For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. (Malachi 3:6) *1/ Who the LORD is - "I am the LORD" 2/ The attribute of the LORD that our attention is drawn to - "I change not" 3/ The mercy joined to this attribute - "Therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed."* **Sermon Summary:** The sermon explores the theological significance of God's immutability as revealed in Malachi 3:6, emphasizing that His unchanging nature provides stability and assurance to believers. It contrasts the fickleness of human behaviour with the consistent character of Jehovah, who remains faithful despite human sinfulness. The preacher explains that this attribute is not merely abstract but serves as the foundation for the certainty of salvation and the reliability of God's promises. By examining the person and work of Jesus Christ, the text highlights how divine constancy ensures that the elect are preserved from destruction through Christ's atoning sacrifice. Ultimately, the message offers pastoral comfort, urging listeners to rest their hope on a God whose word and love never fail.

What is God like? How does who he is impact what we do with our lives? In "Now Showing," we walk through some of the attritbutes of God and why they matter for our daily living. In Part 1, Pastor Matt explains how God's eternal, unchanging nature makes him worthy of our hope and trust.God reveals his nature to us.A fundamental tenet of Christian belief is that God has revealed himself to us both through scripture and through nature. Because God upholds the universe by his power, his fingerprints are all over it. Through the marks he as left we can discover many truths about him. We can broadly separate the attributes of God into two categories: communicable and incommunicable. The communicable attributes are attributes reflected, in finite measure, in humans who bear God's image. The incommunicable attributes belong uniquely to God and he does not share them with any of his creatures.God is Eternal. The eternality of God means he has no beginning or end. Some people ask the question "Who created God?" but this is a nonsense question because God had no beginning. The bible is clear that God has no beginning or end and therefore stands before all things.God is Immutable.Immutability means that God does not change. The unchanging nature of God is essential for Christian belief because it means God is always faithful and always keeps his promises. The Christian who understands this can take courage and hope from it.We live with eternal hope.An eternal God has eternal promises. Knowing that God is eternal and unchanging gives the Christian confidence in the hope we have. We know that God will keep his promises and complete our salvation. He will keep us secure and deliver us from evil. The promises of God offered to us in Christ Jesus are guaranteed to be fulfilled. Take heart and trust in God's promises!

James preaches from Isaiah 6:1–8, where Isaiah sees the Lord in the year King Uzziah died. He begins by reflecting on Bob Dylan's song "The Times They Are A-Changin'", using it to introduce the theme of living in times of change, uncertainty and instability. His central message is: In a time of change and uncertainty, we need to fix our eyes on the one who is unchangeable and completely dependable. James explains that Isaiah's vision happened at a real point in history, around the death of King Uzziah. Uzziah had reigned for 52 years, so his death marked a time of national transition. There was uncertainty about what kind of king Jotham would be, and Uzziah's own downfall was a reminder that even strong human leaders are flawed. Against that background, Isaiah says, "I saw the Lord." James stresses that while earthly kings come and go, the true King remains seated on the throne. The Lord is high and exalted, in complete authority over history, nations, creation, and our personal lives. James then turns to the details of Isaiah's vision: the Lord's robe filling the temple, the seraphim covering their faces and feet, the shaking doorposts, the smoke, and the antiphonal cry: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." He explains that God's holiness is central to who he is. God is utterly different, pure, separate from sin, and glorious. The phrase "Lord Almighty" or "Lord of Hosts" reminds us that God has countless heavenly beings at his command, serving his purposes and ministering to his people. James also reflects on the glory of God in creation, using the Isle of Skye as an example of breathtaking beauty. But he says there is an even greater glory: the glory of redeemed humanity, people transformed by the grace of God and made part of the new creation. Isaiah's response is not pride but repentance. He cries, "Woe to me! I am ruined!" James points out that a true encounter with God reveals our sinfulness, even in our best actions. Isaiah recognises that he is a man of unclean lips living among a people of unclean lips. But God responds graciously. A seraph touches Isaiah's lips with a live coal from the altar and declares his guilt taken away and his sin atoned for. James connects this to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ, whose blood takes away sin. Finally, Isaiah hears the Lord ask, "Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?" Isaiah responds willingly: "Here am I. Send me." James highlights that Isaiah offers himself before knowing the full cost. His surrender comes from having seen the Lord. The sermon ends by challenging believers to respond in the same way: in uncertain times, look to the unchanging Lord, receive his grace, and make ourselves fully available to him. 0:00 Introduction: The Times Are Changing 2:07 Change, Uncertainty and the Unchanging God 4:10 Reading Isaiah 6:1–8 6:12 The Year King Uzziah Died 10:15 Isaiah Sees the Lord on the Throne 14:20 The Seraphim Around the Throne 16:22 Holy, Holy, Holy 20:26 The Lord Almighty and His Heavenly Hosts 24:28 The Whole Earth Is Full of His Glory 28:30 Isaiah's Repentance and Cleansing 32:33 Here Am I, Send Me

The plagues have swept through Egypt. The Passover has occurred. The Pharaoh has finally submitted and let God's people go. Or has he? Now, stuck in between the sea and a determined Egyptian army, the Israelites are faced with danger and difficulty before they can truly leave the country. Once again, they are unsure of following Moses out of Egypt. But God knows what he is doing. He has a plan to lead his people to victory. And that has remained true for all time. Are you in between a dangerous or difficult place in your life? Join us this Sunday as we recognize God's character in leading his people through the Red Sea, how Jesus leads his disciples through their moments of fear, and how the Spirit leads us, even now, out of the difficult and dangerous places we might feel trapped in. As the world changes and uncertainties creep in, Dave highlights the ultimate anchor for our souls: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Dave breaks down three key things the writer of Hebrews reminds us to do: 1. We have often found ourselves chasing "mountaintop experiences," those high-energy moments of spiritual euphoria, only to realize that the true beauty of faith lies in a steady, daily walk with Jesus. In our journey through the shifting seasons of life—the laughter, the mourning, the building, and the tearing down—it is easy to mistake our changing emotions for God's distance. However, we've learned that while our feelings are often like shifting smoke or vapor, Jesus remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. By cultivating a "secret place" of quiet intimacy, anchoring ourselves in the truth of Scripture rather than our fleeting moods, and learning the raw honesty of lament, we can maintain a consistent connection with the Father. Ultimately, we were created to walk with Him in the "cool of the day," discovering that His presence isn't just for the highlights, but for every ordinary moment in between.Referenced Scriptures:* Ecclesiastes 3:1–13* Joel 2:12–13* Psalm 91:1–2* Romans 12:15* Isaiah 41:10* Psalm 23:4* Psalm 46:1* Psalm 118:6* John 14:27* Deuteronomy 31:6* Psalm 13* John 1:12* Genesis 3:8
