Nehemiah opens with the delivery of sad news. God's people are in trouble, and the city is in shambles. Nehemiah is moved to pray and seek God on behalf of his people. Anyone can read the “news” and see the trouble around us. But will we find our hearts broken for the people of God, so that we are moved to seek the Lord in prayer? Will we allow Him to open our eyes to how we may participate in the answer to the very prayers we pray?

This week we wrapped up the book of Ezra by seeing how God's people responded when called out for their compromise. Through godly sorrow, honest confession, and a holy sacrifice, we can undergo significant renewal when we have gotten way off course. May we posture our lives before the Lord in such a way that we can be corrected and changed when we lose our way.
Very good lesson from the KJV Bible!
Be Thankful to God Pt.2

Ezra is now confronted with the brokenness and sin of the people of God. Instead of blaming others, or ignoring the problem, he faces it head-on. Through this story, we get a powerful example of how we should deal with the brokenness in our own lives and in the church. May we all approach sin and repentance the way Ezra did with honesty, humility, and true godly sorrow, so that through the power and grace of Jesus we may be forgiven and changed.

Explaining the end of the tares, from the KJV Bible!
What if your vision of God has been wrongly skewed and you've actually missed out on who He *really* is? In this message, Pastor Krista Ortiz brings to light the truth of God's nature and helps us see Him for He actually is.
Just as Ezra was called to journey from Babylonia to Jerusalem, the Lord will often call us to risky journeys of faith. May we learn from Ezra's example to use wisdom to plan well in preparation, while ultimately trusting in the Lord and not our own strength. It's tempting to just leap out in faith unprepared, or give ourselves a false sense of security by trusting our own wisdom and planning. But God would have us plan and prepare, and then in prayer trust Him to guide and protect us all along the way.
Expression is creating through connection with the Lord! When you behold your Creator and reflect His image you express His nature! Welcome to Encounter! Terrence Malik has written and directed The Tree of Life, a sprawling story that starts in the 1960s, jumps to present-day and then goes back to the birth of the universe. And that's just in the first few minutes of the film. Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain are the O'Briens, a couple that learns their teenage son has died. Over the years it appears that they still haven't quite gotten over the loss. We go back and forth through their lives and see how their divergent philosophies shaped their son. We're making it sound complex, but it's actually not and you'll come away from the film with a good feeling. COMING ATTRACTIONS: In our next episode we look at the first of a couple of careers cut short; one by choice and the other, not. Reel 94 will feature Grace Kelly and her performances in Rear Window and To Catch a Thief. Join us, won't you?
Whether we choose to admit it or not, we're driven by some level of faith that something lies beyond our current plane of existence. Some of us simply hope so, some profess not to care, others will go wholeheartedly into some form of religion. And the search for God--however you view that particular concept--is a compelling one, especially when you tell a story about someone whose faith is being tested. To that end the Coen Brothers have come up with A Serious Man, the first of two films we'll be looking at in this episode. The Coens are known for cribbing from other stories to create their own tales, and in this case the Coens have come up with a story that will give you echoes of the Biblical story of Job. It's not as direct a pull as their using Homer's Odyssey as the germ of O Brother, Where Art Thou? but you'll still recognize the broader pieces of the tale. In the second half of the episode we'll look at a less-linear story in The Tree of Life.
How can followers of Christ be engaged with our secular culture without falling under its influence? And how can we resist the pressure to compromise? On this episode of The Verdict, Pastor John Munro shares practical guidance from the life of Daniel.
Jesus tells His followers that we are to be salt and light. But how are we to live and interact in a dark and often hostile culture? On this episode of The Verdict, Pastor John Munro discusses the rich example of Daniel who stood strong for God without compromise.

In Ezra chapter 7, we move into the period in Israel's history when Ezra leads a new wave of returning exiles. He brings with him a sound anchoring in the Word of God and needed reforms to the people of God. All that Ezra will experience and accomplish comes through God's good hand upon him, and his own heart posture to submit to the Lord's yoke, through his “skilled” study, application, and teaching of God's Word. May we adopt a similar heart posture as we live under the gracious hand of God, whose yoke is easy and burden is light!
Pastor Tina continues this series talking to us about how we live a life of rhythm and change For everything in life there is a season. God appointed seasons for this time and sees seasons from eternity, from the beginning to the end. We can't move through time like God does. God works on His Kairos time, not the Chronos time we see. Knowing your season really matters. What season does God have you in? Do you allow circumstances to define your season? Seasons don't last forever they always have a beginning and an end. You have to ask yourself: What does God want us to experience in this season?
A message by Rev. Joel Siegel.
The Whole Armor of God10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++For more information about this group, please visit their website at reformationboise.com. In Ezra chapter 6, we see the conclusion of this long journey of rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem. This leads to a time of dedication, being set apart as God's people, and worshipping Him in joyful celebration. Now, because of the salvation we have through Jesus, God's Presence resides with and in us. We are His Temple. May we be dedicated to Him - cleansed, set apart, and full of joy in His Presence!

On today's episode of The Last Days Podcast we hear from Pastors Todd & Katie as they discuss what it means to not only know God, but to HEAR from Him with clarity and certainty. God is a God of His Word, so nothing He says to do will contradict His Word. However, plenty of people have said "God told me.." and then disastrous things have happened. Did they hear from God or from themselves thinking it was God? We explore this topic from the Word and share how YOU can know if you're hearing from God or not. In Ezra chapter 5, after a 16 year stoppage, God's people obey His call to get back to the construction of the Temple. They face immediate opposition to this work, but due to God's faithful presence and His word of assurance through Haggai the prophet, the people find the courage to continue the work. By God's grace and through a surprising and often painful process, the obstacles we face become a compassionate gift that exposes our fears, sins, and idols. Our God will redeem and use these difficulties to help us realign in faithful obedience, so we learn to entrust the things we cannot see or control into the hands of the One who is always Faithful.

Jesus warns against the subtle but dangerous pull of hypocrisy, where giving becomes a performance for others or even a quiet source of self-congratulation. Instead, Christ calls us as His followers to a radically different approach: to give quietly, selflessly, and even forgetfully, seeking not human praise or personal pride, but the approval and glory of God alone.

Today, Pastor Tom addresses the sobering reality of the "reward" that hypocrites receive. Jesus makes it clear that if we seek the praise of men, we have received our reward in full, leaving nothing to be received from our Father who is in heaven.
Rather than prescribing a fixed percentage, Scripture calls for giving that is thoughtful, joyful, and proportionate to God's provision—primarily supporting the mission of the church, the spread of the gospel, and the needs of others.
