible for the damage to the dam. It insists Ukraine is to blame. On the Sky News Daily, Kimberley Leonard is joined by our international correspondent John Sparks, and Sean Bell, military analyst and former Air Vice-Marshal, to discuss the implications of the dam breach for the course of the war.

There's one thing about this episode that matters, and that's KJ Apa and Charles Melton giving us the biggest “dudes rock” episode of the series, and that's saying something. From bolting for Archie's hot rod, to their Spanish in unison, to Archie's funniest moment in Riverdale history, this episode is all Archie and Reggie. And, of course, another mystery to solve, which is still very nebulous but which feels like it's headed somewhere. Maybe. We discuss “Chapter 127: American Graffiti” this week on The Doghouse. On Episode 72 of the GMI Rocket show, we're diving into a tech company tackling corporate housing, including for international employees, with Vivi Himmel, CEO & Co-Founder of AltoVita For employees who travel around the world for work, whether on short projects or years-long assignments, they often stay in corporate housing, whether temporarily while they find longer-term accommodations, or for their entire international assignment. And this is the process that AltoVita is looking to disrupt, by giving employees a variety of choices (rather than that ONE apartment building or hotel that the company puts employees up in) and by creating a platform that makes booking these accommodations safe, secure, easy and transparent. Vivi herself has lived all around the world, and during her time in investment banking, traveled internationally for work time and again. Along with her co-founder, Karolina Saviova, they've lived in over 20 cities. So AltoVita is solving a problem they both faced, personally. So, here's what Vivi and I are going to be talking about: Vivi's early life, and how immigration was part of her family story Vivi's studies, early career in investment banking, and traveling for work How the idea for AltoVita came about, how she met her co-founder and how they started How AltoVita works, what problem it solves, and where the company is headed Vivi's thoughts on the future of corporate travel in a post-COVID world. A proposed jump in Airport fees could make flying unaffordable for a significant number travellers according to Air NZ boss, Greg Foran. Auckland Airport will start rolling out the graduated increases in landing charges from July, to help fund the its mult-billion dollar renovation plans; including integrating the domestic and international terminals, a new baggage system and airfield expansion. Over five years, domestic jet charges will increase 130 percent to $15.45 per pasener by 2027. International fees will nearly double to just over $46 per passenger, and domestic regional charges will increase 141 percent to $10.70. The state carrier and Qantas are the airport's largest customer and both object to the size of the increase. Air NZ chief executive Greg Foran says in the end customers will pay. It was New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu who made a very different announcement this week, saying he would not be running in the 2024 GOP primary race, surprising many who believed he would join the rapidly widening field of candidates. He joins the Rundown to explain why he chose not to run for president and what role he plans to play in 2024 instead. He later breaks down why he believes former President Trump isn't the strongest candidate for the GOP and the factors that make President Biden a weak candidate for reelection. Fox News contributor and former CIA station chief Daniel Hoffman joins the podcast to explain the espionage Hanssen conducted on behalf of the Soviet Union, the hunt to track down the mole within the agency, and why his spying was so detrimental to the national security of the United States. Plus, commentary by Chuck DeVore, vice president at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

When it comes to the stock market these days, many investors are asking a question reminiscent of an old song lyric: “Should I stay or should I go?” With a possible recession looming, is it time to bail out of the market? We'll talk about that with Cole Pearson on this Faith and Finance. Cole Pearson is President of Investment Solutions at OneAscent, which is a family of companies in the faith-based investing space, and an underwriter of this program.SHOULD I GET OUT OF THE MARKET? The problem with this particular question is that you then have to answer another question, which is … ”When do I get back in?”In times like these it's important to remember that ”Investing is about time IN the market, not TIMING the market.”One of the most powerful tools that can help combat fear and emotional decision-making with our investments is to have a philosophy or guiding principles that we determine ahead of time.At OneAscent, they employ 3 overarching principles – Values-Based, Globally Diversified, and Long-Term.VALUES BASED: God created us to be thoughtful stewards. And as stewards, we should consider aligning His assets with His principles and companies that bless people instead of causing harm.GLOBALLY DIVERSIFIED: Did you know diversification predates the stock market and modern portfolio theory? Ecclesiastes 11:2 says “Divide your portion to 7 or 8 for you know not what calamity may come”LONG TERM:Given time, maintaining a long-term perspective is key. And investors who talk with their advisor, choose the right allocation, and can stay the course in the long run, find the most success.According to a JP Morgan study from a few years ago, the average investor underperforms a moderate portfolio by about 3% annualized over 20 years. In other words, if you started with $100,000, over 20 years, the average investor misses out on $125,000 in growth, a difference of 78%. This is largely because the average investor makes below-average decisions when the going gets tough. Most investors don't have a better than 50/50 chance at being right on any particular decision; when to get out and when to get back in are two different market-timing decisionsTwo decisions that are both the flip of the coin only give you a 25% chance of being rightSHOULD INVESTORS WORRY ABOUT A RECESSION? Can anything be done to recession-proof one's portfolio? No portfolio is recession-proof, but there are things you can do to make your portfolio recession-friendly.Remember Ecclesiastes. Diversification is key. Some timely questions you might consider or ask your advisor about if you have one are:Do I have sufficient international exposure, in both developed and emerging markets? The past decade saw US stocks outperform International by an average of 6% per year but the long-term trend is more balanced. Valuation is one of the primary determinants of long-term returns; today international stocks are far less expensive than US stocks. US stocks trade at a P/E ratio of around 18x, but international stocks are around 13x earnings.Another would be whether I am investing in alternatives or non-traditional assets like gold, commodities, or hedging strategies to minimize volatility. Many times WE can be the biggest risk that our portfolios face – so minimizing volatility (or smoothing out the ride) can help us stay invested.BEAR MARKETSBear markets are a fact of life, so what is important is how an investor responds to them:You should not invest money that you need for next month's groceries.Mike Tyson famously said ‘everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face', and that's what a bear market can feel like. Here's what you can do:Take the opportunity to sell something at a loss if it would benefit your taxesRebalance your portfolio to align with your long-term plan.Evaluate your plan – make sure that you are still on track. Most importantly, don't make an emotional decision.Preparation and planning will allow investors to weather the storm and come out the other side.FAITH-BASED INVESTINGOneAscent approaches faith-based investing using the following steps: 1. ELIMINATE from our universe those companies whose products or practices are causing harm.2. EVALUATE companies to make sure they meet the client's investment objectives.3. ELEVATE companies who are making the world a better place.Thankfully faith-based investing is a maturing but also rapidly growing space within this industry. There are several great funds and options that have strong 10+ year track records. Even more exciting than that is that more and more great managers and funds are coming out each month giving investors who desire to align their faith and wealth options. For more information, visit OneAscent.com. On this program, Rob also answers listener questions: If you have a traditional IRA with a company like Vanguard and find that your money is supporting things you don't believe in, what are your alternative investment options? Can balance transfers be an effective way to pay down debt and avoid interest? What are the key differences between life insurance policies and annuities and which might be right for you?
